Go Cats!

CATS GONE WILD!

I love it! And they did it without all the cylinders firing. A little fix here... a little tweak there... look out UWW, here we come!

hmmm, I gotta figure out how to get "Ti" (hula) leaves to Wisconsin.

Wisconsin knows very little about real cold....trust me on that one. ;D

Do Freshman kickers from Hawaii know anything about kicking a brick in the cold, criswyly? Will we see the 'cats going for 2 if they score?  ;)

The 2009 'Cats are 12-0.  Only four other Linfield teams have matched that record...1982, 1984, 1986, and 2004 (13-0).  Incredible job 'Cats.  Why not make this 13-0 next week?   ;)

Very well done Wildcats!    Not bad for a No-Name team picked for 2nd or 3rd in the NWC 3 months ago.   To think this team exceeded our magnificent 2002, 2003 and 2005 teams would have been unbelievable before the season started.  Very impressive team, indeed!!

Robbing the cookie jar for a trip to Wisconsin!

Congratulations to the Cats!

I don't know if it was the mystique of the Catdome, playoff jitters, or perhaps just a better prepared opponent, but the Tommies did not appear ready for the Blitzkreig at the start of the game.  In my heart of hearts I still had hope, but after watching Linfield march down the field on its opening drive (minus the formation penalties -- come on guys its the 12th game of the year) I knew it was over.  Also, throughout the whole game, absolutely fantastic punt coverage.  The Cats special teams were top notch.

All in all, I would say a disappointing effort from the Tommies yesterday.  When you're playing on the road, against a more experienced, better, team, you not only need to put forth an excellent performance but you also need the ball to bounce your way a few times.  Yesterday, Linfield played better and got all the bounces (that offsides on the punt bad by stomach churn).  Congratulations on a fine win and good luck next year at WW.

We also switched over to the Linfeild/St. Thomas games. 3 observations. The announcers suck, the video feed sucked and it will be a verrrrrrrrry long day for Linfeild if they can't get at least some sort of run game going. We were not impressed with any part of thier game. IMHO

Well, we will see next Saturday.

Well it was a good game, IMO we played down to Wittenberg in the first half and right in the beginning of the third quarter. Dropped passes, oline giving up the two sacks and going for some bombs when recievers were open for the first down (especially on one play in the third quarter where the fullback was wide open and Donovan went for a deep pass well out of bounds). Their offense got away with a lot of clipping in the first half as well. But overall they played a good game, a lot better than I thought they would.

As for Linfield if they play the way they did today they will be in trouble. Coppage will run the ball a lot better than UST did today and we'll pass a lot better too without giving up many (if any) turnovers. They could easily have a good passing day against us but I can see that being ironed out this week. I still think Linfield will show up but I see us winning by about 24. Prediction UWW wins 38-14.

GO CATS! GO!

GT,
Neither one of those posters had the priviledge of seeing the 05 match up between our teams, I believe.  For those of us who were around in 05 and did see it, there will be NO underestimating that a dog fight will take place at the Perk next weekend!  You can use a few posts to stir up bulliton board material if you want but I would wager that for the most part, the Cats and their fans will recieve nothing but the respect and kudos that they deserve.  I, for one, am very nervous for this game and hate it when the revenge factor plays against my team.  Besides, the Butcher may not be throwing the ball in the Perk on Saturday, but I hear he is coaching the one that is. ;) Doesn't matter what a few posters say, the Hawks and their coaching staff know what they will be up against and will prepare the troops for battle and that is all that matters.

Congrats to the Cats on a great win and season so far.  Can't wait for this weekend to welcome the Linfield faithful to the Perk.   8)

PPJ and grouchygramps:
Good job from Simon yesterday. ;) Have a safe trip back to California.

ps. I'm still smiling about that last 4th down play. The switch with the punt team and then the throw for a first down. Classic. :D
Go Cats! Make it 62 in '17!

