Gig Harbor Cat

Another point of interest on the Civil War Game.  OSU ran the Fly Sweep set and it worked at the D1 level.  Earlier there were comments on weather Speckmans system would work at Portland.

I say Yes

I would bet that Locey and Langsdorf played a part in installing the fly sweep.  Speaking of Locey, I saw him on the sidelines a couple of times.  Good to see a familiar face.  It was nice to hear the ESPN guys positive comments about the Beavs.  I grew up in a time when the Beavers were horrible.  Although I would have liked to see the Beavers win, I think the Dux match up better with Ohio State.  This will be one of those times when I root for the Ducks.

Best Wishes for the Cats from a Whitworth Rat.......

While sitting in a downtown pub in Anchorage, Alaska this evening watching the Civil War game with a group of friends, a 'Rat' player from a decade ago walked up to the table, recognized me and yelled GO WILDCATS.....and then proceeded to tell the guys that we were watching a couple teams who had lost a game or two but the real undefeated team in Oregon was Linfield.  Believe it or not, I sat quietly as a Whitworth Rat talked about how great the Wildcats were and how they were really the best football team in the State of Oregon (obviously he had one too many adult beverages at that point in the evening).  Still it was nice to here even a Rat pulling for the Cats this weekend.

GO CATS -ONE GAME AT A TIME

It was disappointing Oregon State couldn't hold the lead last night, with the Linfield influence on the coaching staff, I was rooting for the Beavers to win. It's
interesting to note that Linfield is the only college in the state of Oregon which has ever won a national title(s), in football. I would think it's rare for any D3 school to hold that distinction for their individual state.
If I'm not mistaken, most if not all of the Linfield influence is on Offense and there wasn't much wrong with that side of the game for the Beavs last night. :)
Go Cats!

Well, I'm just headed out the Hotel door to the airport here in Dallas, (work in Dallas, live in Minnesota). I'll fly up to Minneapolis, pick up my Wife Sue, change planes and off to Portland together, (she hates to fly alone-big baby!). We should get into Portland around 1pm.

I'm hopin' you guys will have some sort of get together in McMinnville for all of the fans? We'll stay in Portland till Monday, (Celebrating a Tommie Victory), before back to Minneapolis, drop Sue off, then back down to Dallas/Fort Worth.

See You Friday Nite or Saturday at the Game. Looking forward to meeting some of you in the Great North West.

Goooooooo Tommies!!!

You're doing a lot of traveling, WinterHawk. Maybe you'll want to visit Dallas, Oregon on your trip out here. It's quite the garden spot.

Good Rat story, '64.
That was a heck of a game tonight.

Dutchie and Warty,
Thanks for the support from Iowa!
I live in Dallas  ;D

Stress free and safe travel to all. No injuries!

Interesting Triple Take. D3 crew all picking the purple battle as the closest region final, but all picking Linfield to win...should be interesting.

Anyone have score predictions?

My hope: UST 31 Linfield 28 (somehow my loyalty to the MIAC outweighs my distaste for UST   :-\)

My prediction: UST 24 Linfield 38

Good luck to both teams and may everyone stay healthy!

D O.C.

No score predictions from me.
Having mulled last week's game over and over and over I figure the LINFIELD WILDCATS still would have beaten UMHB 25-21 without 4 turnovers turned into points.
We can figure on another even play-off game with teams making their own breaks. Home game must be worth a point so I likes our chances.
Believe me, nobody is looking past this Saturday to playing Wittenburg   ;D

A massive amount of links to carry you into the weekend.  Enjoy!

I gotta like the Cats in this one.  If you look at the UMHB game, it all changed when we switched from the 3-4 to the 5-3 D.  Look at the season as a whole and Linfield has shown the ability to make the right adjustments and shut people down.  The O will put up their normal 35-38 points, and the D will hold UST to 17.
Linfield 38   UST 17

What's the weather for tomorrow in McMinnville?  It's snowing down here in TX right now!!

Partly clowdy, high of 40.  PERFECT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Didn't I say it was a garden spot? We lived in Valsetz for five years back in the day, before you were born. That was a REAL paradise.

I'm showing that the thermometer has moved up to a balmy 31 now, bright and sunny in Cat Land.

6T3Bird:  I'd agree with your assessment about the 2nd half adjustments.  Although my only opportunity to  see the 'Cats live  this year, was when they came down to Oxy. ... but that was exactly what stood out to me in that game too.  Great adjustments at halftime.

I went down on the field after that game... was amazed at how big our kids were compared to in years past.  Maybe I'm just getting old and remember when safeties were huge at 190lbs.  LOL  I know the UST kids are big up front but I doubt it's a factor.

Find a Cause!!!!

6t3bird

Cat Bat,  I must be older than you 'cause we had a nose guard named Jimmy Mayo who was only about 195, and he was a MONSTER!  Our DB's were 175 soaking wet!

CAT BAT 22

probably... I guess that's how it goes.  In 2020 the 'Cats FS will be 6'6 260 and run a 4.3 in full pads
