Yes 11, exactly one year later than originally planned, the City of Salem finally let us put it up.  It's about time.  For those of us down here that are in the know, there's quite a bit of grudging admiration for what you've got going on up in McMinnville.  On the video board, that is.

As for Whitcomb's injury, Speckman says that it's pretty serious, but we'll know more once they do an MRI this week.

In 1984 Linfield beat Pacific 2-0!  With the driving rain, the mud, and the wind it was quite a game.

Any of the Linfield faithful heading down to Abilene?

Yikes...that's really bad news for the Bearcats.  Hope whatever the injury is he's able to recover quickly.  Thanks for the update.

fbgcat,

I'm flying out to DFW on Friday and will be in Abilene late eve.  I'm looking forward to seeing this team finally get on the field and see what they can do.  We have talent all over the field and I believe the 'Cats are going to be a very good club this year.

fellas...quick sidebar.  I hesitated to put this up until I tried it out myself.  I did and it's fun and I haven't got any spam from them yet.  It's a website that gives you 10 cents of "play money" to bet on a whole bunch of sports including ncaa football (no d3), NFL, MLB, UFC etc.  If you can eventually work your way up to $20 they'll let you cash out for real money.  Like I said I've been doing it for a week and it's actually pretty fun, you'd be surprised how much you root for a team when you've got 5 cents riding on it :)

On another note...Oxybob, I agree on your assessment of Ohio State.  Kudos to them for playing SC but the 1AA's have got to stop, their schedule is a joke year in and year out.

Final question...How bout the "unsportsmanlike conduct" penalty they threw in the UW game Saturday!  Don't get me wrong, UW has to kick a 35 yard FG but was that not the worst judgement call EVER.  It was the same crew that blew the UW-Oregon State call last season.  They hid behind the letter of the law in the rule book after the game but they got roasted by every columnist and commentator in the country and even the NCAA official coordinator said that referees usually will be more lenient in that situation...

So GHC...what's the spread on the game this weekend...cat's by ???

GHC,

Where are are you man? This league race in the NL west is looking good for the blue crew as of now. That one guy that all of beantown really wanted to get rid of is putting on his own show down here.

Best of Luck to the Cats, rats and bearcats from up North. Hope we (oxy) meets one of you guys in the big dance this November. Make sure you guys buy your sun tan lotion because its should still be hot when the Rock host's the first round of the Playoffs 8)

downtown, Ohio St. plays the smaller Ohio schools in the non conference games to help them with revenue.  They do play at least one top team every year though.  I'll take 24 points and the Buckeyes. ::)

Budget is hardly a concern for the Buckeyes, they spent 32 million on football alone last year and still made a 26 million dollar profit which they used to pay for all of the other sports they field other than basketball.  But hey, if you can sell out your stadium with Youngstown State and still get rewarded for it, I can't say I blame them.  At the end of the day they can schedule as many 1AA cream puffs and non-BCS schools they want but please stop feeding them to the lions in the national championship game...

I'd take 24 points and the buckeyes too though...is that what the spread is????

I went to abilene 2 yrs ago, that was plenty for me. I trust that all of you will have a good time and cheer the cats to victory.
Saturday will be the most epic tailgate ever, especially if my wife gives birth under the Quick-Shade.

I think you misunderstood. It helps Youngstown State's revenue because they get the big payday for coming to Columbus.
