I didn't want to bring this up because overall the 'Cat Fans were top notched in my opinion but, since you DID bring up the 'Cat fans in front of the Visitors Stands you dtated, "don't give visitor fans/players any crap is an outright lie or your looking thru rose colored glasses! I was embarassed for our "Ladies" in the stands that had to listen to the foul mouthed, crude & over the top 'Cat fans there.

This was the only dissapointing moment besides the loss on a great day of Football hosted by an overall proud & 1st class organization.

I don't get TOMMY FANS

We invited them to join us at the Deluxe  Pregame   NO SHOW

We invited them to join us at our Prime time Tailgate  NO SHOW
They instead decided to tailgate on the north side of the Catdome

Anyone that has ever been to the Catdome knows that the following rules apply.  Season ticket holders sit under cover.
Visiting team fans usually sit across in the stands on the fifty.  Students in the south endzone  (South Forty style)
The rest of the field is lined with the hard core Cat fans sometimes 4 deep.  On the visiting side the boys move up and down the field as the game action goes on--usuall between the 30's only.  When we go in front of the visiting stands we dont give the visitiors any crap,  Just go on our way.

This held true yesterday but I ( as a veteran hardcore fan) noticed some things that I just dont get about the Tommies ??

The Tommy team requested heaters for their sidelines ??  We had no heaters on the Cat side-- Are the Tommies really from Minnesota--  Cmon now  Man up a little !!

The tommie fans must have been very cold as well because throughout the whole game they were bouncing their feet off of the metal stands just to keep warm (we didnt supply heaters for the stands) They couldn't have been doing it as some kind of cheer, cause it would have given you a frickin headache in no time at all.

About half way through the second quarter the crew was moving from south to north when these 3 tommie girls ( very short) munchkin type came down and started walking with our crowd screaming
Tommmieehh,,Tommmieehh.  One was right next to me and she stopped to catch her breath and she asked me,  well arent you going to cheer.  I just asked her-- do I look like a frickin cheerleader and moved on.  They started back up Tommmioiehh,  Tommmieeehh.  Three trips later I had to ask.  I asked her which player number was her player boyfriend Mr Tommmieeh.  She said they all were Tommmieehh's  at this point I figured she was dating the whole Tommy team and moved on ( with a smile)  Back in the day we had names for girls that dated the whole team, but thats another story all together.

Next to join the party was a MILD ( mom I'd like to drop kick).  She joined in with her pom pom's screaming with the munchkins, front row right in the middle of the Cat crew.  I noticed that my buddies that work at the steel plant were quite impressed with Mrs MILD, we just moved on ( with a smile) She stayed with us for the duration pom pom's and munchkins in tow.  I think she kinda liked the steel workers, cause she was up on em pretty good.  I can only imagine what my son would have done if he would have come off of the field after a defensive stop with the fellahs and seen Mrs GHC bouncing around with pom poms yelling go Cats go.  Holy Crap Batman-- It would have been baddddddddddddd !!!

All in all it was another great Catdome experience--- No Harm done,  everyone had a great time in their own way.

I think I am starting to understand the comments from the SJU boys about the Tommieeesshh

Bottom line  I don't get TOMMY fans!!

Evidently the Cats Eye video production of MHB/Linfield game reached an all time high of world wide viewers (almost 2,000 folks tuned in to see the Cru and the Cats duke it out, which is almost as many folks in the stadium total).  It seemed like the server was having a few problems keeping up with the traffic yesterday, so perhaps we had even a much larger audience across the world wide web.  Anyone know how many viewers watched the Cats take it to the Tommies yesterday?

Neither one of those posters had the priviledge of seeing the 05 match up between our teams, I believe.  For those of us who were around in 05 and did see it, there will be NO underestimating that a dog fight will take place at the Perk next weekend!  

I really could care less what happened between our teams in 05. We won, it was a great game from what I saw on Linfield's fan site recap (didn't get into UWW football until the Stagg Bowl that year when I was accepted there for 06). But the thing is that that game was 4 years ago and nobody on the teams are the same. So both sides can talk all they want about that game and it'll mean nothing.

Besides that I think UWW 09 is better than UWW 05 and that Linfield 09 is worse than Linfield 05. And I do respect Linfield, I know that you guys can beat us if we play bad, I just don't think we will.   

I really don't know if WW 09 is better than WW 05, that was yet another team that lost to Mount in the Stagg Bowl. Time will tell. Linfield 09 does have one important major advantage over Linfield 05, and that's the run game. Also, the ability to win on the road against quality opposition, can't be discounted.

I remember back a few years ago that there was a little play that Linfield used when teams brought a lot of pressure with blitzes, etc against Brett Elliott....it was a little dump pass over the middle that would just terrorize defenses if they blitzed a lot. I'm not a football expert but does anybody know if we still have that type of play to throw off the defense if they blitz a lot like the Tommies did? It seems like a lot of our passing scheme relies on fairly long developing routes....I'd like to see some quicker, shorter passes to keep the other team off balance. I know I don't know what I'm talking about but I just thought I'd throw that in....

Hey Jedi,

A better prepared and more disciplined team usually (99%) prevails in a football game. Three questions for Saturday: Does the more intelligent team make their opponent play badly? What happens when a home team plays well enough to win, but still loses? Worse yet, what happens when visiting team plays poorly and still wins?

Think about it! Tighten your jock strap baby and suck it up!

....Do you UWW guys play on synthetic or are you still on grass.  I suspect that synthectic would be a better playing surface at 25 degrees but don't really know.....It would be interesting to know how the Linfield coaching staff is preparing for this level of cold.

Not a WW guy here, but the Hawks do have a similar playing surface to Linfield, synthetic. No advantage to WW there. The early weather forecast for Saturday is partly sunny, with highs in the low 20s. If snow and strong winds stay away, you'd have to say weather won't be a significant factor in this game.
