Discovered by the Germans in 1904, they named it San Diego, which of course in German means a whale's vagina.

Let's get thing going. Here are the Northwest Conference statistical match - ups between The Wildcats and the other cats.

Passing:
Linfield Offense #1 347.7 ypg  Willamette Defense #2 181 ypg
Willamette Offense #4 117.4 ypg   Linfield Defense #4 236.1 ypg
Linfield is #1 in sacks, Willamette is #5
Linfield has only given up 3 sacks on the season, Willamette 14.

Passing Efficiency:
Linfield Offense: #1 Willamette Defense #2
Willamette Offense #4  Linfield Defense #1

Running:
Linfield Offense  #5 121.6 ypg  Willamette Defense #4 188 ypg
Willamette Offense #2 249 ypg   Linfield Defense #1 62.7 ypg

Scoring:
Linfield Offense #1 47.4 ppg   Willamette Defense #4 29.6 ppg

Linfield Offense #1 469.3 ypg  Willamette #3 384.8 ypg
Willamette Offense #4 367.2 ypg  Linfield Defense #1 298.9 ypg

Emotion and a sense of urgency on Willamette's part will keep the game close for a quarter and a half and then the Wildcats will start to pull away. Linfield's salty D and lack of effective passing by the Bearcats will be the difference in the game.

QuoteWC11,

I think Kelly Bird has to be one of the best SID's in the country.  He is always timely and the website is as good as you will find anywhere at any college level.

Have you guys also noticed from a journalistic point how smooth his stories read? Tell him so if you have. I did.
Read other school releases. His you really do not have to reread.

The season begins Saturday. LEAVE NO DOUBT!

DenS,

Spot on.  I have always agreed with that point that Kelly Bird is one of the best small college SID's in the country.  Great publications, media guides, game recaps are out quickly with excellent stories, photos (which he takes), and detailed stats.

The guy does a phenomenal job and if you bump into him make sure you let him know it.

Whitworth....I'm still very surprised that they didn't get the job done.  How can you be so close to the playoffs again and let it get away for the second year in a row?  Pi-Rat, what happened?  It pretty obvious that the Bearcats have improved greatly from the beginning of the year.

I'm actually excited that the last game of the year is for the NWC crown.  It just gives both teams that much more to get excited about.

What DenSLA and WC11 said about Kelly Bird are right on. He is very helpful and also a genuinely nice guy.

Sunday Trivia:  An interesting look at D3 polls from PreSeason  to Week 10-----
1)  One Team Has Been Ranked #1 in every poll since the preseason -- Linfield --
2)  Most Improved Has to Go to UWWhitewater --- Preseason rank (21) -- Week 10 Rank (2)
3)  Seventeen colleges that started the season in the Top 25 are still in the Top 25 --- albeit they have moved around in the rankings for the most part.

choke artists...they've never been able to get it done, everybody loves to pump them up but they need to just stay up on the porch...

They should set up a bowl game every year for the first week of the playoffs and play UPS every season and call it the "Not Quite Ready for Prime Time" Bowl.

Eagle Rock Kid over on the SCIAC board has some interesting observations about the OXY defense.  If true, that could prove real interesting as playoff teams begin taking on OXY versus SCIAC teams.
