Hey all you Wildcat fans-

Let me add my congrats to those coming from around the region. Linfield jumped out quickly and was able to overcome the turnovers for a nice victory. Go get MHB this weekend!

No new top 25 either.

Bluenote, do you believe the McMinnville team should jump over Wesley?  ::)

In the polls, fools.

...They used to have the top 4 seeds rated #1 through #4, and you'd know which region played who for the semis.....I don't see their logic this time around. It's all loosey goosey with everybody in the dark.   :o

How far is McMinville from Portland. Any decent hotels to stay at in Mcminville.

Hi Crudbdad.

McMinnville is about an hour and half drive from Portland International.  Being that if you were coming in on Friday, it may be a little less traffic and you may be able to make it in an hour and 10 minutes.  We are about 45 Miles SW of Portland International.  Pretty easy drive too.

If you want to stay in town I would recommend the Comfort Inn and Suites or the Red Lion Inn.  The Best Western Vinyards Inn is also pretty good and they are all less than 5 minutes from the Catdome.

Both the Comfort Inn and Red Lion are also just 2-3 minutes from downtown where all the good eating and drinking establishments are.  Try Golden Valley Brew Pub for dinner.  Right down the street is a good old watering  hole know effectionatley as the 'D' short for Deluxe.  Some fans meet there Friday evening and some go to the Elks.

If you come out hope you have a great trip
Crudbdad:
If needed, there is a Best Western and other hotels in the town of Newberg which is about 20+ minutes from Linfield.
Be sure you drive the posted speed limit going through the towns surrounding McMinnville.

Thanks. I have learned from driving thru all of the Texas spped traps to get to UMHB games to drive the speed limit, so Barney doesn't write me a ticket. ;)

Nice one on the acronym, FIM, It has a nice ring to it.  I'll have to remember that one....Maybe we can get some TARP or stimulus money for the winner.  Actually, I may have been one of the leaders of the pack going into the playoffs at this time last year...but I was finally overtaken by a much more zealous and vocal crowd.  As for the reward....Orifice Kicking...or OK is neither Okay nor PC....But I would propose stimulus or TARP money.  After all if we can get cash for clunkers, why not cash for FIM?  Gee, come to think of it, FIM just might qualify under the new health reform bill.  Becareful what you ask for or raidertown just might go home with a pile of money.

Thanks Pat....The announcer at the Linfield/Cal Luth game said that the home fields would be announced Sunday....then I heard nothing about it....so I guess they missed the announcement on Thursday.

They announcers made that comment and then a few minutes later (as the game ended) they said--it was confirmed that the game would be in Mac.  I'm guessing they use the same source for this info that they used for their score updates--info is right, just delayed :)

ADvantage Catdome:  Cats Win!  Linfield dethrones Cal Lutheran in Round 1 of NCAA's

Always enjoy your post game analysis, WC11. Looking forward to your preview of the MHB game. I'd like to get your take along with the Linfield fans on this board about the issue of student attendance at the Catdome. It sounds as though students are not attending in the numbers of the past, which is surprising, especially considering the return to the playoffs by this years squad. Does anyone have any ideas on why this is, and what can be done about it?

Is the economy to blame, are there more students having to work who would normally have more free time, and be interested in attending? Are there fewer numbers of Linfield students from the general area, who may not feel the connection to the university? Does LC have more commuter students than in the past?

Should there be a renewed effort to market the football program, to both students and non students as well? I noticed schools like Mount Union offer much more in the way of football merchandise, such as helmets, shirts and hats. The last time I was at the Catdome, they had plenty of clothing, but nothing about The Streak, or Linfield's four national titles. Wildcat fans who buy and wear this gear are advertising the program wherever they go. It's a little thing, but with all the competition out there, increased marketing may help the attendence situation.
