QuoteAny video of this game?

We'll have some afterwards if WC11 ever gets there.

See you all on the NWC-SCIAC in game updates board @ 11:45AM.

Some of you geniuses can explain to the rest of us hunt-and-peckers (Watch it! I should not have to explain that ) how to listen to the LINFIELD game while watching the Mount Union game and keeping up with the UMKHB - HSU live stats.

Las Vegas Wildcards

Regarding last weeks game, I think Linfield's performance was outstanding, that was not a bad SOU team. Although the Raiders entered the game 1-2, their one win was at the expense of Eastern Oregon, which is ranked in the top 20 in NAIA.

THanks for the follow up BCP.  If the Lemons are in both WIllamette and L&C then I wish both teams all the luck this season... except of course for when they face their demise against the Cats.  Coach Lemon was a class act, and I imagine his kids are as well.

....Any video of this game? Does Linfield radio stream their broadcast online?...

CatDad,
Go to the Linfield Sports home page (http://www.linfield.edu/sports/index.php) and in the top right corner there is a box that says Linfield Football Cats Eye View.  That link should take you to the online radio coverage.

Good luck Cats!

And the "Game Day" preview for Whitworth.

GAME DAY #5
#18 BEARCATS VS. PIRATES

WHEN: 2:00 p.m. Saturday

WHERE: McCulloch Stadium

RECORDS: Willamette 3-1, Whitworth 2-2

ON THE AIR: Webcast at www.willamette.edu/athletics

BRIEFLY: The Bearcats open Northwest Conference play this weekend by playing host to the Whitworth Pirates, winners of the 2006 and 2007 NWC titles. In their season opener, the Pirates led then-#4 Hardin-Simmons 24-13 at halftime before falling 48-31. Despite losing tailback Adam Anderson to injury  in game two, the Pirates managed wins over La Verne and Chapman sandwiched around a five- point loss to #21 Redlands. Speckman, who last year compared Anderson to a "refrigerator," expects the All-American to play this week. "We're preparing for the Adam Anderson show," Speckman said.

Last season's matchup between the teams saw Willamette snap Whitworth's 12-game NWC winning streak with a come-from-behind 32-23 win in Spokane. This time around, Speckman hopes his team can get off to a faster start against Whitworth's aggressive, physical defense and punishing power-rush offense. "We've got to execute and get some early defensive stops," Speckman said. "They pose some problems for us. ... They're a legitimate contender."

Around the NWC, #8 Linfield demolished Southern Oregon 37-21 last weekend, while Menlo snuck by Whittier 28-24. Those two schools will meet this Saturday in Atherton, Calif., while Lewis & Clark visits Pacific Lutheran.

From the Whitworth website:

"After letting three good scoring opportunities slip away in the first half, Whitworth essentially decided the game by scoring on its first three possessions of the second half to open up a 23-0 lead over Chapman. It was a total team effort as the offense posted a season-high 410 yards, while the defense held the Panthers to 148 yards.

Andrew Durant (So., QB, Spokane, Wash.) completed 17 of 26 passes for 221 yards with two touchdowns and no interceptions. He has thrown six touchdowns this season, and only one interception. Eric Entel (Sr., WR, Clarkston, Wash.) caught six passes for 74 yards and one touchdown - a diving catch from 12 yards out in the third quarter. Andy Largent (Sr., WR, Spokane, Wash.) added five catches for a career-high 101 yards, with one touchdown - a 54 yard effort in the fourth quarter in which he broke several tackles on the way to the endzone.

Sean Scott (So., RB, Milwaukie, Ore.) and Milton Nelson (Sr., RB, Spokane, Wash.) shared ball-carrying responsibility. Scott ran for a career-high 97 yards on 19 carries and scored the Bucs' first touchdown in the third quarter. Nelson picked up 83 yards on 22 attempts.

Whitworth's defense was stout, giving up a season-low in points and yardage. Brandon Martin (Sr., DT, Sweet Home, Ore.) had six tackles, and was in on two tackles for loss. Nate Hadley (Sr., LB, Mukilteo, Wash.), Nick Ashley (Jr., DE, Lind, Wash) and Paul Werhane (Jr., LB, Beaverton, Ore.) all played a part in the second-quarter sack and fumble that led to a safety - Whitworth's first points of the game. Cailen Thomason (So., DB, Vancouver, Wash.) intercepted his second pass of the season. Scott Carr (Fr., DB, Rathdrum, Idaho) and Kyle Duncan (Sr., DB, Kennewick, Wash.) each picked off a pass.
Josh Kay (Fr., PK, Salem, Ore.) took over the kickoff duties on Saturday and averaged 64.2 yards per kick."

"Wait and See: Adam Anderson's status for this Saturday, and the rest of the season, will be on a week to week basis as he recovers from a sprained ankle suffered on the opening kickoff of Whitworth's game at La Verne. The two-time NWC Offensive Player of the Year and D3football.com All-American has missed the last three games for the Pirates."

"Anderson = All-American: Adam Anderson, the 2007 and 2008 NWC Offensive Player of the Year, simply had one of the greatest seasons in Whitworth history in 2008. . . .  Anderson led all of NCAA Division III in all-purpose yards (243.8) per game and was second in the nation in scoring average (16.89 points per game). He led the NWC in rushing yards (139.9 yards per game), touchdowns (25), total points (152) and all-purpose yards. He was named NWC Offensive Student-Athlete of the Week three times, including when he posted a school record 324 all-purpose yards in a 41-35 win at Chapman and when he scored a school-record six touchdowns and ran for 217 yards in a 40-29 win at PLU."

Depending on whether Anderson is 100%, I look for a defensive battle.
Go Bearcats!

A reminder if you haven't made your pick in the pick 'ems for the week to get over and do so. Late comers are welcome.

See some of you Cats tomorrow. Some high school ball tonight!!

FightBearcats

Great articles, Bearcat Press.  And River, thanks for the Whitworth information.  Looks like it could be cool and rainy in Salem tomorrow so that might limit the passing games for both teams.  If so, we could see a classic of two good teams slugging it out - especially if Adam Anderson plays.  Willamette's D is going to have to step up.

Both Bubba and Mikey Lemon transferred to Willamette.  George and Chase Lemon are now assistant coaches at Lewis & Clark.

Will Bubba and Mikey be going to Lewis and Clark next year too?
