4. UWW will win soundly on Saturday and I think deep inside, WU backers know it!  ;D

I'll be their wide eyed and bushy tailed to experience the pummeling!  ;D

I know you will, Blue. Then you can weigh in with your own opinion on the UWW defense. If you sit too close to the field, slip in ear plugs when WU has the ball. The sound of the hits will be deafening!

Happy Thanksgiving to our friends in the NWC! Here's to good football, great fans, and wonderful (and plentiful) food.

P.S. Here's hoping we get reacquainted with some of you guys next season (around this time of year...)  ;)

...Bluenote, btw, don't think for a minute the UWW team or fans are looking to gain support from anyone in the NW - the fact that nobody in the NW (or far west for that matter) cares a rats a$$ for UWW will just make it that much sweeter if the 'hawks get out of Dodge (Salem) with a win and a chance to play another day.

...as I mentioned a day or two ago, I hope WU lives up to the hype, too...they sound like they enjoy their unique style of play on offense, but I assume they are rather vanilla on defense - maybe even a little suspect against a good and efficient offensive team - doesn't seem like they've played one yet this year...any thoughts?  This 24/7 talk about the offense makes me wonder!!  ;)

Defensive Stats to ponder:
PPG allowed-18.5
Rushing Yardage Allowed:
     Average Per Rush.......          3.3
     Average Per Game......      134.7
     TDs Rushing............               14
TOTAL OFFENSE:
 Average Per Play.......                  4.5
 Average Per Game.......            323.5
INTERCEPTIONS:
WU - 13 TD's
Opp - 2  TD's 0

WU's D has been able to make the Big play all season, and they've been able to make the adjustments necessary to turn games around (adjustments made vs Oxy in the 1st quarter last week and vs. Linfield in the 4th quarter stand out, but also against Whitworth after being behind in the 3rd quarter).

You'll also be hearing from the game announcer "ANOTHER BEARCAT FIRST DOWN" each and every time they are able to move the ball ten yards. :D Gets a little ridiculous after awhile. :D

Pedestrian numbers IMO!  Not great, but adequate...I guess the offense is the priority at WU.

Are you saying there's something wrong with the PA Announcer getting the fans into the game, encouraging the home team?  First Downs are important, ya know?!

I thought the PA announcer was fine. For me what got a little ridiculous was Merben Woo going 50+ yards each and every time he touched the ball.

I'm with Red and Purple on this one. A little inflection of voice is one thing. Cheerleading is another. If he wants to be a cheerleader, he should grab a megaphone and kneel down at the bottom of the triangle.

As Jack Webb would say, "Just the facts, ma'am."

I've sat in opposing stadiums before and after about three minutes felt like: "OK, we get it, you are a Bearcat (fill in team's name) fan."

Fortunately, it probably won't matter because WU won't get that many first downs anyway.

BoBo,

The WU defense isn't a great defense BUT they have had a knack all year long to make enough plays to make the difference in the end.  You can control the ball all you want because the Bearcats offense hasn't need much time this year to score.

...and I'll say it again Willamette's special teams has been stellar all season long and has made huge plays in huge games, as my Wildcats found out the hard way.

Willamette has all year been better as the game moves along so the Hawks better make good from the start or it could be a long trip back to the Perk and I don't want DLK to kick all the players out from their low cost housing.  ;)

I noticed that they score almost 35% of their points in the 4th quarter.

Low cost housing...that brings a chuckle!!

Bleedpurple may be right.  WU only got 14 first downs against OXY and I'm sure UWW has a much better defense.  Then again, it's hard to get first downs with all those 50+ yard TD's...
