And after a two-year visit to the North Region, the Walnut and Bronze is back in the West.

It's the Walnut and Glass and Bronze now... ;)

Great Stagg Bowl; too bad Linfield wasn't playing.

Both teams showed what it tales to win a National Championship: imaginative play calling (some unbalanced O lines, misdirection plays); quarterbacks who can run, very powerful running backs and, especially superb defenses.    For any NWC to get to the Stagg Bowl again, these are key ingredients.

Both teams were outstanding.   UW-Whitewater simply wanted to win more.     And, they played a tougher schedule: a Division II University, and beat Mary-Harkin Baylor twice.

And, yes, the ESPN announcing was AWFUL!   Too many quick and wrong calls.

Congratulations: UW-Whitewater!      Next year, you are the team to beat to win  the West.

GO CATS! GO!

D O.C.

LINFIELD will have this
Quotequarterbacks who can run

everyone wishes they had this
Quotevery powerful (and quick) running backs

Both the Stagg teams had outstanding lines which were really fun to watch - especially on replays as my eye always stays on the ball live.

Gig Harbor Cat

Just had a feeling. After seeing UWW at the Catdome in 05.  I knew they had the heart to do it.  First year coach--Ist year transfer QB, The beav, an outstanding O-line-- LB's that flat would bring it.  It was their day.  It ws a fun game to watch for any sports fan.  As for the Raiders, what can you say, they are an awesome program, their coach has class.  With the exception of #1 all of their players played with class--he was a punk !!!
For all of those that said it would be a walk in the park for the Raiders-- I say

This is an example of why we play the game rather than just picking a score and

Congrats to the Warhawks, 3rd time is a charm.

Leave it to Beaver!!!........Does he have a younger brother? Go west young Man! The Catdome is where you should be!

Great Game, All the Purple had me thinking back to 2004.
You knew that the purple Raiders were not going to go down with out a fight.

GHC.....How about that WW "D".... Salty. and I agree #1 was full of himself, I'm sure the scouts at the game were impressed......NOT! :o

Did anyone else notice that turnovers were a key? Hang on to the ROCK and WIN! Plus a little luck helps. :)

GO WILDCATS!
53 IN 2008!!
Conference Champs!!!
Play off bound!!!!!
Only at a D3 football game could you have 2 seats on the 50 yard line (2 rows behind bluenote) and have an obstructed view!
I love D3 Football!!!

MonroviaCat

Turnovers were a big key in this game.  Also, anybody else notice a lot penalty flags that were left in the pocket?  I think it pretty much evened out in the end and it was nice to see them "just letting the boys play" but I did notice several obvious holding,  blocks in the back and pass interference calls that weren't made (on both sides).  As for the purple....when was the last time a non-purple team wasn't in the Stagg Bowl.....we've had these two purple teams the last 3 years and of course the Cat/MHB purple stag the year before...... The might have to change it to the "Purple Rain Bowl, brought to you by Prince"......or something :)  How many days till Cats v. 2.008 take the field?  Oh and how many days till 11 will tell us who the mystery opponent is? :)
Go Cats!

Wildcat'64

According to one of the d3 personnel write up of the game, both the Warhawks and the Raiders loose a ton of seniors this year.  23 seniors for UWW and 15 starters for Mt. Union.  Could be rebuilding years for both these teams.

GO CATS

More like a re-loading year. They will both be very formidable next year.

I know that Mt. Union will have their QB and RB back (at least they are both eligible).  That is a nice base of build from...
Go Cats!

I noticed the same thing, Monrovia, that they let the kids play, but it didn't get out of hand.
The only one with a problem seemed to be Garcon, and I don't think that's new for him.
Well, Garcon and little Kehres that one time.

TO's killed MUC.

Rumor has it that the mystery team won't be from the North or East, so I guess that eliminates MUC and Rowan. Damn, I was looking forward to another beatdown on those ugly brown and yellow unis.
