Something in the air tonight tells me that is him. Figures it would be, doesn't? What's unusual is not many 'Cats cut their ties like would have happened if this coach were to set up home base in Florida.

Ahh uhh! There it is....

From the WILDCAT football 1973 press guide

"Craig Howard  Linebacker 21 5-11, 210
Senior three-year letterman from Grants Pass. Craig will again be a defensive signal caller for the WILDCATS. A starter since his freshman year, Craig is a leader by both voice and example. His teammates have awarded him the "'CAT Most Inspirational" honor the last two seasons. Craig spent time last year at the University of Tennessee learning from Bill Battle and his assistants. Physical education major and recently married."

The Tennessee thing would explain how he wandered away from Oregon.

Cross referencing the pictures of a 21 year old player and a "let's watch some more film" 58 year old coach I say it's him.

AND THEN

Well, der....

Talking to myself here and coco doesn't know any better.

Apologies to Kelly Bird.

Had I bothered to read the 2007 LINFIELD press guide:
Quote
"Former linebacker and assistant coach Craig Howard, from the class of 1974, is the most recent alumnus to lead a high school program to a state championship. Under Howard, Nease (FLA) has compiled a record of 43-10.
In 2005 Howard guided Nease High School of Ponte Verda Beach to the Class 4A Florida High School state championship. /// Howard and the Panthers were also state runner-up in 2006, losing to Plant 25-21. Both title games were played in Dolphins Stadium in Miami.
With Howard as coach, Nease was featured in the first ever high school game televised on ESPN on August 8, 2005. That game, versus Hoover High School Bucs, was the highest-rated high school game in television history with about one million viewers."

Nice job, DOC. Your gut instinct was right.

Another Linfield success story.

Interesting article on Craig Howard.  It sounds like Craig has come a long ways in Florida high school football.  Before moving to Mongolia I was living in the Lake City area and attended many of the Columbia High School football games.  Back in those days Craig was coaching at Mandarin High School in Jacksonville who were in the same conference as Columbia.  His team had a very rough time of it playing Columbia, which is known for being a football power in North Florida.  Columbia High had one of the best high school teams I've ever seen.  I hope Craig does well at Columbia...once again he is a purple Cat...aka Columbia High Tigers.  He is also only a few miles from being "way down upon the Suwanee River"....the color of the water is actually cardinal red....It's the strangest thing.
Don't forget your booties cause it's cold out there!

Thank-you, criswyly, I was wondering when you were going to log on and bail me out.

The only thing missing from 11's extensive video library is obvious: "Linfield Legends: Ryan Carlson". Now that something I would love to see. It could be 5 minutes long and only show half of his TFL.
Saturday will be the most epic tailgate ever, especially if my wife gives birth under the Quick-Shade.

Ha!  Thanks Spirit.  I do have my 4 "Linfield Legends" picked out for the month of May.  I'm actually going to start putting those together soon.  1-LB, 1-DL, 2-RB's.....and I can promise you that the one defensive lineman isn't old WC11.  ;)

I'd bet money you guys could easily figure out one of the RB's but will struggle picking out the 2nd running back that is very underrated in Linfield folklore.

Greating folks,

Just wanted to tell Mr. Dub-C (WC11) thank you for deciding to add current cat players blogs to the infamous Catalumni site. I am sure such insight from current players will help any future prospect better understand why picking a DIII school isn't a bad decision if you would rather concentrate on being a student-athlete in your life. Great job.

OK, DOC, you've got my curiosity up.....why the ??? next to Aaron's name?  He sure looked good at the end of the season and I thought was primed to take the reins for 08.

I believe DOC was just making a guess at who 11's #2 RB was going to be....(?)

I believe Aaron Boehme is a quarterback or are qbs considered running backs also in our scheme?

Anyone know anything about a possible transfer who is the younger brother of one of the best backs to take the field at Linfield?

Wildcat'64

Blue,

Would that be the kid who had an older brother play in the Stagg Bowl in 2004?

Yes....
another attempt at humor over the heads of the horde like a bat out of Hades.

Aaron Boehme can run (and we know he can catch) so even though it might not be in the scheme it might help on critical plays.
Just getting itchy to see him play. I remove the answer from the trivia question.

I'm not sure if I should be afraid but it seems like I'm usually able to correctly interpret your humor Dens.....  ;)
