Looks to me like the Linfield has a new looking going on the athletics website...yes?
Yea. they do. I really like it.

Yeah,  major props to Kelly Bird and his team.  I think Kelly did a very cool thing in that the site was all designed in-house and that Linfield didn't use a Presto or Sidearm template web server that you see at some many smaller college sites.

Be sure to check out the three tabs on the front page as the "Wildcats In The News" does just that...gives you links to recent news stroies that feature Wildcats, and there are the "Feature Stories" which student reporters do a fine job in providing the scoops on their peers.

A excellent upgrade for sure.

FightBearcats

FightBearcats, the official numbers from Willamette are 5 returning starters on offense (Hirschberger, Guerra, Penkala, Horne, and Schoettgen) and 7 on defense (Alvarado, Carter, Lowe, Banta, Rogers, Gilgan, and Taylor).  Rowan will continue to punt and kick.  Whitcomb is listed as a "Returning Injured Starter."  I'm honestly not sure who's going to step up to replace the graduated players, and I probably won't know until I talk with him this week or next for my first Collegian article.

Thanks BCP.  I'll look for your article in the Collegian.  Practices have been looking sharp.  I like the attitude.  Speckman will keep them well grounded.

Rivergirl,
If I had a choice of being in the Hall of Fame I am positive it would be for winning National Championships rather than throwing a chick kicker in a game for a look see !!

When Dan Hawkins gets fired after this season, maybe he will coach Pacific University.
Saturday will be the most epic tailgate ever, especially if my wife gives birth under the Quick-Shade.

Holy Smokes!  Somebody take the Blue Jug away from GHC ASAP!  He's getting really loose and we haven't even made it to the first scrimmage.

So is this kid Aaron Hire, who transferred from Foothill College JC a relative of Coach Doug Hire?
Don't forget your booties cause it's cold out there!

Where is last year's QB, Cole Franklin?

1. Yes. He's his son.
2. Oregon State. I don't think it's a secret anymore since camp has started.

George,

Cole did transfer to Oregon State to work towards a Engineering Degree.  From my understanding it was a a VERY hard decision for Cole but he felt he had to make the choice between football and his education field of choice.  As a 'Cat fan it stinks because he would have been a nice added dimension to the offense but I respect his decision 100%.  Good luck to Cole and he'll always be welcomed back if he misses football!

For Willamette fans out there who want to keep an eye on our season-opening opponent, the Concordia athletics department is running a blog of the Cobbers' training camp.

Bummer---he was fun to watch, a play-maker...I was hoping to see him jump in at WR maybe this year..oh well--best of luck to him.  On a related note, have the Cats lost more players than usual this year?  Or have they just lost more familiar players (the Lemons and Franklin)?  Thoughts?
Go Cats!

B-Press,

Nice find.  I've been enjoying the depth of his blog entries.  I'd love to get that detailed but that is not my calling card.

M-Cat,

Just a couple of familiar players.  You have a ton of faces back and a great bulk of last year's Frosh class is back in camp as Soph.

Just found this in the Statesman Journal today:

QuoteWillamette Football: The annual Cardinal & Gold scrimmage is Friday from 4-5:30 p.m. at McCulloch Stadium.

BearcatFan, FightBearcats, are either of you planning to head out to this?
