But with no bye this year, it will be easier to slide into the playoffs ...

Wow, I feel bad for the player's on the teams of the two school's that ended their winning streaks.

They'll never live that down or forget about it :'(

Come on now Repete.....Linfield would be "sliding" into the playoffs just as easily if L&C would be playing against the Cats next week where our scout team would have beaten them by three TD's.   I'm not so sure that games against Lewis and Clark prepared Linfield much for the playoffs.   In fact, games like that are more of a risk than anything else.

Beancounter,
My point is that with the shortened schedule, it's probably better for LC to have a game against a No. 8 seed rather than having a week off and getting a 4 or a 5. No disrespect intended.

If for some strange reason WU should beat LC in the final game and providing they beat Whitworth next week what do you think that would do to the playoff mix? You throw out the bearcats losses against WOU and Azuza Pacific and they end out 6-1 with that only loss against MHB. And own the league championship (I know the NWC doesn't get an Auto). And no I don't expect the bearcats to beat Whitworth or Linfield but it Ain't over till its over.

WC 11,

Which game films would we give to the first round playoff opponent?  Would it be UPS, Menlo, Willamette?  If we win in the first round, which game films would we give to the second round opponent?

swede, the chance of that is about .001%, but if it happened it would totally throw the playoff selection into a tailspin. They would have to let Willamette in, since they would be undefeated in-region and conference champs, as well as a 1 loss defending champ Linfield. Some other bubble team would not be getting an at large bid, and I'm sure all of the teams on the edge would be holding their breath knowing one of them just got knocked out of the playoffs.
A packed student section behind an end zone cheering on guys they will actually see in class on Monday is almost as cool as The Streak.

WildCat'64....I believe the 1st playoff opposition team would get the last 2 games of the season. Which would be Menlo and Willamette. I think that's why we went pretty vanilla against Menlo and just basically ran out the clock (plus we needed to catch a plane in Oakland that left at 6:30 or something like that) the game with Willamette may be more intense.... just like SJU did a couple years ago when we got the tape of them playing Crown, boy that was informative...  :P   I wonder if you could send them the tape of the JV Team playing the alumni, that would be about as good as the Crown tape...  ;D

Wildcat'64

Bluenote,
Now that you mention it, I recall the Crown vs. SJU tape and all of the comments surrounding the tape.  One has to admit JG is a wise old owl and knew exactly what he was doing.  Maybe we just took a page out of his playbook?

I like your suggestion we send them the Alumni vs. JV game tape.  Probably will be the closest game of the year (if the first game is any guide).  Then the opponent could look at the "good old days (and thank goodness we didn't have to face them)" and look to the future and worry that hopefully they never have to face the young Cats in the future.

The positive about this years PLU team, they have plenty of opportunity to make their mark.   32 Sophmores can only grow....  However, time will tell.  This still stings.  I still haven't heard word one about the new stadium fundraising.... Hope to hear soon...

I see Elliott has lost his 7th place standing and moved down to 8th.  Not a good thing. Marcus Vick has taken his #7 slot.  How did that happen? That Vick family must have some huge quarterback genes.

Yes #8 now but I think the D&D push helped some as Elliott
climbed from 1084 to 1258 at last count. What day was it last week we started to vote for Brett? come Wed. evenng I can cast another legal vote as a lot of us can.

#64... right but stranger things have happened. I give the bearcats a decent chance of beating Whitworth. Would you think if that happened a wildcat win at WU still could  move the bearcats on as a pool C team? Again throw out WU losses to WOU and AzP and the only losses that would count would be to Linfield and MHB.

Hmmm... someone must be doing their job. Over the last half hour Brett has climbed from 1286 to 1318

It would be nice to have another home game before the playoffs start but I agree with you, The cats already have some people banged up and it wouldn't be wise to risk anymore.

It was Wednesday morning when we posted about it, and I'll definitely post another blog entry this upcoming Wednesday when a week has expired.

Thanks Pat!  Maybe you can knock some sense into the WIAC cheeseheads while you're at it.  They're being a bunch of haters...
