but what if we got in too early and had too much time on our hands...then we could use that as an excuse

If we're going to take the time to go to Texas and play HSU, couldn't we get a flight that gets us to Abilene before 1 am?????  could it have had anything to do with a sluggish 1st half??

no.

Postgame:

Well, tough loss after coming back from 14 down to take the lead in the 4th quarter. No oil drums ever showed up, but in the second half they dragged out several metal garbage cans to generally be obnoxious.

Was tough to see Ford in street clothes during the second half..limping quite seriously and part of the time on crutches. The QB injury was very serious. Rumor has it that it's a broken collar bone, nearly a compund fracture. It was tough on his folks who were here watching.

Overall a good crowd of Linfield folks. Was nice to see Prof. Vince Jacobs and Mrs at the game.

Net, Linfield was in this game, and could have won. It was there for the taking, but QB Feaster was just too dominant all day long including at the end when the game was on the line.. Linfield played well in spurts, not too bad for the first game out. Good to see fewer Wildcat turnovers in the second half, but there were still too many penalties; often coming at the least opportune times. But, the Cats and fans will regroup and fight another day.

Go Cats!! Always.

Old prof is a wise man.

Here is my beef- why in the world do we give these kids such an automatic disadvantage by arriving in abilene so late  at night?????? Two years ago they arrived at 1am for a 6 pm kickoff and last night at the same time for an earlier start. I know for a fact there are earlier flights out of PDX- this is total crap. I also know cost is a factor, but you are already paying to get out there, take the time to see that the athletic team has its best chance to succeed.

Stupid excuses are sure to follow by athletic dept apologists, so I am ready to hear them.

Good effort by the team. the D let us down.
Saturday will be the most epic tailgate ever, especially if my wife gives birth under the Quick-Shade.

There is no way you can quantify that response. Traveling for 14 hrs and then sleeping 4 could very well hamper your game. hsu played great, I am not taking anything away from them, but why do we have to hamstring ourselves????

Do I understand correctly that the Linfield starting QB broke his collarbone in the 2Q?

Yes, and I heard Reggie Ford has a broken leg.
Go Cats! Make it 62 in '17!

Tough loss of two of our starters.  Actually I see alot of positive to build on in the next two weeks.  SOU will be just as much a test as HSU was today.  Now that we have a game under our belts expect our coaching staff to do what they have always have done best,  Adjust and get better.
Thats why Linfield is who Linfield is, boys.  Gotta run out to the garage and find ole blue--

See you all at the Catdome in 2 weeks

I did see that SOU is competitive with Sacramento State today (D1-AA)
Should be a tough game at the CatDome in 2 weeks.

Let's pray we don't go to Abilene again.....

We'll be heading down there again for sure if nobody from the SCIAC grows some nuts in the next two years.

Starting QB was injured (badly broken collarbone) in the 3rd quarter, perhaps it was in the 4th. Ford was injured early in the 1st quarter, but apparently, not as badly as Boheme. Ford limped around on the sideline for most of the the rest of the 1st half, but was in street clothes during the second. With luck, it may be a less serious injury that will only keep him out for a week or two. :) :)

SOU will be playing their 5th game when we meet them at the CatDome.... ::)

Disappointing loss today....we were ahead 22-21 with about 4 minutes to go and had them pinned way back in their own territory with a 3rd and 12... and they busted one loose....and eventually scored the winning touchdown a few plays later.

For those who didn't know...the plane was delayed in Portland for a few hours even before they took off. That's why we didn't get to there until 1 am. Crap happens...then you play.
