Bearcats tabbed preseason NWC favorites by the coaches.  Take 4 out of the seven 1st place votes while Linfield pick up the other 3.

Catdomealumni.com's take: No Surprises in the NWC Coaches Poll

Hey WC11,

What's your take on what kind of progress we can see from the rebirth of Pacific's football program? Will they have to zero in on the northwest portion of Oregon in order to compete with the other Oregon NWC programs? I don't imagine they would be as successful as Willamette and Linfield as far as mining the Central part of the state for talent right away. My guess is that it would take time to establish those kind of connections.
How do you think this will affect the struggling program at Lewis & Clark? If Pacific becomes competitive partly due to better administrative and community  support, while the Pioneers continue to lose, could the L&C program fold for good? If that happens, hopefully George Fox would add football down the line.

Curtain,

I think there are some others that would have some good thoughts on this but I'm not sure yet.  Their new coach has spent most of his time in California and I'm not sure if he has many relationships in the Pacific Northwest.  Those take time to build.

Overall, the make up of most of the rosters in the NWC has changed because most of the schools have to cast such a larger net in trying to identify potential applicants/recruits.  Much of where Pacific focuses is going to depend on the staff he hires and where he believes he can find kids that want to go and play ball at Pacific.

I'm still concerned about L&C but Pacific isn't the reason.  L&C has said they have the largest recruiting class coming in many many years but the Pios HAVE to start getting more competitive in conference soon.  That leads to another problem...the conference was very young last year and is going to be better this year than last.  Even with the added talent they're bringing in it could be another long year up on the hill and I don't know how many more of those they can afford.

Has anyone heard yet who will be the new radio play by play guy for Linfield? I'm assuming Dave Hansen will still provide color analysis.  Tough to believe the season is only about a month away.

Hey Tez, good to hear from you again. You know, I heard a story recently about a couple of Mount Union football players who tried an usual workout routine of pulling washing machines up apartment steps. Obviously, the stronger of the two players did most of the pulling, the other player was pushing.  Don't you think that's kind of risky, I mean, someone could have been killed! Who in their right mind would try such a thing?

I feel like we need some sort of NWC poster roll call to make sure we're all ready to go.  All you dormant posters log in (Like Tez18 did) and let us know you're alive.

I don't know if they still do this, but my freshman year at Whitewater, I remember the football team helped the freshman all move into the dorms. A group of football players were assigned to each dorm, and they carried up fridges, dressers, beds, etc. up flights of stairs.

not exactly washers and dryers, but you get the point..i think that sort happens all the time.

almost forgot....02 Warhawk checking in  ;)
