Blue,

Speaking of Menlo:  Mercury News: Menlo College football players pled not guilty to felony assault, battery
Sheesh, no only is this kind of incident stupid but against your own schoolmates nonetheless....

I vote to bring in Dominey to fill Aune's spot...but only if he agreed to do his weekly KSLC radio show...now that was comic relief.

Hey WC11, agree mostly with your takes on NWC uniforms, but I think Puget Sound has the worst. The Loggers should revert back to the green and yellow style of the early 1990s, when the helmet was adorned with a couple of axes. I remember asking someone at Puget Sound about the old logo, and was told it was removed because it was politically incorrect.

Good to hear Menlo may be trying something different, their togs looked too much like Penn State, the way Hardin Simmons looks too much like LSU.

Southern Oregon had a sharp uniform when Dusty McGorty(spelling?), played there, but the Raiders are tough to look at now.

Mount Union has a clean look, but a little boring, although better than Wisconsin-Whitewater. I hate the trendy, multiple designs on uniforms, Willamette has the same problem.

Steel,

Here is a pic of that SOU uni when Dusty was playing.  SOU had a killer logo with the red tail hawk but when the new coach came in he went to a boring old block "S".  Yuk.

I wonder what's the story with the huge raider patches on the shoulder of Mount's home blacks..  It's unique to say the least.

I know that uniwatchblog.com really ran SJU into the mud for their last names being on the front of the helmets but actually I think that is a pretty darn cool look.

In regards to UWW, I know they break out some different unis but this version of their home unis I think are pretty darn tight.

Especially appealing is the Mount U player missing a tackle.
The johns idea works great when they lay someone out and the guy gets up to know who did it right away.
Wildcat 11, I thought you did a lot of work but this uniform guy is a maniac.

Yes, I check out the Uniwatch site from time to time, but when they start talking about socks and bowling outfits, I lose interest pretty fast.

Speaking about Northwest Conference uniforms, I remember looking at some early 1990s game video, and noticed Lewis & Clark made a radical switch from their normal orange and black combination for a few seasons.. The Pioneers adopted silver and black as their color scheme, and the helmets looked like the old USFL Boston/New Orleans/Portland Breakers. I think that was the last time the Pioneers were actually good, but I could be wrong. WC11, I'm sure you've seen this video during your Player Tribute segments, it would be interesting to hear from someone who knows why Lewis & Clark made such a significant change in those days, it must have affected all Pioneer sports programs and wasn't cheap.

When Linfield plays away...I hope they stay with the White/White Scheme. I think that looks the best. For some reason they look bigger and quicker to me.

Ditto Bluenote...
I think WC11 would agree that the Wildcats white on white with the White bucket and red cat really make a statement when they arrive.  When I was a kid and didn't know one team from the other...the guys in the white clothes were by default the good guys...right?

I can tell you exactly why - their head coach, Tom Smythe.  Smythe is kind of a high school coaching legend around Portland, but before all that he was an assistant with the Breakers.  Wherever he's gone, his teams have adopted the Breakers logo for their helmets.  When he got hired at L&C, they did the same thing:

Since Smythe is a great coach, they did well.  After he left, L&C reverted back to their previous style - both in helmets and in play.  Incidentally, since then Smythe has coached at both McNary High School (Salem):

and Evergreen High School (Vancouver)

Now he's back at Lakeridge, where he started before taking over at L&C.

Welcome aboard MacQuiz!  Good to see you posting.  I do agree that the White on White road uni's are slick.  I believe the only reason we go purple pants on the road are vs teams with grass fields.  The white pants are hard to get clean after a game on the natural stuff.  If anybody has an extra 10K laying around maybe we could get Linfield some red alt. home jerseys?  Maybe I'll ask GHC to start digging up his mobile lot in search of some of his tin cans that he fills with cash.

+1 B-Press.  That was a nice breakdown of Smythe's helmet logo history.

BTW...Lewis and Clark is dominating the "worst NWC uni" poll on the ADvanatage.  And to think they just changed to those this past season.

I have to vote UPS for the worst uniform look....reminds me of the sixties.    Nice article Wildcat11

I have to put my vote on UWW's black on black uni's. Black jersey with purple numbers, with black pants. makes them look tougher/faster/better. imo.

Whitewater does sport numerous different uniforms throughout the season. All different combinations of black, purple and white. My least favorite is their purple on purple (pants and jersey). They wore those on homecoming last season. Looks like they pulled it out of the closet from he 70's, quite hiddious.
