Great! Your job is to lobby for Albertson's to restart their football program and come home to the NWC. You may start by putting in a call to R.C. Owens and Elgin Baylor.

Are you going to LINFIELD for the game?

Again, thanks for the welcome. Go Loggers!

idalog....are you coming to the game at the CatDome......if so I will buy you a hot dog.

I hope there's the will at CI to restart football. Ther's really no local option for Treasure Valley kids other than D1, but I don't think they can get the mo. I have a couple buddies who played there and are part of the effort. I will help any way I can - they should still be in the NWC.

Can't make the Lnfield game this weekend but will be there the next 2 years. Thanks for offer - Mcminnville is a great town.

Disgruntled and Disappointed Bearcat Fan:

Never in the history of THE STREAK has Linfield and mediocre team been used in the same sentence!

Hmm, only if you're talking about Football.  Besides, you missed the point of my argument completely.

+K to GHC for his comments to Bearcat Press and also to George for getting the point!

Hey idalogger,

Well said about the benefits of northwest small college athletics. Idaho is a mecca for quality D3 footballers and it's my belief NWC schools should "recruit" the Gem State harder and more often.

It would be awesome to have "College of Idaho" back in the football fold. Of course that's a likely as seeing Whitman traveling to Mac for another Homecoming trouncing. While we're at it, let's promote the return of football at OTI!

For all of you Linfield posters who are smacking your lips for playoff action, we must remember the early 70s. The CATS were rolling along towards an another undefeated season and had only lowly Whitman to play before the playoffs. No playoffs.

We lost to Whitman? Thought they were a tennis school    ???

Whitman defeating Linfield in football. Unbelievable as it may seem, I believe it was 1974. My bout with alcoholism started at the conclusion of that game!   :)

I choose not to make fun of Whitman for the sole fact they could buy all of the NWC schools 3x over.  They may suck at sports for the most part but they have a fat wallet.

Thanks for the welcome, d-train, coco, monroviacat.

I am an Idaho grad (go vandals), from Boise. I'll be around for a couple of years, as my boy is a soph at UPS. D3 was, frankly, a revelation for us, as he was a good high school player, but not a D1 prospect. The Boise Valley has some good players, notably seven on BSU's roster this year, and several at Idaho. However, when he was recruited by several D3 schools, we came to visit every NWC school, and a few others. He chose UPS for the campus and because he knew several kids. As far as I know, there are only a few kids from the area playing in the conference, one at Linfield, another at Willamette, two at UPS , and one or two at Whitworth. But several coaches and administrators from Boise played in the NWC (Simis at Willamette, Walker, Pierce, and others at PLU) and they spoke highly of the quality of sports in the conference.

I had no idea of the passion for sports in the area, or of the dimensions of D3 across the country. Since he plays baseball, too, I have had a chance to see the high level of play in both sports, and have become an advocate for the NWC in the Boise area. I can't make it over for the Linfield game, but I hope the Loggers play hard and make it a game. I'll be up for Willamette and LC.

Again, thanks for the welcome. Go Loggers!

I know the Pierce family very well.  PLU's roster had about a half dozen guys from Idaho each year during the 1990's, including a string of captains (Frisch, Benedict, Walker, Gearhard).  For some reason, that's dried up.  I don't see a single Idaho guy on this year's Lute roster.  I've noticed a number of Boise-area guys end up at Eastern Oregon.  But I think you are right that there are many potentially very good small-college football players in that area who hang up their cleats after high school.

Oh...and those Vandals look a little better this year, eh?

If Southern Oregon is successful in moving to D2, Would Linfield consider replacing the Raiders on future schedules with NAIA Eastern Oregon? Do schools like Mount Union, Wisconsin Whitewater, and St. Johns ever play D2 teams?

EOU plays 10 conference games, leaving only one extra game to schedule each year.

And for that, they typically schedule SOU.

Gig Harbor Cat--

QuoteThe Federal Aviation Administration on Tuesday revoked the licenses of the two Northwest Airlines pilots who overflew the Twin Cities by 150 miles while working on their laptops last week.

The FAA cited violations of a number of regulations in its decision against Capt. Timothy Cheney, 53, Gig Harbor, Wash., and First Officer Richard Cole, 54, of Salem, Ore.

Do you know this Cheney guy?  I hope these guys aren't the guys who were planning to fly Linfield out for the matchup with the Johnnies!

Cheney has employment. That's the guy who's been piloting GHC's G4 around.

Trying to get a scoop on regional rankings I went here

http://www.ncaa.com/rankings/master_rankings.html

and it looks like kudos to PC and Co. because the NCAA refers to them for Division III rankings.

Get out your Willie Nelson folks. We'll probably be On the Road Again.

OAS,
I think I do, I play hold em with a group of pilots I really dont know them that well, but I will verify and let you know.  all I know is that the pilots are not good card players,  which is a good thing for GHC
