I thought UPS looked pretty good myself. By watching them play, I wouldn't have thought that they hadn't won a game yet. What that means...I have no idea. I couldn't really tell if they were just having a spectacular game or if we were off. I guess only time will tell. But my goodness....Boehme had over 400 yards passing..... 4 passing TD's and ran for 3 more....that's pretty darn good.

I'm not a football expert but from what people are saying about how UPS changed up their offense....why wouldn't you do that more often if it throws the other team off so much?

Execution is the key to winning games, and its hard to execute an offense perfectly when you change it every week.

However, the offense that UPS employed yesterday was much different than what they've shown in the rest of the games because their starting QB (K. Williams) did not play.

I hear that UPS came out in warm ups, Williams was out there running their traditional offense.   Teams went into the locker room and when they came out Williams was in street clothes and UPS brought out the spread.

Well played UPS....

PC and CalCat will tell you September against Claremont UPS offense was shotgun hike to Kevin, Kevin run or ineffective pass.

Wasn't this what happened in Collegeville in 2003 when Grand Old Man put the MVP at tailback and LINFIELD played surprised instead of following the Boy Scout Credo of being prepared?

Always interesting to read the posts about Football, scores, And how someone played in the NW from those outside the NWC that have no Idea where the NW even is!!  ;D

What I saw on Saturday was a real good team, adjusting to something they had not seen on any films. S**t, what did UPS have to lose, lets try this and that and if it doesn't work who cares. In the end.....SCOREBOARD! Like I said in my last post, I think the Qb went down in the 3rd Q. because his arm was wore out!!  After Beating the "othercats" I mean the Bearcats last week I'm sure there was some let down. But no more!!

Did anyone else see the "D" after every series on the sidelines? Everyone, all the players on Defense were listening to the Coach's. Looked like a class monday morning. That's what DIII football is all about. Getting an Education and playing the game you Love!!!
Someone  brought up the Kid from S. Salem Sequeira, Listed at 5'4" I think with shoes. He is a studd, where else could a kid like that have the time of his life playing College Football.

Thanks WC11,
Thats classic, the Qb warms up, but shows up in street clothes at game time!

GO WILDCATS!
ONE GAME AT A TIME!

Only at a D3 football game could you have 2 seats on the 50 yard line (2 rows behind bluenote) and have an obstructed view!
I love D3 Football!!!

I give props to UPS, they pulled the best Trick or Treat gameplan ever.  Looks like one thing but is another.
Bottom line our Cats got it done.  8-0.  FTL (2) weeks is here.  See you all down at the corner for some super special pre game stuff !!

Tuxguy,

Just to keep things "interesting", I'll do it again.  However it's rationalized, however great UPS played employing an offense they've never even used in a game before, the facts are still the facts.

Whether I am from Oregon or Maine or somewhere in between, Linfield still gave up 36 points to a team that has not won or scored more than 14 points in a game.

My guess (educated or uneducated), is that Linfield did not play very good defense and has work to do (more than tweaking) to have a realistic chance at going to the Stagg Bowl.

I never labeled the problem "unfixable". I never even said it was a big problem! I simply said more than tweaking was probably necessary!

Another observation from outside the Great Northwest: It seems like there's a current that runs through the NWC threads that is overly protective of the "boys on the team".  Statements like: "These are just college kids." I don't think the "kids" are given enough credit. When Timmy the Cat plays bad, he plays bad. There's nothing wrong with saying it.  He can handle it. We aren't saying Timmy is a bad person.

If you are a Linfield defensive player reading this, I'm pretty sure I didn't hurt your feelings. Your unit didn't play well Saturday. My guess is one of your coaches may have alluded to this fact already. Work hard, get better, chase your dreams. Most of us on the board would do anything to have those days back, so enjoy the chase!

Not overly protective but I'm not going to freak out over a single bad performance.  The defense has been damn good all year long and for whatever reason they had a really bad day this past Saturday.  But I refuse to buy into or perpetuate a "sky is falling" mindset.

All that matters is that our bad was better than their bad

I know how hyper the LINFIELD posters are during a bye week so I'm wondering what activities you have planned.
Besides surfing, of course.

Where do huntin' and fishin' seasons stand?

Family and home activities would probably have to go first. I imagine.
