Heck, bypass WC11 and go straight to the article on TJ and read about my monkey.

How's this for a slap in the face for the always optimistic but ultimately mediocre UPS Loggers.  From Adam Johnson's Around the West Column:

:D This was in regards to Linfield preserving the streak with a win against UPS last week...I'm still laughing

Puget Sound is worse than Lewis & Clark?

There are NO bad teams in the NWC, only less successful ones! :)  Lewis & Clark and UPS are among the less successful this year, but it changes.

No.  I highly doubt we'll put up 76 points on UPS.

Great article on TJ. He sounds like an outstanding individual and his contributions and support of Linfield are just awesome. I'm glad he's an alumni and part of the Linfield family.  I enjoyed the part about the monkey, but tell me, what kind of food is hidden in rain gutters?

Yeah, I sent Adam an e-mail about that as soon as I read it yesterday. The Loggers are currently tied with L&C at the bottom of the NWC standings (so that would be accurate to say). But that's only because they haven't played head-to-head yet. I think L&C is still at least a year away from a conference win (which gives them the title of worst team - if the term really needs to be used).

Take note as others have stated, North Central ends up in the west region as the #1 seed.
Northwestern, MN, although touting a PLU grad as head coach(news to me), is very unlikely to make the tournament as they still face the University of St. Thomas in the final weekend.
Concordia, early season loser to Willamette, is in the lead but has a home game left left with Carleton(co-conference leader) and an away game at Gustavus(co-conference leader & hot as a pistol).
St. John's(co-co-co-leader) has Augsburg at home and Carleton(co-leader) on the road.
Where's Coco?
I'm guessing the WIAC will provide two of the tourney entrants.
Developing....

No personal knowledge of the Northwestern team, just see the head coach is listed on this site as Kirk Talley, PLU '81, and a teammate of mine.

Agreed, I don't think they will make the playoffs.

Are they the team that played two games in one day a couple of years back??

Kirk is a great guy.

With the discussion of recruiting and D2 vs. D3 I thought this little tidbit from the WOU game preview page was interesting:

"Oregon's team: Western Oregon has 98 players from the state of Oregon on its 2008 roster. 74 percent of the squad hails from the state, a percentage more than double of any other football roster in the Oregon University System. Here’s the breakdown.
Western Oregon 74%
Portland State 32%
Eastern Oregon 31%
Southern Oregon 30%
Oregon State 29%
Oregon 16%"

Yeah, didn't they score 24 points against Linfield?   How bad can they be?

Actually, the question should be how bad can Linfield be and still win?  I think last weeks game may have been the answer to that question.  But to answer your question---UPS can be pretty bad! ;)  Just not as bad as Lewis and Clark....

Well, that's good because I don't like going to a football game and thinking I'm at a track meet.  I want the Bearcats to win on Saturday against UPS, but I don't like games where they haul bodies off the field or where it's boring because one team is killing the other.

RP,
I went to school with TJ, he had the second coolest car on campus next to my
1070 Chevelle SS454.  Great article on him.

We used to have a 66 Chevelle, Tudor Deluxe 200 w/ a short block 350 -- cool car, sweet ride.
