dt48- are you talking about Simon using up his 3 freebies. Simon is more upset then anybody. There is no such thing as freebies. The kid is giving 120% out there and your running your keyboard. Now you are starting to piss me off. So why don't you just show some support and keep it positive.
PPJ

Easy PPJ, facts are facts and nobody said he didn't feel bad or that he wasn't giving 120%.  I think everybody would be fine with 100% and no fumbles.  Like I said, there are rare instances (ie. truly HUGE hit/helmet on the ball) where a fumble is nothing more than simply a lack of attention to detail, and I think it's fair to say keeping track of the football is a fairly important detail.

Now I'm certainly not trying to piss you off but I'm definately not going to avoid talking about issues that affect the team.  He's averaging 4.5 yards per carry, I love it.  He's a fellow California boy so, trust me, I want him to do well and to a man, with the exception of the fumbles, everybody I've talked to said he's gonna be a good one!  I'm looking forward to a great rest of the season now that the first W is on the board...

Speaking of the board...how was the new pre-game video that Kelly and WC11 put together??

What video is this?  Was it supposed to run on the videocast before the game?  If so then it did not happen.
Go Cats!

D O.C.

They chose to do one for SOU as a test...

Gig Harbor Cat

It ran just about 10 to 15 minutes before the game started.

It rocked.  It was put togeter by Wildcat 11 and I must say it is his best work to date.

Speaking of Videos.....

While I'm going to save the team intro video for Catdomealumni.com, Kelly Bird came up with the idea of posting up the videoboard segements of the previous game on ADvantage Catdome.  So we have a Linfield Trivia segment and 3 senior moments.

ADvatage Catdome presents: Video Tuesday!

***update: just added the "Today in Wildcat History" segment

I am sure ppj has calmed down now, but I have to give dt props for his line that he would rather have simon give 100% and not fumble, rather than 120% and fumble 3 times!

TO's have cost us the playoffs the last few years, so that makes complaining about them fair game. I know that I am typing this, not getting hit by roided out wou players, but the idea that you cannot complain about something unless you do it yourself is pretty stupid. I could not play for Linfield, but I am sure I could walk on at willamette. I would have a better chance if I was a girl though.
Saturday will be the most epic tailgate ever, especially if my wife gives birth under the Quick-Shade.

Outstanding, WC11.  I loved the trivia and the history. The player interviews are great! You can certainly tell these guys are scholar athletes, can't you? Playing for the love of the game and the Linfield tradition.

Nobody has had to juice to force Wildcat fumbles the last two (and a quarter) seasons...ask the 2006 team who lost 5 fumbles to a very non-steroidal group of Bucs.

On to Whitworth...the game this week will be a tough one.  I think Whitworth will be able to hold the fly in check more so than any of the previous bearkitten opponents.  Not necessarily because I think Whitworth is better than the other teams Willamette has played, but they are more familiar with defending the fly and more specifically, Willamette's version of it.  The problem is that so far Willamette has been running it to darn near perfection.

Maybe this is all stemming from my thoughts on how one-dimensional offenses (see the fly, veer option, wing T) can be stopped by a disciplined defense with good athletes and some nice automatic checks.  Look for outside backers blitzing into the fly, with safeties rolling over to it and corners on an island.  Willamette doesn't have the talent at QB (less than 50% completion rate) or at receiver for them to consistently torch even the poor Whitworth corners so long as they are committed to the WR and less worried about the fly guy.  If the DT's, MLB, and the LB away from the fly can blow up the dive's, traps, etc. that will come up the middle (WITHOUT biting on the fly, that they will never be able to make a play on anyways) then I can see this defense slowing Willamette's O down enough to win this game.  We'll see if the young Pirate defense is disciplined enough to pull it off...I know the talent is there.

I would think Willamette is the favorite at this point but I think Whitworth is very capable of winning this game.  Maybe we can get a repeat of the 2006 trip to McMinville and with the help of 7 turnovers get one step closer to a three-peat.

Willamette THREW very well against LaVerne - long. Chapman THREW very well against you. (yes, but look at the score)  You already know you need maturation at linebacker. It will be a fun game, indeed.

QuoteWillamette THREW very well against LaVerne - long. Chapman THREW very well against you. (yes, but look at the score)

That comparison is poor at best.  The throws Willamette had against La Verne and the yardage Chapman picked up against Whitworth were very different.  As is the talent at the WR position.

Those Willamette passes were off the fly (play action for the most part) and due to people biting on the run.  A corner in man coverage who does not come up on the fly sweep until it's absolutely necessary does not get beat on a go route (as long as he is fast enough to run with the guy).  This is what I am crossing my fingers Whitworth will do.  While a cover 3 would allow the corners to bail and stay over the top of deep patterns it leaves big holes across the middle with the curl-flat safety reading run first.

Chapman spread the field and found the holes in the Whitworth zone.  Part of it was due to a very good and deep group of Panther WR, part of it was from a non-existent pass rush, and part of it was due to corners who could not re-route receivers inside allowing the safety to get over the top to help.

The backers are not the problem (though they need to tackle better), our d-line (especialy the DE position) has been getting man handled.  Brandon Martin seems to be the only one who can hold his gap. This leads to a 3-4 front while good teams like Redlands easily punch the ball up the middle of the D.

It's all about discipline this week for the Pirates while the Cats focus on getting PT for everyone who wants it...look for PPJ to take his sons gear and live out his dream in the 4th quarter against the oaks

507-Rat....I have to agree with you on most accounts...in fact you are close on the Child Board Page. I think I will have to choose Willamette this week. BUT......I have chosen Linfield before at the PineconeFIELD....and hava come up shorthanded.....I'm still going with Willamette, mainly because I think you guys basically suck this year. Now, if you guys do win.......just think about how great the game at the CATDOME will be!!!

QuoteI think you guys basically suck this year

Blue, I've heard this before.  It was last year, and the year before, and the year before.  I'm pretty sure it doesn't have as much to do with the Pirates as it does with you being a Cat  ;)

It's ok though, I think Linfield sucks this year too...and have ever since the departure of The Messiah Brett Elliot.  But they can't fumble away a W against the mighty Menlo Oaks. Can they?  Of course not!  Phone it in GHC just not to Maynard, he won't pick up!

But seriously, i'd have to think long and hard (that's what she said) about who to pick in this game if I were actually putting money on this game.  My Rats are down this year and some injuries the last couple of weeks haven't helped.  Oh well, I'll still be rooting for them and waiting to talk trash next week when the conference championship is played down in McMinville again.
