Hey Coco,
Lets buy one of those teams.  I see its only a 1.5 million initial buy in plus other expenses.  Mrs Coco could make her world famous cookies for the players.  sounds like fun

Why don't you each buy one?
Go Cats!

Nah, if we each bought one, then we'd have to fight over players. This way maybe we could get WC 11 to coach for half price.

Maybe you could sell some shares to raise capital.  I'd be good for a couple.  ;)

Oh....I didn't consider that angle....You might have to pay him full price so that he'll do highlight films, too though.

OK...tell me why this won't be the final standings next year.....

Come on Blue.....I know it was a slow day at Band Practice.....but our Cats will be back in 2009 at the top of the heat.  Willamette looses their studs and the Rats won't have the horses to match the Cats next year.  I think the Cats will have the most potent offensive backfield in  the conference and the Big D will be even stronger than 2008.  If the Cats take our Hardin Simmons in  the  opening game of the season.....they may run the table.

Actually I just got done with a nice jam session in Portland that wasn't slow... but let's talk football. OK.....Who do you pick to win the conference?  :o

PS....Willamette doesn't loose much ....they were a fairly young team and their #1 QB will be back next year. And that is the key to their offense...just like any other team including Linfield.

...ya ....I have to agree... Menlo was a big dud this year. After they held Linfield to 3 field goals, loosing only 9-0 ( at Linfield),  I thought they may be fairly decent....then they lost to PLU at home.....and then we beat PLU like 45-0. Go figure....

Blue,
I might be wrong again.....as I was the last two years when I  was convinced the Cats would win  the conference.  In spite of that, I'm going with the Cats to  win the  conference this  year and head to  the playoffs.  This Senior Class will have something to prove because they've been there and tasted the  success of playoff victory and I really think they want to prove to one and all they can  be winners once again.  The talent is definitely there it just needs to be used to  it's potential.
Of course, who  knows what  injuries will bring to the  team or any of the teams.  Where would the Cats have ended up last season without all the  early season injuries?  That's the wild card that can upset the best of apple carts.

The whole conference was young last season but it's January so I'm not going to get wrapped up in where the 'Cats may wind up this fall.  All I know is that the 'Cats are going to be very talented and have two outstanding quarterbacks to utilize.  We'll find out a lot during the first two games of the season.

BTW, just posted up a new player blog: Drew Fisher "From a recruit to a Wildcat"

Those are all good points. Of course all of us Linfield fans want the  Wildcats to win the conference. I was just trying to be motivational  ;D ....if you know what I mean. I do think that Whitworth, Linfield and Willamette all have a shot at the title (who knows, PLU may even be in the mix).....it will just come down to who wants it the most, makes the least amount of mistakes, has the better athletes, executes the best and has the best game plans... like previous years.

(509)Rat

Willamette loses about half of their team (I posted on that awhile ago), and they lose their #1 QB...I think we learned last season that Leslie made that team much more dangerous with his ability to accurately throw the football downfield.  The game plan before was always to stop the run and let Whitcomb make mistakes in the passing game (which he usually did).  I think Linfield and Whitworth will battle for 1-2, with Whit returning nearly their entire defense (and the player they lose had nowhere near the impact of a guy like Summers) as well as their entire offense (1 o-lineman).  Sounds like Kemp will be back and will go to WR or DB, he's one of the better athletes on the team and will improve whatever unit he joins.  Of course, Linfield will get to choose between 160 guys to fill only a handful of positions, I don't see them finishing 3rd.

PLU will be tough and should finish ahead of menlo.  UPS won't be last only because we have LC in our league.  Hopefully the pio's can get a conference win against UPS or Menlo this year...would be nice for their recruiting efforts and our overall conference strength.

With the way our conference schedule works out we'll know a lot in a very short period of time.  Whit and Linfield get Hardin-Simmons in weeks 1 and 2.  Then they play SCIAC opponents (Whit has La Verne and Redlands, Linfield will play Oxy).  I haven't seen a non-conference schedule for willamette yet but if it includes cal lu, concordia-moorehead, or other equally talented teams then we'll get a good idea of where they are at very early on.  Conference play opens up with Whit at Willamette, followed by Linfield at Whit.  Then we get a week off and see Linfield at Willamette.  The conference should be all but decided with 3 weeks left on the schedule.

Glad to see Linfield finally makes it out from the "Who Cares" spot in the final conference standings next year  ;D
