The ADvantage has a special treat for you all...we were able to capture the streaker during the streak extension clinching game.  WC11 added a little family safe editing to the clip.

ADvantage Catdome Linfield extends the streak and the crowd was streaked at Whitworth

Yeah, but did they call the illegal motion of the TE?

You couldn't even see his TE! Wildcat 11 covered it up with that Pirate logo.

On a side note, I thought that Menlo QB Angel Molina's play last year against Oxy was outstanding.  Wonder why he was only in for the last series . . . [Just checked the box score and it was Castillo, not Molina, in during the last series]

WC11, did you make a copy of the unaltered video for Whitworth to use for their highlight dvd?

Hey 11 and GHC and the rest of you 'Cat fanatics...

Just thought you might get a kick out of my column this week for JohnnieFootball.com this week.  It is a small world when you keep the company of OneArmedScot...

TDT's Column with some of Linfield's favorite officials!!!

Call it Six Degrees of Linfield College! :D

GO CATS!
55 IN '10!

Just got stopped in the parking lot of my local grocery store (in Peoria, Arizona), I was wearing my Linfield football camp t-shirt, and the driver of the truck said he played football at Linfield. Didn't have time to talk details , but he said he played on the team with Larry Doty. Small world indeed.  :)
Go Cats! Make it 62 in '17!

In today's Oregonian there was an article by Norm Maves Jr. He writes a column called Small College Notebook. The article was about how Lewis and Clark was building up their program. It talked about last weeks game with Willamette.....But the paragraph that stood out to me was this:

QuoteWillamette ran up 518 yards of offense and punted only once. The Bearcats could have punted three other times in the second half, but felt compelled to go for first downs on fourth and one with leads of 32, 39 and 46 points.

Maybe BearCatPress can interview Speckman and find out what was the logic of that was. I'd be interested to know...... because at face value it looks a little childish.

I think Maves was right to call them out on it.

D O.C.

I was surprised they'd run up points in the 60's.
Let's see...101 guys played? Can't expect all young men not to give their best?
I'd be interested too.

Pretty rich that a Whitewater backer would take that jab considering that all you have to do is fog a mirror in order to be a Warhawk.

I think Maves was right to call them out on it.

By my unofficial count, we had 90 guys play, 16 guys rush the ball, 7 guys catch passes, and 4 guys play quarterback.

The first time we went for it was at midfield directly after L&C had kicked a field goal.  We had all of our backups in, the Pios had outscored us 17-7 in the previous 10 minutes, and I think Speckman wanted our young guys to send a message.  We ran a sweep.

The second time was at the L&C 33.  That's out of our kicker's range, and the Pios already had one return for a touchdown.  We ran a sweep.

The third time was at midfield with our scout team offense in the game.  We ran a sweep.

The idea that we were trying to run up the score is pretty far fetched.  Speckman wanted to keep the clock running and end the game.  We did that by running the same sequence - sweep right, sweep left, off tackle - about a bazillion plays in a row.  L&C couldn't stop us, so we scored.  Heck, we even scored on a busted field goal in the first half!  You can't expect players who might only have one or two chances to get on film for the coaches not to play their hardest or not to try and score on every play.  All you can do is try and get the game over with.  That's what Willamette did.

I think Maves made a poor choice of words.

I'm not talking about running up the score or letting the young guys play. I have no problem with either of those things when you are playing everybody. They aren't going to give up just because they are the 3rd and 4th string guys...I wasn't talking about that. I was talking about the how the coaches decided not to punt on 4th down
Quotewith leads of 32, 39 and 46 points
in the second half of the game.

I guess it's just a matter of discretion.

I thought the Whitewater coach showed good sense last year when he had the team take a knee against Willamette at the end of the game last year..... when they were on the 3 yard line and ready to score. I guess they could have...or kicked a field goal if they wanted. Good on him.

Bearcat Press

I do see your point, Blue.  But I think the Whitewater scenario was completely different.  We had no way to stop the clock, and Whitewater had no reason to score - if they just take a knee, the game's over.  If they score, we get the ball back.  I would say a better analogy would be the Oxy game - where the game's last 1:34 ended up taking about 1 hour and 34 minutes because of Oxy's passing game and onside kicks.  I tried to expalin the rationale behind each decision to go for it - as I saw it - in my last post.

Onto something else, the Pios are really giving it a go with their game day atmosphere.  Band, dance team, crowd of over 1000, big L&C flag that the team runs out onto the field.  Aside from the fact that they ran out of hot dogs, I was really impressed.  The new black helmets look significantly better than their old orange ones.

Seriously though - how many schools out there have "On Wisconsin" as their fight song?!  Sheesh . . . ;)

Not your fault. Speckman would have scored 69 on us last year if you could have.
