Proud Papa Joe

Just caught the end of the cowboy game. Sounds like it was quite the comeback. Good way to start the season. Nice to know you can come from behind on the road.

Thanks 11 for responding. Save me some t-shirts. Won't be up until the 27th. Hope to see everybody then.

...so do I get a prize for picking them all correct?  ;D

Willamette's first string qb went down in the 1st quarter or it would have been worse. Knee...don't know how bad. But the back up will do fine for what they do.

Proud Papa Joe.....I believe your boy scored a td on the second run play today in the scrimmage. About a 65 yard run....looked good all day...

Got 3 T-Shirts from Wildcat11 at the scrimmage....quality job...1st class work! Just like his video projects!!!

Menlo sounds like another disapointing year if today was any indication.

Not sure what you mean by that statement...they lost 10-13 in overtime to a good WIAC team. Seems like a good effort to me?    ???

Thanks for the info Blue. Got to speak to him a little bit today. Sounds like things are good.

Thanks again.

If you read Cawcdad's synopsis of the game you'll see that they both played poor games and had the typical turnover/penalty problems of the past.

Seems to be the case with 1st games of the season for a lot of teams. That's why it will be tough for us in Texas unfortunately, being our 1st game and them having one, a good one already against a quality team. Would rather have us warm up with a no brainer this week to get the bugs out, like a lot of other teams do... and get 10 games. Stout probably isn't that bad though I'm sure in the long run compared to other teams across the country. It's possible Menlo won't be that bad?

BTW....I thought Willamette looked pretty sharp for it being their 1st game and with the type of offense they run. They really didn't have that many turnovers at all. I'm not sure but they may have had 0 turnovers on offense?

The Pios end their 27-game losing streak! Hopefully they can tack on another one!

Pictures of the Stout - Menlo game have been posted.

Interesting first week for the NWC (and upcoming opponents).

Big congrats to the Pios, that's got to feel great for them.

Willamette defeating a historically very good Concordia team by 2 TDs is impressive.

I'm with bluenote on the Menlo game. To take UW-Stout, a team that usually finishes around .500 in the rugged WIAC into overtime is a very solid effort. Whitworth barely squeaked out wins against UW-Stout the last two years themselves. Menlo has really stuggled the last four years and it will be interesting to see if this is an indication of them maybe improving.

And Hardin-Simmons travelling all the way to UW-La Crosse and overcoming a 21 point deficit is sick. UW-La Crosse is always tough as hell. 'Cats are going to have a big time challenge to open the season. Can't wait.
A packed student section behind an end zone cheering on guys they will actually see in class on Monday is almost as cool as The Streak.

Nice job, Lewis and Clark!
Those kids have worked a long time for this one.

Great to see the Pio's get a win...Congrats to Hardin Simmons....can't wait till GAME TIME next Saturday.
Don't forget your booties cause it's cold out there!

I may have been hasty in say Menlo is in for another disapointing year.  Obviously it was their first game and Stout could prove to be a good team (as could Menlo).  Then again, they played Sout close last year and neither team went on to finish very well (thought Stout held tight with Whitworth and others).  I'd like to see Menlo do well (or well enough to finish 5th in the conference anyway).... :)

Stout must have thought it a big win as they had quite a celebration for a first game of the season win.
Three players stood out for me from Menlo, RB Shaun Souza (#5, Jr.) rushed for 110 yards. He is a real workhorse on the offense. He'd carry the ball every play if they let him. They have a transfer from Sierra College,  WR Darrell Willis (#1, Jr.) who can bust a punt return at any time.  He didn't appear fast, but was yards downfield before you realized it. Finally DB Ricky Jordan (#20, Sr.). He intercepted one pass, almost had another on a diving breakup and was in on numerous tackles.

With Hardin-Simmons win on the road, I'm already nervous about the Cats game. Anyone willing to text me with updates?  I will be shooting the Chapman-Menlo game.

Does anyone know if there will be a video feed that I can get at my single wide ?
