I read the AD's article on the scheduling of two SIAC schools for the 2010/2011 season.  In the article he states that the down side to the scheduling was the huge budget increase.  I fail to see how that is such a big deal as I'm sure they are home and away series on alternating years.  Clearly a trip to Southern California can't be as expensive as a trip to Texas.  Appears to me to be about a wash to the budget over a two year basis and clearly is a better deal for the Cats to be playing within Division III.
He only mentions calling the SIAC schools in Southern California but there is also the Independent schools like Chapman is Southern California who are probably also trying to fill out their schedules.
Maybe he is assuming a continuation of the Texas game when considering the increased expenses (e.g. 2 big trips in a year instead of only one).

That's a good question....but I doubt we will be playing Hardin-Simmons after this next year. If anybody knows for sure let us know.

Massey ratings are always good for a few giggles.

It's going to be great to have a few more D3 games in two years. It's good to see that CLU and LaVerne have the cojones to play us. C'mon! Are we really all that scary? Willamette doesn't think so. Nor WOU

What some of you UWW fans don't seem to get is the following:

You're playing the NWC Champ...not a CoChamp...not a good pool B or C team....We here at the NWC can see that Willamette is a special team this year....even if some of us don't want to admit that....Oh wait...it's the mighty WIAC Co-Chump...I mean Co-Champ were playing this weekend....the could of, should of team...who could of...oh wait it's the mighty WIAC.... ;D  Some of you WarHawk fans don't seem to take it serious to realize that the NWC is the only conference to have two legitimate National Champs since 1999 during the MUC reign of terror.  When has the "mighty" WIAC accomplished that...when will they accomplish that?  The NWC could be on the verge of making it three National Champs since 99....Many of us here are excited about that.

Now if Willamette loses Saturday...I'll forget this comment was ever posted....In fact I'll delete it. ;D

Well, well, well....And now you are on the bandwagon! Welcome aboard Criswyly. Enjoy the ride!

Okay, okay.....so I'm joining the WarHawk bandwagon.

I jumped on the warhawk bandwagon in '05 after that heartbreaker at the catdome.

Thanks #11 for the update.

What do you cats think about Franklin next year as the QB and moving Boehme to a receiver.

I say move Franklin to RB or WR and keep Boehme at QB.  Or just have both in the backfield.....Franklin can take a snap and throw it deep to Boheme, then on the next play while Boehme is catching his breath he can take the snap and throw a swing pass to Franklin in the flat and watch him run for big yards.....done.  I'll email coach Smith now :)
Go Cats!

...I'd like to see Franklin play whatever position Hazenburg played on offense...slot? but also keep him as a back-up qb. The guy needs to be on the field though and running the ball. He can flat out fly. I wonder if he has good hands for catching?

Pretty amazing to see Whitewater in the final again. Shows you that NWC is very competitive. It could have been Willamette there if they hadn't given the game away in the first half to Whitewater. I didn't think Wartburg or UMHB looked all that great. After UMHB lost to Southern Oregon I questioned how good they really were, even if they were a little banged up....I mean who isn't banged up?

WC11, thanks for the update on the scheduling.

I think the NWC rep performed pretty well this year considering they lost to UWW by 3 and UWW has spanked its other opponents so far by an average of 24+. Even if the Warhawks had chosen to punch it in at the end vs. Willamette to make it a 10 point win, that's still better than any of the other playoff teams have done against them up to this point. Similar to '05 when UWW narrowly defeated the NWC champ by 3 and steamrolled everyone else (by an average of 33 points) before losing to The Mount by 7.

It would have been interesting so see how far Willamette might have gone if the committee had chosen to do what they did last year and place UWW in the North instead of the West. In any case, they have built quite the juggernaut out there in Whitewater. Trying to fathom how a team other than The Mount can get to four straight Staggs makes my brain hurt.
A packed student section behind an end zone cheering on guys they will actually see in class on Monday is almost as cool as The Streak.

Considering how much UWW lost last season you really have to appreciate where Whitewater is as a program.  An incredible accomplishment for sure.

In terms of the QB situation....I think the 'Cats will for sure try to find ways to use both of their unique skill sets.  After that SOU game Franklin wasn't playing at full speed for the rest of the season in terms of his ankle and I think the Linfield faithful would have been very impressed with Boehme in the pocket.  We have two years with both of these players and I'm very excited to see what develops.

On the wagon just for this week....

I am more interested in seeing how the D shapes up....after all we know it's the D that wins championships.

From the Wall Street Journal

http://online.wsj.com/article/SB122912757246703211.html?mod=rss_opinion_main

"Joe Barton (R., Youknowwhere) and Michael McCaul (R., Noprizesforguessing), along with Illinois Democrat Bobby Rush, on Thursday announced legislation to essentially outlaw the BCS. Their bill would "prohibit the marketing, promotion, and advertising of a postseason game as a 'national championship' football game, unless it is the result of a playoff system." Any noncompliant games would be "treated as violations of the Federal Trade Commission Act as an unfair or deceptive act or practice."

Fans of the Florida Gators and Oklahoma Sooners (this year's title-game participants) might not agree that the current process is fraudulent. But forget about the merits; this is Congress we're talking about. With Texas and Texas Tech, Southern California, Penn State and Utah among this year's malcontents, the votes could add up quickly. And President-elect Obama is a self-professed playoff proponent."
