That was just Fantastic! I had no idea how the Wildcats would be this year, but what I saw today really enlightened me. I'm just thrilled for the team, Coach Smith and his Assistant Coaches. They were very sharp. I was amazed at the game plan and execution. The team seemed really polished for a first game. And I knew we were going to win when I saw Joe Dominey walking up the steps of the CatDome. I also would like to say that the PeP Band sounded awesome! They have a very cool sound with the drum wall...I love it. And good players top to bottom in the band.

Boehme was fantastic....he really impressed me.
I was also especially impressed with our low turnovers. I think 1 or 2 passes that were intercepted were deflected. I don't thing we had any fumbles?

Both of our lines were dominating. I was especially impressed with how much time Boehme had. And I really like the middle of our D-line. It seemed like they were able to disrupt things and make good tackles. Bassically the whole defense was pretty darn good!

The running game is definately improved. Both the guys that played were really hard runners and good. And the receivers we have this year are total studs! I don't think they ever dropped a ball that was thrown to them!

Overall it was a great experience today at the CatDome!!!!

BIG WIN.

QuoteCant wait for the Catdome to get a rockin tomorrow!!!

Not quite. Very quiet.

I cannot believe neither the team or the fans were racous with 2 minutes left and the game in hand. Maybe just poilite but it was eerie. The heat had to be a factor.

Next week is just as big because it is an away game.

Never like to see a guy like Feater injured. Good guy.

Those of you posters, from HSU I tried to find you but by the 3rd quarter I could sense you were in no mood.
From the hsu webpage:

No time to rest on our laurels......next week will be an equally big challenge as OXY will be pumped.  They will be talking all week about the rough treatment they last received from Elliott and Company (wasn't the score 57-0 or something like that).  You can well bet they will come ready to get some revenge and the Cats will need to bring their 'A Game'.  However, if the Cats play like they did today it will be one great CatFight!!!

I listened to a lot of the game on the Hardin Simmons webcast...Their announcers were definitely impressed with the Cats.  One commented that the Cats offense looked like they were in midseason form....another comment was how well our defensive backs were playing.

Great way to start off the season...dominating the #4 rated team in the nation, who came into the Catdome with a win under their belt.

Excellent job and well done to all the coaches and players.  It sounded like a complete game to me.
Don't forget your booties cause it's cold out there!

Hope Feaster &  Co...will be okay....hate to see guys get injured.

"Which of these upset winners will have the best overall 2009 season?"

I tried the same thing. Linfield's broadcast didn't work.

Well, good to see that Linfield is back. ::)

(You were never gone.)

Initially, I was disappointed with Willamette today, but over the last six hours I've gradually been talking myself around.  Whitcomb suited up but sat out the game, so we rotated two freshman QBs, neither of whom caused any turnovers and one of whom threw a bomb to Scott Schoettgen.  The defensive effort was outstanding - one goal-line stand that turned CLU away from inside the 1 was a game-changer.  I am worried about the penalties.  Two straight games of over 100 yards is not good.

Are we a top 25 team?  Probably not.  Can we beat SOU?  Right now, my answer is a definite maybe.  We still need better production at flanker and more discipline on special teams for that to happen.

In other NWC news, L&C going into the fourth quarter against CMS down 12-7 in front of a crowd of over 1300 is another sign of progress.  Unfortunately, getting outgained 405-55 is not.

Any news from the Whitworth and PLU folks?  Is Anderson really hurt?  And how did PLU end up with -79 rushing yards?

I listened to the entire Linfield audio with the video. Pretty good stuff. Ty Matthews did a great job for his first time. My only complaint would be that Hansen needs to learn the names of the players.

I was impressed the the Cats play. The Linfield Wildcats are back!!

The CATS  webcast worked "all day "  here Cris....
It must have been  the heat in AZ (105) with all the  thunder & lighting strikes from the catdome.. Good first game showing from the cats on a very good cowboy team that we could see later on this year??? Go CATS  Hold that "tiger by the tail "this week ..

Hopefully!  We need to get healthy quick!  Feaster and Robbins on the sidelines would be a huge blow to the offense.  Losing a preaseason all-american corner and our other starting corner week 1 doesn't help matters either.

Even with everyone healthy, I think Saturday would have been Linfield's day.  Coach Keeling described it in the Abilene Reporter News as a "good old fashioned country whoopin'."   It sounds like your offensive and defensive lines were pretty dominant.  You also have to be pleased with the play of your secondary.

One last thanks for the 4 game series.  It was great!  You definitely have the respect of this HSU fan.  Hopefully we can meet for game five later this year to break the tie!

CatDad

If Aaron gets that much time and is untouched like that all season.... big things will happen for the 'cats.... this is the offense that they envisioned before he got hurt last year.... and his mom loved that he slid this year when running the ball rather than taking on safeties  :-)

GO CATS!!

D O.C.

Let's forget any national rankings and just win the conference.

I stood there and stared when Feaster did the "quick kick."  I bet Ad  Rutchman was laughing.

The stripes did a make-up call for LINFIELD IMHO after the Ref did not call a short plunge 6 points. He just kept walking toward the pile looking at the other stripes. The next play LINFIELD scored and it seemed AB knew the play would work because his chin was about 3 feet out over his cleats toward the goal line before the snap. Just saying I wouldn't have complained if motion would have been called.

BTW, whoever had to have the AD and police come over to them at the south end zone: Wise Up.
