Just trying to figure a way for Johnnies to host the West championship.  A stunner in the rain in Salem might do the trick.

Wouldn't the best bet for the Johnnies to host the West championship be to win their games decisively and be ranked higher in the polls rather than trying to find a way for the Wildcats to get slowed down by long grass on Field Turf ? ::)

It's too cold to be playing football in MN in late Nov. It's not exactly tropical weather in Mc Minnville in Nov. but I'd pick it over MN.

DC1,...... looking forward to the Elks game planning nights!

Just talked with one of the J.V. players........
Word is, that  "Kid"  of yours had a few big hits! :o Hope he had fun!!!! ;D
Only at a D3 football game could you have 2 seats on the 50 yard line (2 rows behind bluenote) and have an obstructed view!
I love D3 Football!!!

I just talked with one of my buddies out in oregon and I was wondering why you call them the Lizcats, and he told me that a girl kicker scored on Linfield in 97 and that they kicked Linfields butt that year.  I myself am  montana Griz Fan but it seems to me that you have sour grapes.  We hate our rival the Bobcats of Montana State and want to kill them but if they can make the playoffs then we say great how about two from the Big Sky, why do you folks not jump the bandwagon and get two from the NWC each year, I know you people are the smart private school type, ever think Linfield will be a little down some season and lose even 1 game in region and need some help, I should hope they would go with one loss and especially if WU loses then it was to the USC if you will of D3 who has a better regional record. get em in

Foss

It's a little more complicated than that this year, DarkHarvest. I was a big proponent for Willamette getting in last year (which I think they deserved) and Whitworth this year. But the 'Rats laid an egg. If we were in the East, I would say hell yeah because I still think a 5-4 Willamette might still be the 8th best team there. But it's a different story in the loaded West, and this year there might be a more deserving team or two than Willamette. The last thing the NWC needs is for the Bearcats to get smacked again in the first round, it would be better if they didn't make it, IMO. I just don't know either way this season and am looking forward to the committee's decision.

darkharvest....I get the feeling that there isn't any Linfield fan who can "wish" Willamette into the playoffs.   I'm pretty much with d-train.  The only way Willamette can get in is with a win over Linfield.

Thanks to all of you who had kind words for Linfield SID Kelly Bird.  I hope that he can get to the board to read them....and if anyone in Linfield sees Kelly around, be sure to give him your thanks.   Personal note.....I've worked with Kelly since he came to Linfield some 15 years ago.    I am tremendously happy to be able to work the numbers side at our home games, which frees Kelly up to take pictures, work with the media and get releases written and out the door as soon as possible.   I've gotten to the point to where I *enjoy* everything about those Saturday afternoons in the press box, not only the game, but the relationships with the student assistants as well.

KennethK.....nice to see your special brand of myopia come to the NWC board.   I just looked at a long range weather forecast for the area.....Saturday is cloudy with a chance of showers.   But maybe that turf will grow a bunch over at Willamette this week.   Maybe there is some special seeds they can pick up at the Farmers Co-op store or something.... ;D

What I'm wondering is what kind of screaming is going to go on over at the MIAC board *if* Whitewater is the #2 seed in the West and SJU is the #3 seed....meaning the Johnnies may wind up with just one home game and travel to both Wisconsin and McMinnville.

Should be an interesting time this weekend

Tuxguy

L. Beancounter,  I agree, Kelly does a heck of a job. always ready to answer any questions one might have.

With a student on the Soccer team these past few yrs its been hard on this die hard Football fan, but I see him at both games taking photos. And all one has to do is go to another schools site to see what a great job he is doing!

Looks like it could be a rainy playoff type of year. Guess the Cats might as well get used to it starting this weekend.
1 Game at time! on to Salem!! GO WILDCATS!!! ;D

Foss,
Then ship the cats to the east, i am not saying there great and I haven't seen them in person except for the whitworth game but they might do some damage and guess what, they all come back next season, only 4 seniors.

spiritof86

If you mean ship the "wildcats" to the east, that aint happening. Nore is a shipment of the lizcats.

Saturday will be the most epic tailgate ever, especially if my wife gives birth under the Quick-Shade.

Foss

I think he means the Bearcats. I'm sure Speck and Co. would gladly fly out there if it meant they could get into the dance, DarkHarvest. But we both know that would never happen. I think Willamette's playoffs may likely be starting this Saturday unless some strange things happen around the country.

Willamette, you have a shot at the NWC title and a bid to the playoffs this Saturday. Is DarkHarvest the only Willamette supporter?

Foss -

You say supporter like it has magical powers.

Sadly, I am a supporter of a number of teams this year - yet it has no impact -

For most NWC games involving Willamette, I would root for them - to be honest, I foresee a fairly close game (14 - 20 point difference) for Saturday, but there is no way I could Predict Willamette to come up on top - though if they did, I would be pleasantly surprised and I will root and encourage as best I can.

I am a Menlo supporter and like I said in a post a long time ago - the 2nd or 3rd week of the season - their game Saturday against Colorado is their one chance for a win this season after having lost to Whittier - you see - despite my support, they have been winless -

I am a 49er supporter and you can see how much help my support does for them.

I believe that is is good to be a supporter, but mouthing off and talking trash really does no good - the result is in the hands of the players and coaches and may they do their best

d-train...classic! With all this rain I just hope the 'Willimmette' river doesn't overflow its banks onto the field! ;)
I've heard their putting sandbags around just in case. My biggest concern is that they replace all the lights out.

Foss

rbaikie, I have no idea what you are saying. If you are saying I think that when I support something, I think that will happen (whether it's a team getting into the playoffs or not, or supporting a team winning or losing) due to my "support" having some mysterious effect, that's really too absurd to even address. But nice try.

Willamette has to win this Saturday to earn a spot in the playoffs.  The fact that they have only one loss that 'counts' is just plain lucky since UMHB is in the 'south' region.  The Lizcats will be 5-4 after Saturday and don't deserve to be in the playoffs.  This isn't the NBA.
