PLU loses 16-7
Lewis and Clark falls apart in the 2nd half and loses 62-35

Willamette's D is playing pretty well but 3 turnovers are the difference in the game right now

Willamette 31, SOU 23.  FINAL.

Bearcats were down 17-3 in the second quarter off three turnovers inside our own 30.  17-9 at halftime (PAT blocked after a Leslie TD pass).  Halfway through the third, Willamette returned a fumble for a touchdown, two point conversion good.  SOU then kicked two field goals, but the Bearcats returned an SOU punt for a touchdown early in the fourth to take a 24-23 lead.  After another SOU punt, Willamette iced it with another TD.

More details after I regain my sanity tomorrow.

That is a very very good win for WU.  Beating Concordia and now SOU is legit.  I think Willamette just put the NWC on notice this season they are a major contender.

'Cats better be ready to roll next weekend.

Wow, time to give some big props to Willamette. Three impressive wins, and this after losing their starting QB in the opener.

The two TD win over Concordia-Moorhead (I actually read it was a 3 TD lead before the backups were put in late in the game as CM scored before time expired) looks even better now. After losing to Willamette, CM defeated NAIA Dickenson St. by 25 points and now has shocked everyone by defeating St. Johns on the road. SJU has won like 90 of its last 100 home games or something.

Then the Bearcats defeated Cal Lutheran on the road, the SCIAC's #2 team from last year, also by two TDs. And now a win over scholarship Southern Oregon, despite committing three turnovers early in the game.

They have totally taken me by surprise and seem to have a very strong team, after back-to-back disappointing seasons.
A packed student section behind an end zone cheering on guys they will actually see in class on Monday is almost as cool as The Streak.

Over on the update board:

Redlands: 7  Withworth:  0  5:50 left in Q1'
Go Cats!

I would assume Willamette should be in the top 25. A lot of those teams that are in the top 25 have now lost 1-2 games. They should get the boot.....Bethel, Ohio Northern....what the heck boot out SJU while they're at it.

Gig Harbor Cat

Early in the second  Redlands  21-0 on the Rats

The Pios hung in there with PP for a while and then made some mistakes and lost it in the second half. Even if they go winless the rest of the season, which is very possible, it seems like they are improving little by little.

I saw two Pio games last year and was on the sidelines for both. I saw and heard good stuff from L&C.
