It was a good day to be in front of the TV watching the Ducks and the Beavers.

We had to break down and shut the windows, DenS. There was a drop or two of rain.

Anybody know if the D3 tournament selections will be made on TV as in the past next Sunday?

Pat Coleman

Idalogger,

I think Oxy and UPS begin a two year home/away agreement next year.  Welcome to D3, left coast style.

Right after UPS gets a star QB.  It should be competitive.

Which we clearly did not have yesterday. That was a thorough butt-whipping. UPS' offense was completely baffled, and the passing game was shut down by the sloppy field and receivers who could not catch a cold. I did, however. But it did not seem to affect the Willamette receivers, who ran past Logger defenders at will.

Good kick-returning by the Loggers, and some tough hitting by the backers (2 sacks and numerous hurries). But every time they got the Bearcats into a 3rd and long, one of the two solid Willamette qb's threw over the UPS corners' heads for a big gain.

And then the thunder and lightning same, and the temp dropped 10 degrees. I actually thought the refs did the right thing postponing the game, though starting it up again was probably not a good thing for the Loggers. I assume that there are NCAA rules about official games, but it was freezing cold and pouring rain for the last half hour of the game.

Well, we finish it out next week at LC, a team that is much improved and motivated. I hope UPS comes to play.

Oxy for the next two years. We'll have to get s lot better to be competitive in that series.

And it was a pleasure meeting you, Bearcatpress. About half of the crowd was from Willamette. It's tough to draw more than the diehards when you're 0-8.

Bearcatpress or any of the other Willamette backers headed to the bay area for the last game of the season?

I hear ya---I was thrilled when the Lutes had the Bearcats in hand but then they gave it away in the 2nd half :)
....but in all honesty I think the Lutes will probably be a big challenge offensively--could be a shootout this weekend.  Go CATS!

The Plutes certainly cannot bring to McMinnville the impotence they displayed in letting their Whitworth encounter get away from them.

A most improbable scenario would be the unranked and disrespected WILDCATS of August wading through 3 ranked teams, winning their first AQ, looking at a home playoff game, leaving the glory of such accomplishments in the pockets of the Plutes, at home.

Phone this one in.

OK then, continuing a drudge day....

LINFIELD 1982 FOOTBALL SEASON

QuoteThe postseason opened on a sloppy Maxwell Field, but California
Lutheran quarterback Russ Jensen was still able to set NAIA playoff
records for pass attempts (57), completions (35) and passing yards
(437); but he also tied the record for interceptions with seven and
Tarpenning had three of those in Linfield's 20-16 win.
