LC averaged an impressive 4.8 yards per rush; but, WU averaged 9.6 yards.
LC averaged 11.6 yards per completion; WU averaged an incredible 26.7 yards.

Prediction:   Willamette will be in the Stagg Bowl.
...

That's precisely why I was urging the Bearcats to go for it on 4th and 1 early in the 2nd quarter. Leading 28-7 and almost into LC territory (I think they were on the 45) and averaging almost 10 yards per rush, it could have been a huge momentum boost that could carry them into halftime with *probably* a larger lead. Instead they punt and LC missed a FG, then scored on their next possession to make it 28-14.

Great analysis, George. I hope your prediction comes true!

You're right - Willamette is the Real Deal this season.

Credit for the Big plays yesterday has to go to the O line. They played a phenomenal game.

Based on Willamette's size, I thought Linfield was playing a team from the WIAC, not the NWC. That has to be one of the bigger NWC teams I've seen in a long time. And they are athletic to boot. Bearcats are going to do some damage in the playoffs, and I'm not just saying that because they beat Linfield. I'm saying that because they are damn good. However, I wouldn't get too carried away on placing them in the Stagg Bowl just yet. Just getting out of the West Region is always a brutal test, let alone making it to the big dance.

If I had not seen the game but been told that the 'Cats had 459 yards, and both Franklin and Ford rushed for over 100 yards, I would have said Linfield must have won the NWC title. When you score 28 points and are playing at the Catdome, you figure you'll probably get the W, not lose by 24. But that can happen when you are playing a team who is simply better.

Congrats Willamette, you lived up to all the hype. What impressed me was not so much your jumping out to the 28-7 lead, because the 'Cat mistakes had something to do with that. It was responding on the road to the Linfield comeback when the game was 31-28 and the 'Cats had all the momentum. You dominated the rest of the game from that point.

I would think you're probably looking at a #2 seed at the worst if you win out. And even if UW-Whitewater is kept in the West this year, with their recent home loss to an unranked team and the Bearcats likely going undefeated with nine D3 wins, it will be interesting to see if an even higher seed awaits.......
A packed student section behind an end zone cheering on guys they will actually see in class on Monday is almost as cool as The Streak.

St. Louis, Danville VA, Whitewater WI, next year Rochester, N.Y.

Yeah. Mount Union doesn't travel. Think before you post.

Think before I post?....nope, not gonna happen, especially Saturday night at 10 pm!   ;D
Plus the trips you mention aren't that far anyway! Not cross country for sure like Linfield traveling to Texas or Wisconsin.

Pat Coleman

Think about how many Division III teams Mount Union had to go past in order to get to St. Louis or Whitewater or Danville or Rochester, though. Teams are not exactly lining up to play Mount Union.

Kinda sounds familiar, doesn't it?

the bearkitties are legit--not quite up to the level of the 97 club but legit.  I won't go on about the Cat coaching staff as you all know my stance on that.  I back them 100%  I was on the sidelines all day and believe that the 3rd quarter Mo if sustained, could have carried the Cats to a W.  It didn't and we didn't.

As I for one know, the Cat players check in on this board to observe--  My comment to you is that we back you,  always did  always will.  You have another job to do this coming week up in my neck of the woods,  get ready and get er done.

See you all in Tacoma.

Side Notes--  (usski) Baldy as you call him is not a poster, but as I know him personally--well,  he is an American Original-- Just chill  Oh yea and you spell it Linfield--  drop the d dummy !!

On the bearkittie student fans , drop down a pair and have some class-- especially the guy that crashed our post game tailgate, yelling " you are living in the past" over and over again while he pointed to his chest.  He was especially funny since he was as big as rudy and then ran off and got in his buddies old heap and headed south-- NICEEEE  what a punk.

We did have some WU tailgaters right next to us pre game and it was all good-- threw back  some electric longies and food--.It wasn't a frickin lovefest but we got along

OAS, it was great to see you cruise in in your Roush Red Mustang that Pat picked up the tab for--Did you set the record for number of cheerleaders that can fit in a mustang ??  You the man

The WU Pregame tailgate was a blast - Speck stopped by and delivered a very humorous speech (as is his usual at home games for the Bearcat Boosters Club)

Yes, I am.

Question: Are one of you Lindfield posters "Baldy"? If so, why would you antagonize a bunch of smart ass students?

.....I think I know who you are referring to....and no, I'm pretty sure he is not a poster on this board.

All our boy's did yesterday was lose one game. Let it go and let's get ready for the road trip to UPS.

The UMHB loss did not surprise me... I posted earlier about their injuries. The CRU resembles a MASH unit right now. If they make the playoffs, the CRU must get healthy or they will be one and done.

Forgive me for my spelling; long day, long drive, I had made a significant adult beverage for myself before sitting down to the computer, and I went to CWU.

If the next election goes poorly you will be able to use the Americans with Disabilities Act   to sue me for my mean spirit ness, but then Lewis and Clark will be able to sue their opponents for bad intentions and violation of the Equal Opportunity Act.

I was sitting with a bunch of Linfield and Willamette parents and fans and the atmosphere was collegial and fun. Everybody was talking and having a great time watching the momentum of the game swing back and forth. Yesterday's game represented the two programs well. Great parents, fans, players and institutions. "Baldy" brought it on himself.
