If everything works like I hope then it would be an 8-1 Redlands team making the trip North to face the #1 seed Willamette Bearcats. That would be an interesting matchup.

Interesting if you'd like to see Redlands get blown out.

As I'm putting together my article, I came across a point Speckman made that I found interesting.  Linfield made the decision to play with the wind at their backs in the third quarter instead of the fourth.  He felt it might have been a move to try and get the Wildcats back in the game immediately (since they had the momentum coming out of halftime).  What do you guys think?

For argument's sake, here are the starting field positions for the two teams on their fourth quarter possessions:

Willamette: own 43, midfield, own 11 (off the pick)
Linfield: own 37, own 20, own 27, own 31

In the fourth quarter, Rowan had two 70 yard kickoffs, Birkhofer's was 55.  Egan's only punt went 24 yards.  I also wonder if the wind might have caught that high snap in the first. ???

blue,

Did you have to spend sometime in the timeout room today? ;D ;) ;)
Only at a D3 football game could you have 2 seats on the 50 yard line (2 rows behind bluenote) and have an obstructed view!
I love D3 Football!!!

Are you really going to start that garbage now?  Save it for the off season when Redlands ducks us again.

Go pound sand or stand outside and take some really deep breaths of that SoCal air or better yet…go rub some ointment on Selway's busted foot.

*Argue*Bicker*Slander*Finger-pointing* Beware Kitties! Sounds like Linfield will begin to burn from inside out!

I'm pretty sure we've handled a couple of "down" years in the last 53...Most years your rats are thrilled with 6 wins!   ::)

Then again all you do is complain
Born in the Woods! Raised by a Bear! Double set of dog teeth! Triple coat of hair! Two brass balls and a cast iron rod! We're bad mutha#$*@ers! And WE ARE BUCS BY GOD!

Struck a cord I see. There are some testy Cat fans on the board the last few days. Are there any anger management professionals on the board that can assist the Cat Nation through this period of grieving?

I didn't see the Linfield-Willamette game, but one look at the Linfield roster immediately told me what's wrong. The Wildcats have Cole Bixenman, Kole Krieger, Cole Franklin, and Cole Rogers. You guys should really think about using an alternative fuel so your train won't run out of steam. Willamette sure didn't; they just kept going Woo-Woo. And although Linfield has a smooth-running Ford they also have four Lemons.

OK, I know this is an extremely delayed reaction, but can I just say we're still laughing about this . . .?!?

Any truth to the fact that the head ref was a Willamette Grad?  ???

Just heard it from a D3.com source that will remain anonymous  ;D.

Unbelievable -  let's try for some clarity here, shall we?

You ask a question and phrase it as "Any truth to the fact that the head ref was a Willamette Grad?"

Facts ARE Truth - there should be no question. Posting as such in this forum without  corroboration is simply deflamatory.

So, Tuxguy - who in this list is a WU Alumni?:

Referee: Michael Batlan  •  Umpire: Paul Collard  •  Linesman: Jim Richards  •  Line judge: Rich Troyer  •  Back judge: Gerry Rasch  •  Field judge: Bob Rose  •  Side judge: T. Migchelbrink •  Scorer: Tom McFadden  •

The Head Referee was / is the Willamette grad. You can read it hear from WU own web page: http://www.willamette.edu/athletics/alumni/

An excerpt from their web site:
Willamette University Alumnus Michael Batlan
Listen to Michael Batlan

Listen to alumnus Michael Batlan talk about his football and officiating careers, as well as the unique opportunities Willamette University has provided him.

A much more responsible post than TuxGuy's, which to me was simply accusatory.

But weren't the facts there even if he stated them in shorthand layman's terms?

I don't believe I said that the outcome would have been different, just find it strange the league doesn't have another ref so that in such a big game we don't have any controversy.

Bearcatfan, just to let you know....you read way to much into my post, sorry for any mis-communication on my part. ( did I say that?)

Welcome fwgis, good points.

Apology accepted. :)

IMHO, it wasn't much of a stretch on my part to read into it the "obvious" implication, especially with no corroboration.
