If Southern Oregon is successful in moving to D2, Would Linfield consider replacing the Raiders on future schedules with NAIA Eastern Oregon? Do schools like Mount Union, Wisconsin Whitewater, and St. Johns ever play D2 teams?

EOU plays 10 conference games, leaving only one extra game to schedule each year.

And for that, they typically schedule SOU.

And even if SOU and Azusa Pacific move to D2 - EOU would have lots of other options (besides Linfield) for that one game.

How does anyone out of the NW get to La Grande. APU, for instance. AND don't tell me F L Y.

APU and Eastern used to match-up quite often.  I'm not a travel agent, but I'd guess they'd fly to Boise and bus (about three hours) from there?

Ground travel to LaGrande has been quite popular since the 1840s - it's called the Oregon Trail.  :) It's probable out-of-area teams fly into the Tri-Cities (Pasco, WA) and then bus to LaGrande; much shorter and less time consuming than coming from Boise (also, there's no time zone difference if that means anything).

Thank-you guys.  I figured South West to Boise and bus.  I never contemplated a puddle jumper to Pasco.
If Eastern Oregon had the #1 team in the nation I cannot see them getting a bid for the championship game because of that Conestoga Wagon factor.

Anyway...GO 'CATS !

Disgruntled and Disappointed Bearcat Fan:

Never in the history of THE STREAK has Linfield and mediocre team been used in the same sentence!

So I guess you just made history by using the terms in the same sentence!  :P

The margin of victory is frivolous unless one is playing with hand grenades. A win is a win. You concentrate on preparing for a bye, we'll concentrate on UPS. Good luck!

I don't think Margin of Victory is "frivolous" to the guys playing the game. Players will gain more confidence with a 24 point win against a good team than they will with a 3 point win.

Not necessarily if they were unranked even in the also-rans at the beginning of the season and it's their 7th win in a row, 5th in a hostile stadium.

Agreed...Willamette wasn't the first good team Linfield had played this season.  This Wildcat team was confident before the season and beating Willamette was just a step towards a greater opportunity.

There's always the "Whitman" factor.   Loved that story!

Thanks for the catch, BearcatFan.  I noticed that after I replied.  +K for  you.

Yeah, I was more impressed with Linfield's win over Oxy until Oxy only beat LaVerne by 1 point.  What's with that?  Did LaVerne buy a new team since they played the NWC teams or what?  (Or is Oxy a top team in a bad conference this year?)

There's no doubt that Linfield FB is the "real deal" and I've never said otherwise.   WU is not "washed up" just because they lost by 3 points to Linfield, that's all.

UWW played St. Cloud State (a DII team) in 2007. we lost that game, but went on the win the Stagg Bowl that year. that's the only DII team we played that I could recall. UWW plays one or two NAIA teams a year as well.
