As much as I would enjoy seeing PLU beat Linfield -- I think for the good of the NWC, it's truly better if the "other" Cats win out.    We don't get enough respect as it is, so this year belongs to Linfield and WU will come back stronger & better next year.   Maybe we could skip the annual Concordia game and play someone in the same time zone?

Go Bearcats -- finish strong at Menlo.   It really was a pretty great season.

So, this is my weak attempt to join the bandwagon, drink the Kool-aid or whatever you want to call it . . .

Guess we could hope for some late fall outs at the top of the rankings . . . .

Ah, well, silence is golden I see.

Let me go against d3 protocol and quote myself

QuoteA most improbable scenario would be the unranked and disrespected WILDCATS of August wading through 3 ranked teams, winning their first AQ, looking at a home playoff game, leaving the glory of such accomplishments in the pockets of the Plutes, at home.

Would they? Would they?

Bearcatpress or any of the other Willamette backers headed to the bay area for the last game of the season?

Unfortunately, barring a shock selection to the playoffs (a scenario where I would empty my bank account to fly wherever the game might be), my career personally covering Willamette games for the Collegian is finished. :( I'll have my computer speakers turned up this weekend, listening to Mike Allegre and Craig Spivey - although hopefully I'll get to see some shots of the game taken by cawcdad?

LINFIELD 1982 FOOTBALL SEASON

http://www.linfield.edu/sports/hof-member.php?m=5

QuoteThe postseason opened on a sloppy Maxwell Field, but California
Lutheran quarterback Russ Jensen was still able to set NAIA playoff
records for pass attempts (57), completions (35) and passing yards
(437); but he also tied the record for interceptions with seven and
Tarpenning had three of those in Linfield's 20-16 win.

QuoteRUSS JENSEN WAS THE 'GREATEST QB' TO EVER PLAY IN THE UNITED KINGDOM

"Russ Jensen is arguably the greatest QB to have ever played in the
UK. The ex-LA Raider came to these shores in 1988, and turned around
the Birmingham Bulls to become one of the best sides the land has
seen."

Nice links, also mentioned in the '82 article was Barnett from OIT who I believe played for the LA Express in the USFL.

My favorite late season swoon by the Cats would be '83.  After beating us you dropped the second to last game to Willamette and then tied Whitworth giving us the outright conference title and propelling us into the playoffs where we dropped the National Championship game that was in our grasp.

GO LUTES

wildcat11

Really looking forward to this weekends game.  To me, the 'Lutes are always dangerous but that was built into me during my playing days after suffering losses 4 out of the 5 seasons I was at the 'Catdome.  I hope that everyone that can will make it out to the game...rain or shine.  We need a big effort from the 'Catdome faithful out there.  Bring a friend, family member, neighbor....let's break the 3K mark this weekend!

Like 3000 people in the stands?  Is this game in Puyallup or McMinnville?

GHC:

Early notice---TDT may be traveling for business (Moscow, Russia) when the 'Cats come to Cville in Round 2 of the Dance.  I know this is highly disappointing to you and it isn't a sure thing just yet, but had to give you notice so you wouldn't think TDT was ducking ya...

I hate to say it TDT but yeah...we haven't broke 3K this season and only had 1,750 for the UPS game.  Maybe you could fly out to the game this weekend since you are an accomplished jet setter and help push us over the 3k mark.  There is no reason why there shouldn't be a big crowd this weekend....

Picking up a bride, TDT? Have you been chatting with a particular gal through a web service...or do you just plan to select one once you are there in person?

TDT,

WC11 has actually been to Moscow after my senior year in High School.  Depressing has hell and I quickly figured out why vodka is cheaper than water.  Good luck.

No, no, they have this really neat thing now where she picked him.

Hey Dee are you coming to the Catdome on Sat.  I promise to have some super High octaine Longies for all of us.
I always do a special mix for PLU week because the blue jug started 8 years ago in the field outside of Sparks.

Phone it in

Not a problem TDT as I see it if your boys make it past round one they will travel to the Catdome for their beatdown anyway.  I will send you a link, so you and your new store bought girlfriend can watch it.
