Mudball, believe me the FIRE is there.  I have been on the sidelines of several of the Cat games this last three years, have seen things up close.  Coach Smith is not over his head, no way no time.  Holy crap batman we are 5-2 with 2 to go, losing to two ranked teams, you would think we lost to Redlands or something the way you are talking.

Good one....but you can't lose to someone who wont play you in the first place. ;)

It's wolves hunting season tomorrow. I heard the wolves will be escorted up 99W by the old Police Academy alumni. I hope they make it here on time with all the donuts shops along the way!!!  ;D

GO WILDCATS

Only at a D3 football game could you have 2 seats on the 50 yard line (2 rows behind bluenote) and have an obstructed view!
I love D3 Football!!!

I'll be anxious to see how the Bearcats perform in the rain; so far this season all their game days have been blessed by perfect fall football weather.
Forecast is for temps in the low-mid 50's and Rain in Salem on Saturday.

Not quite true.  As I recall (and the Whitworth folks can correct me if I'm wrong), the game up in Spokane was played in less than ideal conditions, with some rain and wind.  But I am glad we're playing on turf at McCulloch instead of at Baker Stadium, "the worst surface in the league," according to Speckman.

I stand corrected - I watched part of that game online and don't recall seeing any rain, but the Game stats have this line in the Scoring Summary: "Temperature: 60s  • Wind: light SW • Weather: showers"

I think the team has been practicing in the rain every day this week.

Oh, how I don't miss that!  ;D  Practicing in the rain and 40 degree weather in November in Tacoma.  I've played in snow and rain.  I'll take the snow anyday.

Coco:

My next job is to send Mrs. Coco birthday greetings.  I hope you have planned a nice day for her.

I may let my Wartburg Knights fend for themselves in tomorrow's game for the IIAC championship.  Driving 2 1/2 hours in snowy rain then sitting in it for 3 hours is more than these old bones care to do.  I'll clean the garage and listen to the game instead.

....so which link has the best Pool C info. I'm thinking if we beat WOU and PLU we may have a chance at a playoff bid? Not sure what other teams are in the running......and what their standing would be compared to ours ?

Coach Smith's record does the most talking...something like 18 W 5 losses....that's pretty good in anyone's book...better than Locey's at this time.
Don't forget your booties cause it's cold out there!

Thanks Pat.....

Linfield Coach Joe Smith stated in the paper today that Linfield needs to win this contest to stay in contention for post season consideration.....

Mrs. C enjoyed what she received from the Warthogs. Yes, I've got a nice day planned for her. I'm taking her to a football game. We'll have rain, but we're under cover, so that's okay.

GO WILDCATS!

Let me join my birthday greetings with the chorus as well!!  I know she will enjoy the game, although not, perhaps the close quarters with the knees that I remember.  Just don't fumber the after game gig!!  That nice restaurant or better needs to be included Candle lights optional.  They sometimes catch hair on fire, but definitely good food!!!  All the best Mrs. Coco.  Oh and Coco, have you spoken to the boys about a fantastic win for Mrs. Coco's big present?  Let's phone that one in as Gig Harbor would say!  Wish I were there to help celebrate, ;D ;D ;D

Linfield's record the last three years has not been that bad.    They have been losing to very good teams.    Even last year's big upset by Willamette looks a little different now, based on what the Bearcats are doing this year.     And the Wildcats have been plagued by injuries to key personnel this year.

My concern is Linfield's breakdown in fundamentals.
Traditionally Linfield and the PLU teams of the 80s and 90s were ALWAYS sound on fundamentals.    Solid tackling, good, hard blocking, minimal turnovers, and near perfect special teams.

The last three years we have witnessed far too numerous Wildcat turnovers and too many penalties.    We saw this begin in the 2003-2005 period; but those extremely talented teams usually overcame those miscues and won.

Now, this year we have seen a punting team with very un-typical soundness.     Historically, Linfield did not allow blocked punts and bad snaps!

If the Wildcats coaching does not improve on all of these fundamentals, then we will remain a 6-3 team.    Good, but not great.

Yet, I do believe in Wildcat football.    No mistakes today.   Linfield 24, WOU 21.

GO CATS!  GO!
GO CATS! GO!

Last year's WU team that beat Linfield only lost to Whitworth (2007 Champs) by a field goal in OT and most of their other games were lost by a TD or they won them.   It would have been a different season with a healthy Grant Leslie.   Ryan Whitcomb is a good QB but he wasn't used to taking on the whole game --- they used to share time and it worked pretty well.

Linfield is a good team -- there's just other teams out there this year that have figured out how to beat them.  It's a very competitive NWC.  With that said, I just want to say one more time -- Linfield can beat  WOU today!  Go Cats of all colors -- Bear & Wild!