Proud Papa Joe

goodmorning Dad. What a great game yesterday. Mrs. PPJ and I are still in Oregon. Stopped last night and stayed at Sevenfeathers. Didn't feel like driving.
What a game. Defense steps up agian. Our kids are just the best. That running back for the tommies was a tall lankey kid and he could get down hill. Every time he was hit he would get 2-3 more yards. Nice game 8.

How about that Tailgate Party, now that is tailgate tested and tailgate approved. Thank you very much John and crew for the fabulous food. Chowder, Shrimp, Smoked Salmon, BBQ Salmon, BBQ Sturgen and all the good stuff brought by the regulars. Glenn you are the man, thanks for everything.

And yes I am a PPJ today. I did give Simon advise and I am glad he took it. I do believe the fress legs helped alot.

Great job everyone on the team and the coach's.

Go Wildcats beat them UWW ?????????????

I was very impressed with STU. They were really a solid bunch. Very large also. Linfield was out of sinc on offense but our defense played a solid game and kept STU in check.

chewey from SJU tried to pull the wool over our eyes and make it sound like STU wasn't that good but they were a very good team. They didn't have the talent at the skill positions like Cal Luth and UMHB did but they were better on defense and had a better O-line than either of those teams IMHO.

Their pass rush/blitz was frustrating to us and Boehme got sacked more times than I would like. That is good though because now we know we must attack with shorter time frames which is not a bad thing. STU is very good with rush defense. But out guys got good yardage and ground it out....no long runs but at least we kept them honest.

Overall just a great game at the CatDome and it was great to see a very large STU crowd on hand also. They were very vocal and really cheered their team on. They never gave up the whole game.

I never said they are a bad team.  I said that they are a good team but I think Linfield is a better one.  They're big and they're good at the skill positions but Linfield is/was more athletic all the way around.  I don't think I ever said it would be an easy game.  I did say that Linfield had too much for them and that Linfield would prevail.  STU has come a long way in the last couple of years so I do respect them but I do not think they are a Linfield.

I think Linfield will meet its match next week at Perkins Stadium, though.  UWW gets all of those Madison/Milwaukee, Wisconsin kids and Chicago kids who aren't quite good enough for D1, so they are always pretty tough.  I am going to try and make the trip over there with Brice.  I would love to see this next game.  Unfortunately, I think Linfield will be next week what STU was today:  A very good team but not quite as good as UWW.  I hope I'm wrong as I'll be throwing in with the Linfield persuasion.  I hope it's Linfield vs. MUC in two weeks.

Chewey,

I think those are some good thoughts and for good reason UWW will be the clear favorite but this Linfield team has just made me such a believer in just the road they took this season to get this far.  I'm just enjoying the ride but I believe Linfield can find a way next weekend.  It's going to take a huge effort but I believe in this Wildcat team.

Bobo,

I'll get my moon boots and mittens out of the attic and I hope to see you in the Perk Parking lot for some Wisconsin tailgate fixings.

I, too, believe that Linfield can win the game next Saturday and I hope that's what will happen.  When a team has that certain swagger and refined focus on doing things correctly like hanging on to the football, staying with your blocks, etc., that counts for a lot.  St. John's played them tough the first half last year in the playoffs but UWW was just too much for them in the 2nd.  But, that SJU team was no Linfield 2009.  Other than this year and 2007 at Central, UWW is where SJU's playoffs have ended the past couple of years.  They have 2 or 3 very good running backs and are a very good running team.  They can pass effectively when they want to do so and they have (or had last year) big lines.

I hope Blue, coco and Wildcat11 and as many of you as possible can come out to Perkins Stadium.  You'll have a good time there and the cheese heads are very friendly.  You fly right in to Milwaukee and it's only about a 60 mile (if that) drive from the airport.  It's a nice stadium with good concessions but I don't know if they have the turf yet or if it's still grass.  Dress warmly because the wind can howl through there pretty well.

Congrats Linfield, was there ever any doubt?  Bring on Whitewater.  Best of Luck.
