Okay, time to clear up a couple of things.

1.) With regards to wildcat11's first point, I too thought we should have kicked field goals.  But we've had incredible success on fourth down inside the 30 this year - something like four touchdowns that I recall.  Our defense was being physically manhandled by the Warhawks, and I don't think Speckman had confidence that they could make stops.  Also, Rowan hasn't made a FG from over 40 yards this year.  While I disagreed with the call to go for it, I can definitely see the thought process.  If we convert even one of those, it's 21-7 instead of 21-3 or 21-6.

2.) Personally, I saw interference.  But we can disagree without being disagreeable, right? ;)  I'll be interested to see what BearcatFan's perspective is after watching the CCTV replay.

3.) I'll take responsibility for confusion about the "inside the five" quote, which I had to shorten for word count reasons.  GHC, he was talking about being inside our own five yard line, like when UWW downed a punt at the four, then Leslie got sacked back to the one.  The essence of what Speck was saying is that WU has a set of plays that we use to get out from under our own goalposts.  Given UWW's defensive line, he wasn't confident that we'd be able to move the ball out in that kind of situation.  We called a blocking scheme that didn't work, and Deon Horne got tackled in the end zone.

Punt and rely on your defense, although in this game that may not have been a good choice.

Speedy,

I said the same thing with blue,

The old 2nd or 3rd down quick kick. Coach Rutschman pulled that many times to give the team a breather.
Put your D back on the field and hope for the best.

D.O.C. says it's my bed time.....night all!
Only at a D3 football game could you have 2 seats on the 50 yard line (2 rows behind bluenote) and have an obstructed view!
I love D3 Football!!!

Thanks for clearing up point number 3. When I first read your article I thought you meant in the oppositions 5 yard line. Makes sense now. Thanks.

I found them on the official NCAA web site on the attendance link for DIII football. The numbers represent the 2007 season.

gotcha! Sorry, missed that. I suppose UWW probably did have 9 home games with home games throughout the playoffs. Thanks for pointing that out!

I made a mistake, Rat. In fact, I make a lot of them. I think it reflects on the fact that I am human, not on my education. And when someone else makes them,I don't normally make a big deal about it. But when someone denigrates my alma mater, it's hard to sit back silently. Your comment seems a bit harsh given the context, D4 Rat.

...if Linfield ever got a Pool C bid do you think we could be shipped to the East?

Doubtful due to travel restrictions, which is not at all fair to West Coast teams. However, if it happened? I believe you would get to the semis at a minimum!

Sadly the CCTV Replay didn't happen last night. CCTV is in the process of moving to a new facility and all they're airing on all three channels is bad Christmas music and Belly Dancing!  Maybe they'll replay it after the move, but I'm not gonna hold my breath...
