Now I realize why MonroviaCat and I were following that PLU - Gustav game last week so closely. A PLU win would have helped the LINFIELD Strength of Schedule enough decimal points to maybe be a factor in region field advantage. (Of course I know the LINFIELD - PLU game has to be played yet)
johns have moved ahead in the SOS. Do not know how much those close wins will be a negative factor for them. It will be interesting to see if they start hitting on all cylinders the next three games.

OK,this week.....isn't it fun how the season keeps starting over? Now this game is as big as Hardin-Simmons (RIP) was in making a statement.

Like DOC says.....playoffs begin this weekend 8)

"Pacific University Boxers  Keith Buckley promotes Pacific football on tonight's KGW's Sports Sunday. "We want to get kids out of the mindset of going to Linfield or Willamette."

Good luck with that coach.

I watched Buckley on Sports Sunday, and that quote seems a little off (or at least out of context).  He was tipping his hat to both programs as obvious choices for solid small-college recruits from the West Coast/PNW.  He was saying that he faces quite a challenge to present Pacific as an alternative choice.  (Much like L&C) He'll rely on the sales pitch of 'immediate playing time likely'.

A few other interesting things from the interview:

1) Buckley has hired one assistant so far: Pacific alum and long-time Oregon high school head coach, Mike McCabe.

2) As much as Buckley would like to check out a few NWC games in person, he hasn't because it might actually violate a conference rule prohibiting 'in-person scouting'.

3) 25% of Pacific's student body (according to Buckley) comes from the 50th state.  He has already made one trip there and claims that he (and news about the restarted football program) was very well received.

Thanks D-Train....then that's on whoever wrote the release on Pacific's facebook page.  For a moment there I thought we might have another Willenbrock in the conference.  Appreciate you clearing that up.

Speaking of Pacific, here is a "This Week In Linfield Football History" flashback that any longtime Linfield fan will remember:  http://podcasts3.stretchinternet.com/linvideo/fb/thisweekinhistory.101709.mov

Yeah, whoever posted that quote isn't doing Coach Buckley any favors (despite their intent).  It sounds close to something he said during the interview...but the context was important.  It was more like 'our challenge is to change the mindset that the only choice for D3 recruits is between Linfield and Willamette'.  I still thought it was a little too focused on the competition rather than what Pacific has to offer (not to mention the rest of the NWC and the SCIAC) - but not in the way the facebook post made it sound.

Thanks for the video wildcat11.
Acting on instinct? it was an outright cheap shot. Looked like he clothes lined the cornerback. I hope the player was tossed from the game.

Naw, we just kicked their program out of the conference.   joke

I'd say this is about right, 32-12:

Thanks to  Tim Marsh, LINFIELD SID 1969-70

Quote--The last TD in Odis Avritt's Linfield football career was a 1-yard run
in Salem on Nov. 5, 1966, in the Wildcats' 33-12 win over Willamette.

Taylor Avritt and his father, Odis Avritt, have both scored touchdowns
for Linfield's varsity football team

--A 12-yard touchdown run by Taylor came in the Wildcats' 31-7
football win at Menlo on Oct. 3, 2009. It was the first TD in his
Linfield varsity football career.
