Thanks!!! Your the man

Rockcat...
They have no reson to be haters. Its a vote for D3 as well as Elliott. D3 backs BE and if they have someone in it next year I'll back that person as well.

Swede,

Before you promise something, go to the WIAC board and read how the cheeseheads (which I became as of April this year) are crying that posters from MIAC, and NWC are polluting the sanctity of their pristine board. I guess they don't want to hear from other D-3 FOOTBALL fans, only from their close knit inbred family.

Thats because we all know who the last 2 champions have been. I don't give a hoot if they want to call UWW #2. I plan on seeing the Catdome this year when the real best of the west meet.

Wow, they (WIAC Board) are so out of touch that they actually think the Cat Dome is a domed stadium....... I didn't bother to tell them, I thought one of you could do it better. The Cat Dome is not a place but rather a state of mind. Similar to stepping behind the Pine Curtain in Collegeville!
As of now they're on DOUBLE SECRET Probation!

First of all, a minor correction of a previous post by Cat-fa- natic.  He stated that the Wildcat/Bearcat showdown on Nov. the 12th in Salem should not be much of a struggle based on the fact that UPS held Willamette to less than 100 yards rushing.  The Bearcats actually ran the ball very efficiently  vs. the Loggers..a quick check of both team box scores..indicated that the WUCats ran the ball 40 times for 235 yards...thats almost 6.0 ypc.  Regardless of this stat...the Wildcats are probably about a 29 (5 scores) point favorite in that one, but not because Willamette won't be able to run the ball (last year they moved it into scoring poistion relatively easily on the W-cat defense in the first half)..but failed to cash in on all three trips to the red-zone.  The reason the WUCats have their hands full vs. Linfield..is the same as every other D3 team they encounter...when ever you take one of ther best D1 QB's in the nation and pit him against D3 defensive personal...well it's basically a turkey shoot.  And the scores, and level of resistance the Wildcat offense meets is reflective of my opinion.  I personally think Elliott is phenominal and would be excellent at any level (maybe even make an NFL roster).  I even gave the kid a Heisman vote!!!! But ..honestly I've grown bored with the competitive imbalance that he brought to the NWC/National D3 scene.  At first it was a novelty...BE throwing 6 to 7 TD's a game...even with this seasons slightly retarded stats BE will still throw 109 TD passes in two years at this pacel.  Does anyone else agree that these passing orgies have become relatively meaningless.  In one way, there is no pressure on the Linfield team because of BE's talent (which is far more than any other D3 QB in history...then again he's not really a D3 QB ....is he?  On the other hand, the pressure is really on in the play-offs...if the Wildcats stumble (with all their talent and D1 QB)...then the whole season is a massive failure!!!!
I guess what I'm saying is.....how much fun can it be going to games in Mcminnville over the last two years (and it's a great place to go watch a game), knowing full well that the out come of the game will be over in the first 15 minutes.  I guess that's why they call it a turkey shoot....cause the turkeys don't have guns!!!!!!!

retagent.... So I haven't been to the WIAC board this year in fact I haven't been to any others besides the MIAC and that was only a handful of times. I apologize for my rudeness and will try to get around the other boards more often. I'd like to see more of you WIAC guys on the NWC board. Were really not all that bad. I know the WIAC has turned out some very good players over the years and year after year seem to be one of if not the most balanced conferences in the country.
Our neighbor is from Wisc. and has a son that works at River Falls. He's one heck of a nice guy.

What you have said about Brett Elliott is all quite true. But the main reason the Wildcats will beat the Bearcats is precisely because of the Linfield defense. It is not the same D you saw last year, it is much better. UPS had the best rushing offense prior to the game with Linfield (and still does) and it was shutdown. I have seen the games with UW-Stevens Point and Menlo this year and those two teams couldn't run the ball. The closest game Linfield has had was with Whitworth, a a pretty high powered passing team. The Bearcats have a minimal passing game. WU passing O is 4th in the NWC, only a little ahead of UPS. I predict Willamette will have their lowest rushing output of the year in two weeks.

I'm convinced Oldpa wakes up on the wrong side of the bed every morning. Take solace, he hates UW-La Crosse more than any NWC or MIAC postings.

WSUfan,

So very true and funny on Oldpa.  He's such a bitterman that he makes Dick Cheney seem like Dale Carnegie.

Maybe I need to send Oldpa a copy of Mr. Carnegie's "How to stop worrying and start living".

NWCprops: The Division III passing records (quarter, half, game, season) are full of dozens of names other than Brett Elliott.

I could not have said it any better myself. I have seen a few of his posts and this guy seems to be pretty miserable.  He seems to  find a way to be miserable no matter what.  Focusing on misery just creates more misery as we all know but apparently he's not happy unless he's miserable.  How's that for an oxymoron?

I frankly welcome people from across the country posting their thoughts on our board and I like going to other boards myself and I do it to have fun, make friends, and make a contribution but I'm not one to gloat, except in jest.

Let's face it we have a team this year and last year not of a lifetime but maybe 5 lifetimes so I always keep that in mind.
Next year we get back to normal and normal at Linfield is a pretty good position to be in.

Everybody knows Brett Elliott is a special player but it takes a whole team to win games..... and there are a bunch of special players on both sides of the ball this year, believe me! Locey and the other coaches also just do such a great job of getting the players on the same page and working hard as a team.....can't wait to meet up with Willamette! That should be a great game. If Linfield makes the playoffs...who would our projected 1st round opponent be? ...anybody have any opinions? I just hope it wouldn't be another NWC team....that's so.... well...... boring.   :P

Wildcat'64

Bluenote,
Well that's a loaded question!  So here goes a wild crazy and probably way off base answer. Ifffff the Cats beat the Bearcats (which they clearly should with the talent level of the Cats vs. the Bearcats) then they should retain the #1 seed and home field playoff advantage.  Iffff the #1 seed plays the #8 seed in the West - I believe that would be Monmouth (who qualified for the playoffs on Saturday).  In the Top 25 rankings today, they are lowest ranked team in the West (even behind Whitworth).  They are definitely IN so unless things change dramatically they should be the #8 seed.
The NCAA has flown teams from Iowa before to Oregon so that could be in the cards but two more weeks to go and things could change dramatically.

It's probably anyones guess at this point.  Any other wild guesses out there?

Swede,
Now you really owe retagent an apology. You called him a WIAC guy :) He's a tortured soul -- a MIACer who lives in the land of cheese (I'll take some Tillamook myself ...).

I think he was talking about some WIACers getting huffy about the BE vote push.

bluenote, great point about the 'Cats. This has been a sweeeet team with awesome players across the board on both sides of the ball.

Regarding the 'Cats first round opponent, I think it could likely be Monmouth. However, since that team is undefeated the committee may not want to ship them out to face the #1 seed. I see another possible opponent - one 'Cat fans know very well. You see, there is a school right now in Iowa who, if they win their next two games will finish with 1 loss and 2nd in their conference. They would likely receive an at large bid. They may be seen as more appropriate to send to the Catdome than Monmouth since, unlike Monmouth, they have a loss and didn't win their conference. That team (get ready desertcat1....): Central
A packed student section behind an end zone cheering on guys they will actually see in class on Monday is almost as cool as The Streak.
