Here's to the the Rats getting their heads handed to them this weekend!  Tough call for me since I hate Redlands almost as much but it's tough to call that one a rivalry...

Hello one and all! First thing first, the Rats have been looking foward to this game all year and everyone in the Pirate Circle has been waiting for this game. If the dogs come out flat this weekend Redlands might be the ones walking away with a little more than their heads in thier hands.

As for a rivalry, I know for a fact people up in the pine hate Redlands for dodging Whitworth last year in the playoffs. And Redlands hates Whitworth for beating them 3 out of 4 years. If thats not a rivalry then what is.

Well...I predict it may be a tie because both teams are terrible this year.

I meant that Linfield v Redlands is not a rivalry since the games should at least be close to be a rivalry...

I agree, plus Redlands got thumped by Lewis and Clark.

...Redlands is no Hardin-Simmons University....the Rats are playing the lower level teams again to get their record looking half way decent.

Terrible? You really do need to come back to the light.

Redlands....0-4 vs Linfield plus you got crushed by Lewis and Clark in 2000...
What's the series record... Whitworth vs Linfield, something like 26-3? Plus Whitworth lost to Redlands a couple years back so they can't be that good.

So what you're telling me is that Whitworth isn't the 2006/2007 NWC Champs?

I'm pretty sure those stats are not stenciled on the conference championship trophy.

Is it next weekend yet?  Or even 24 hours from now where we can hear about how "Redlands must be the De Facto NWC champ" or how "Whitworth got lucky but we'll see them in the playoffs".......  Sheesh......I'm really hating this schedule.  Next year, can't Linfield please play all of their games (be it 8, 9, or 10) in a row so we can at least avoid having to debate which program we hate more.....good night all!  Arg! Ahoy! Aar!  Shiver me timbers!  (that's the last talk like a Pirat you'll hear from me....well unless I get the chance to spoof the Whitworth Pirats at some point this year).

RFB,

Talk all your junk but you know the truth.  Linfield actively pursued to play Redlands this off season because we had perfect open dates.  Hell Linfield even tried to sweeten the deal by offering to kick in on some of the Dawg's expenses if they came to Portland but Maynard still said no and instead signed a one-year deal with a IIAC team (and didn't exchange film).

I'm come to realize that Redlands will never play the 'Cats in the regular season anymore because we have handled the Dawg 5-0 and three of those have come via monkey stomp.  So keep yapping but you know your program keeps proving they are scared.

Blue,

You really need to pull your head out.   Call it for what it is an anticipated great game between the NWC and SCIAC champ.  Kind of hard to call two teams terrible after week one.  Couldn't I say the same thing about Linfield, Plu, or any team in America that lost in week one.  Don't be so upset because you have a bye this week.

Also, there were some suspect teams that got to go from other regions. Some conferences got two teams in. This all contributed to the Rats not going.

Believe it or not, one of the East conference's actually had three of its seven teams selected to go to the playoffs last year.
A packed student section behind an end zone cheering on guys they will actually see in class on Monday is almost as cool as The Streak.
