Your editors should have gotten rid of the unnecessary and, frankly, incorrect use of the conditional tense.

"would score" is unnecessary, SID-speak. He scored. There's nothing conditional about it.

Also, D3football.com has a capital D. :)

This piece is well-written, however. I would ask you, though, if so much play-by-play wrapup is needed in a weekly paper. Do you have a feature angle anywhere, a sidebar story, etc.?

Just a thought. Keep up the good work.

B-Press,

I agree, you've been a great addition to the NWC board but that is the last nice thing I'll be saying to you for the next week and a half.  :)

Thanks for the tips, Pat.  Every bit of input helps.  I don't normally need to do that much play-by-play, because we don't normally score eleven touchdowns in a game.  But I know some of the guys that played in the second half, and I wanted to make sure everybody who scored got their name in the paper.    We have a feature space that rotates among the sports, and I've done one this year (an interview with our play-by-play announcer).  I wish I could do more, but I compete with volleyball, men's and women's soccer, crew, a weekly fitness column, and pictures.  Since this week's paper was our "Gender Issue," the feature space went to a column on women's nutrition.

However, I will be getting a special column next week to pump up the student body for a certain rivalry game. ;)  See you on the other side, wildcat11!

Assuming everything goes as planned this week (i.e. Linfield rolls the Pios)--the matchup against Willamette could be the potential NWC championship AND would also would be potential win #5 for the Cats which of course would add another year to "The Streak".  It's hard not to look past Lewis and Clark with the potential importance of the following week but I'm sure the coaches and players will be focused on improving and hopefully getting some reps in for everybody.  While I know we want to protect our QB and other starters, I'd love to see Franklin and the WR's get some game-time practice with the passing game as I feel that has been the weak link for the Cats so far this year (aside from turnovers of course).  A couple of more days---too bad no video this week....
Go Cats!

Got a question for anybody on the board who's been up to Puyallup before.  BearcatPress is making his first road trip of the season this Saturday.  Are there visitors stands at Sparks Stadium or do they have visitors sit in the main grandstand with the home fans (à la McCulloch or Griswold)?

Sparks has ample seating on both sides of the stadium.  The place can actually be pretty darn fun when you get a big crowd in there.  Just don't get confused when you get off the freeway and see the county fair facilities...that's not Sparks Stadium.

MUC57

Coco,

Great talking to you last night. I'm happy you are doing better.
I still root for the Wildcats.
Your buddy from Mount Union.

Thanks, MUC57. Maybe one of these days Linfield can play against your team. We're still hoping.

Hey, GHC! How long does it take to clean the gutters on a single wide?

Where's Foss High School? Is that a new one? Sounds like our Foss needs to go on a sign-stealing mission.
Two words:  THE STREAK

Foss

Foss High? What a stupid-ass sounding name. Only dummies would chose to go to school there.  ;D

coco, Believe it or not back during the college days a buddy of mine told me about a street in NE Portland near where he was brought up that was named Foss. He said one night we should all go up there and grab a little souvenir for my dorm room. Well, we made the trip late one night, stared at the sign, and chickened out. Must have been that Linfield ethics thing kicking in.
A packed student section behind an end zone cheering on guys they will actually see in class on Monday is almost as cool as The Streak.

Well, after casually reading the board for several years, figured it's time to join the fray.  Can't leave bearcatpress hanging as the sole WU voice on the board.

And yes, I'm sure there'll be a few "fair-weather fan" comments about joining the board when WU is rolling.  The timing is more of a graduate, grow-up, calm down a bit timeframe before wading into this.

Hello all.

Yup...this is about the time of the year when WU posters start to show up on the board.  At least WU kicker didn't come out like the typical WU poster from the past years.  Welcome aboard WU kicker....but Linfield posters are going to pound on you with that handle.  Anyways...good to hear from you Liz.  ;)

It really is good to have another poster (even a Willamette one).  Don't take any of us too seriously or you're going to get pissed off very quickly.

MonroviaCat - nice one, but sorry to let you down, not her.

As for the handle, wildcat11, I can take it.  What's sports without some good rivalry smack-talk - or kicker bashing?  Been there, heard it all.
