But weren't the facts there even if he stated them in shorthand layman's terms?

Sure if that's how you see it. To me, it was simply accusatory.

Now that there's some factual evidence that's come to light, it's easy to look back and say it was a factual post in "layman's terms"

Thanks for the correction on Amy Tan....We can still claim her anyway....BTW, has anyone read Prof J's book of his experiences in China... and his interacting with Chinese students at Linfield?....Interesting read.

Reading the NWC and MIAC boards has become very interesting.  With Linfield and SJU  having  seasons that by their standards are less than acceptable, for lack of a better term, some of the fans have shown their true colors.  However, the vast majority of the Linfield and SJU posters have shown class either in a loss or a very close if not lucky win.

I learned that this board is very, very different from most other football boards in that the fans are supportive of their teams win or lose and for the most part are respectful of posters from other schools.  Zings in jest are one thing, personal attacks are completly different.  When I first started reading this board, I thought Linfield posters were obnoxious.  As I continued to read, I changed my opinion to them being loyal and supportive and with high expectations.

I guess what I am trying to say is that your team lost, and you showed class and continued to support them.  The SJU  posters are in the same category.  It is no wonder they are two of the best d3 programs around.

We are not wearing any halos here.
We can give better than we take even though we are a Kinder, Gentler WILDCAT Nation.
We pretty much police our own. Any gross malfeasance is handled in a timely manner.
Go into the grandstands and you will find people like Casey Allen's grandparents and Brett Elliot's mother, as well as retired professors.

Some have very clear memories of Willamette U. twisting a dagger when the opportunity presented itself. Way back when LINFIELD had only one National Championship banner to wave there lived a freshman ball player recruited by both schools.
He chose LINFIELD. The AD at Willamette, whose name rhymed with clueless, sat down and figured out that paper work could not have been completed in time and charged LINFIELD with an indiscretion. He lead a movement in the Northwest Conference to strip LINFIELD of football wins and prohibit any team from post conference play. The WILDCAT wrestling champs did not go to regionals, the basketball team won the NWC and could not go to Kansas City, etc.
One of the finer displays of poor haloship was a final bball game with Willamette at LINFIELD where the Willamette AD walked in the gym and shortly thereafter hundreds of Catbackers stood and began chanting,
"Lewis, Lewis, why'd you sc*ew us?!"
He left.

Struck a cord I see. There are some testy Redlands fans on the board the last few days. Are there any anger management professionals on the board that can assist the BullFrog Nation through this period of grieving?

PeeWee Herman is available.

How about Stuart Smalley (Al Franken)?  If he does not get in the Senate, he'll be looking for work?

Wow, 15 pages to catch up with since Saturday.  I was surprised by some of the reactions from Linfield "faithful".

I was really surprised by the final score of that game.  Not really surprised Willamette won, just by how much.  I hope the Bearcats do well in the post season.

I have to shake my head a little bit about the number of Willamette fans who have shown up now that the Bearcats won.  If they stick around and become regular contributors, that would be great.  I hope they aren't here now just to crow about one good season.

As for the Pirates, they survived a struggle at Menlo.  The Oaks seem to always play the Pirates tough in California.

Freshmen QBs played entire game at Menlo, and did well (from what I can gather from the radio and post-game reports).

Finally - I know the coaches tend to reward the conference champion, but I don't see how anyone but Adam Anderson can be the offensive player of the year again.

You'll always have bandwagoneers.  Linfield and Mount seem to defy that norm.  Always ready to go.  The MUC people are great.  Brice and I partied with them the night before the 2003 Stagg and I still keep in touch with them 5 years later.  Some dislike my love fest for MUC but I think they are what everyone strives for.

Hopefully, the NWC does not get hosed again.  With two losses and a Pool C available, you never know what they'll do.  Hopefully, Willamette will win out.  Although even with two losses, if that happens, one would be hard pressed to screw over the NWC two years in a row.

I've been a member of the Willamette community for about 4 years now, and sadly really haven't had good reason to be excited about the football team until this year.

Now that I've found this forum, I'll try to stick around!
