You really have a good memory....I was at the 1974 Whitman game....I certainly remember Jay Buse, but not that play.  I do however, remember one frustration after another as we were running all over Whitman but couldn't score.
Don't forget your booties cause it's cold out there!

Do you guys mean the 1973 home loss, 18-9? Was this two weeks after Linfield beat PLU, 33-22? If 1973 is the correct year, the 9 points scored that day was the second fewest all season. In week five the Cats scored 4 in a loss at Lewis & Clark. Linfield opened that 1973 season with a 19-3 triumph over Portland State, in the last meeting between the two schools.

I clearly didn't excel in Doc Frick's math class so trying to figure out this SOS  formula three weeks from now is above my pay grade.  The only thing that I know for certain is that if the Cats 'take care of business' for the next two Saturday's we get to play one more game and it'll be at the Catdome.  Other than that, I'm still burning from losing to Whitman because we thought we could win and took our eye off the ball.  Go Cats....One Game At A time!

Yes, you're right, it was 1973. (I warned you that not all the brain cells fire at the same time.) In 1974, we played Whitman in the middle of the season and whomped 'em pretty good. It was in 1973, in the last regular season game, that had an invite to the NAIA playoffs riding on it. NOBODY thought we'd lose to Whitman.

Ever since, I've been gun-shy about assuming automatic WILDCAT wins. Go Cats!!

...and did not return for his senior season after being All-Conference three years and All Little West Coast for two.
I was so glad to see him inducted into the Hall of Fame - even though he had to be talked into it. A prototype defensive end. NOTHIN' went that way.

There are 3 possibilities to explain why UWW is ranked 4th in the West:

1. It's early and the committee knows things will change so they ranked them based on straight OWP.
2. The West Regional were all travelling together and were in a car accident, suffered concussions, and they actually think there are 3 teams in the west better than UWW.
3.  Wildcat11 is West region Chair

Don't we wish! But he'd have put UWW at #1.

Gig Harbor Cat

Bobo,
Did Beaver play after he left WW ?  He was a stud, behind a stud O-line--

He was recently released off the Saskatchewan Rough Riders practice squad.

He had a great career to carry forward.

I also remember that L&C win in the rain on Palentine hill....and then there was the loss to Pacific on the field goal that the refs suffered an optical illusion.

Lever Street

I agree with GHC, the rankings mean nothing.  The only thing that matters is this Saturday at CATDOME against UPS.  CATS need to remain focussed and deliver another great permformance.

Anyway, we all know the first round matchup will be the SCIAC Chump Champ at Linfield.

GO CATS GO!
You can't get to CatDome without seeing Lever Street.   Go Linfield!

If Linfield does win out then the 'Cats are going to get a very good Oxy or Cal Lutheran team.  I'm not going to lable them chumps because I saw just solid Oxy was first hand.  Also, Cal Lutheran has improved greatly over the year and if they come up to the NW it will be on a plane and not a bus like they had to do for the Willamette game.

However, everyone is right...Linfield HAS to remain focus on who's in front of them.
