I had playoff question for those who know the system better than I.

Did Linfield's loss to an NAIA school today essentially eliminate them from playoff contention or does the selection committee more or less see it as a bye week?

Speaking of weird . . . Willamette finishes the game with 184 yards rushing and 285 yards passing. :o  Grant Leslie was 7-13 for all 285 yards and five touchdowns.

Great 2nd half by the Bearcats today - I was seriously worried in the first half!

Leslie's pass to Willamette's "Ocho Cinco" Scott Schoettgen in the 2nd quarter was a thing of beauty and definitely the highlight of the first half.

Congrats, Bearcats on clinching a playoff and (at least a tie for) the NWC Championship!

Western Oregon is an NCAA Division II team and not affiliated with the NAIA (National Animal Interest Alliance) ::). I don't know about the playoff situation.
Go Cats! Make it 62 in '17!

Who knows how the Selection Committee will see things? I'd be totally surprised if they don't drop out of the regional rankings this week, though.

Officially the loss doesn't matter but Linfield didn't really have much chance before this week so this certainly only solidified that position.

With regards to the NWC - if Linfield beats PLU next week and Willamette (somehow) loses to Menlo, are they "Co"-Conference Champions, or is there a tiebreaker to determine the championship?

I would think that they would be "co-champs" of the NWC but in the case of the auto bid....Willamette would go because of the head to head win.

I think you're right Bluenote - checked the NWC Website and for Football Championship there's no mention of a tiebreaker that I could find.  Only that the champ is determined by their record in the 6 NWC games.

Linfield didn't lose to an NAIA school today.....it was a scholarship DII school

My My My......

All I can say is it was a hard fought  game today.
Sure the Wolves had the size...( WR at 6'6 and 6'4 to our 5'9 guys ):o. but the Cats battled on both sides of the ball today. I didn't see any letting up, just good hard nosed Football today by the Cats. We were in the game up until the last 40 seconds.

About the last few minutes...... what is with the play calling!!!! the no huddle takes 25+ seconds..... what's the purpose.  And we still had a few delay of game  penalties. We burned the first 2 time outs in the first 6 minutes of the second half which left us in the hurry mode at the end.

Did anyone else see that we drove the ball down the field in the no huddle. Maybe  use it once in a while early.

Loved the 3 reverse for a TD....Let's open up the play book.

As always.. these have been the opinions on Tuxguy, a former Linfield pep band member, but a Linfield Football fanatic.

GO CATS!

I am seeing a lot of "great effort" and "battled hard". That pretty much reeks of "moral victory". When was the last time that Linfield football felt good about a Moral victory.

Things need to change and get better next year. Locey got it going in his 4th season and I think Catdome Nation will be expecting some of the same in 2009.

Burger at the Deluxe was LEGENDARY today.

A couple bad breaks and a couple mental errors for the 'cats but in general we can keep or heads up after that one. Linfield stood right in there and battled a good DII team right to the finish. Probably gave WOU one of their tougher games of the year. We played hard nosed football today....The defense was especially impressive....and in general the offense moved the ball well.....good work 'cats! Let's end the season with a win at PLU!

---bad breaks and mental errors are the story of the past 3 years. Since when did Linfield football feel good about "moral victories?".

I thought turnovers were the story of the last three years....and we only had one of those today :)  But seriously, it was a tough fought game and it sucks to lose but probably one of the Cats best overall games this year.  I think the obvious weaknesses were on special teams (blocked PAT and FG, poor punting, and poor tackling on kick returns) and playcalling (not necessarily the plays that got called but the actual getting the play called---2 Timouts early in the 2nd half, slow "hurry up" offense, etc.).
Go Cats!
