There's a brewing contest to caption the photo, over on the MIAC page.

I want to wish WU good health the rest of the season.
You really deserved to win that game today.
The refs took it away from you.
The clock was not kept correctly.
That ball really wasn't out of bounds.
The hot dogs were not really cooked.

You've been reading the MIAC board too much, DenS.

Congrats to our boys today. They got the job done, and it wasn't easy. That was a heck of a game! Willamette played tough.

BearcatPress, you were right about the announcer. He was bad, and seemed like a smartass. But regarding the seating, there were Willamette fans sitting in the Linfield reserved seats, and some of the Linfield fans who had reserved tickets couldn't find seats in that section, so it probably went both ways.

Two words:  THE STREAK

Thanks for the "+K" CamCat, but I was quoting James Day from StatesmanJournal.com.

I would however like to split that K between the "purple people eaters" on both sides of the line—though they deserve a whole one, what a battle!—and the other half to...dare I say...going for it on 4th and 17! You gotta admit, that was a gutsy call.

But, "...looks like the year of Wildcats"

What a game!   As expected, it was very close.    WU was tough and never gave up.    And they have lots of skill players coming back next year.    So, WU and LC will be tough in the future.

Linfield's passing was a little off.    But, that O-line is SUPERB!    Boehme had all day to throw.  And what a runner he is!

Williams (aka Rogers) is one powerful rusher; reminds me of a young David Russell.    It takes at least 2-3 opponents to bring him down.   And, he can catch a pass;  he was open many times as an outlet, but was not thrown the ball.

Despite the Wildcats' brutal schedule, WU is to be congratulated for being LC's toughest opponent.

Great game, all in all.

GO WILDCATS!  GO!

GO CATS! GO!

Great game by the 'Cats!!

Great D in the first half holding them to the two field goals. That was key in the outcome of the game.

Great job by the O-Line. Willamette dropped 8 in coverage all game long. It was obvious that they thought that taking away the throw would be the key. But the 'Cats are much more than just throw and catch. They threw over the middle because that's what they gave em and when you line up with 5 in the box we will smash your mouth with Aaron Williams (Rogers). Another great growth game for the O. 30 points against the #1 ranked scoring defense in the NWC.

Road Warriors once again and that will pay off with home playoff games.

Again I'll say this team if focused. You don't hear a lot of "I" on this team. It's all about "We".

GO 'CATS!!!

coco...Here's an idea I got from over on the MIAC board: a sensible person in Salem could talk to the WU fans who were obnoxious to a cross spectrum of those sporting purple and have them come on this board to ply their trades.PC won't allow yelling in someone's ear but insults, boorishness, and clever degrading chants are. Any nominations BearcatPress?Your hands are full.

WU was prepared for that game. No doubt. Their training came from far and wide

Bakersfield College
San Diego Christian College
Boise State University
Western New Mexico University
Santa Barbara City College
San Jose State University
Los Angeles Harbor College

Just no telling how many moms are attending Mr. Speckman's  Fly Camps now is there?

Gig Harbor Cat

BC Press,
About your #1 running back being out,  Thats pretty lame  Cmon now !!!  Our #1 running back went down at Oxy, heck our #1 QB was out almost all of last year.
And I do have one comment about your student fans.  We were walking into the game and a huge tailgate group in their piss yellow shirts started railing on us yelling YOU SUCK  LINFIELD SUCKS !!!  Of course they waited until we had just passed !!  What a class group, considering there were families with young kids with us.  We just rolled in and enjoyed the game.
Someday 11 will have to post  what happened 2 years ago after the WU Linfield game.

Consistant behavior then too that came close to a WU student getting the beatdown of his life !!

Thats all I got

Peace Out

From the Willamette Box Score - "Attendance: 3178"

Hmmmm.... it didn't look to me like there were 322 empty seats in the 3500 seat stadium! And what about the Linfield fans behind the North end-zone? They don't count?

BearcatFan,

The place was packed...it looked like 50/50 in the grandstand and then a gaggle of Linfield folks in the North End Zone.  Could have been 3,500 but it looks like they keep a pretty good count at the gate.

Speck said before the game that there were about 70 recruits there yesterday. To the best of my knowledge, Coach doesn't offer Fly Camps to moms, but WU does have a couple football camps during the summer that are always sold out.

First, all that needs to be said is Scoreboard. That's why we play the game to see who WINS. The better team won. WU is not as complete a team as Linfield and the scoreboard told the story.

Some further objective comments:
>Willamette is a quality program. Too bad they don't act like it.
>The fans may be overall OK, but there were enough instances of rude and obnoxious conduct to spoil it for the rest. Mostly adult immaturity. Grow up. It's football.
>The PA guy is strictly amateur hour. Buy him a ticket to a real football game and let him see how the big boys do it. Better yet, send him over to Linfield to observe a class act at the Catdome.
>All of this is the sign of a mostly "have not" program that's struggling to get its ego on. Wrong approach, guys. Get your act together. Show some class.

To the "see ya soon" comment: That'll probably be next October in the Catdome. The odds are against it even if WU got into the playoffs. Most experts think your chances are slim with 2 losses. And, even if you get in, you'll be sent on the road for your first game and that's tough for anyone.

Good luck working on getting better off the fiend and on the field.
