Great idea #11!  I'll plan on being there with fried chicken and peanuts.

......that pretty much covers all the food groups.  8)

Except for alcohol, the most important part of the food pyramid.

Only because I think the people from the NWC are knowledgable about both biology and booze.

After work tonight I stopped, with some of my co-workers, for a drink at a local watering hole.  I ordered Jeramiah Weed on the rocks with an olive.  The question was, "Is an olive a fruit or a nut?".  Does anyone have an answer?

snoop dawg:  Are you sure?  An olive is a the shell surrounding a seed.  It is very much like an almond or a walnut.

Biology and booze prompted me to pass on this article from my colleagues at the Collegian:

(FYI, this is on our opinion page. :o)

Speaking of the Collegian - not to toot my own horn, but I wrote a feature story this week on the retirement of longtime (22 years) WU basketball coach Gordie James.  While I know this isn't the basketball board, it's a great story for anyone who loves/plays/cares about any sport.  You can find it by clicking on the "Featured" tab at the top.

More like an avocado (fruit) than an almond or walnut.

D-Train,

Excellent Office reference.  My favorite all-time scene is when Dwight and Andy square off during Dwight's "Cornell admissions" interview.

BTW, ADvantage Catdome just posted up a player blog entry from Linfield Linebacker Paul Partlow "Extending A Helping Hand" Be sure to check that out.

By God, I knew there was a reason we parents sent our kids to expensive private schools!

That's impressive, WC11. I had no idea the Theta Chis did all that community service. When is the sorority auction? I'd like to buy a sorority girl, or at least rent one for a while.

Coco you old dog you !!  I'm proud of the effort

As for the subject of beer.  Back in the day chemistry wasn't my favorite subject, but I at least retained the formula on how to convert beer to urine.

Inasmuch as there has been a bit of good old fashioned rivalry over the past decades between the brothers of Delta Psi Delta and Theta Chi.......I as a proud brother of the Delta's can attest to the fact that  they too have a very extensive  philanthropic program each and every year to the citizens of McMinnville.  The stereotype of frat guys, like athletes, on  the Linfield campus are way off base.  These two greek organizations, as well as several sororities, have decades of community service to their tribute.  McMinnville is truly a better place to live as a result of  the contributions of fraternities and sororities at Linfield.
