The 2009 'Cats are 12-0.  Only four other Linfield teams have matched that record...1982, 1984, 1986, and 2004 (13-0).  Incredible job 'Cats.  Why not make this 13-0 next week?   ;)

Very well done Wildcats!    Not bad for a No-Name team picked for 2nd or 3rd in the NWC 3 months ago.   To think this team exceeded our magnificent 2002, 2003 and 2005 teams would have been unbelievable before the season started.  Very impressive team, indeed!!

Robbing the cookie jar for a trip to Wisconsin!

Linfield...a no-name team, Seriously???.  don't you guys have the longest active winning-season streak in D3  ??? I'll give you the fact that this team has more than exceeded expectations this season, but calling them a no-name team is a stretch...give them a little more credit than that.

....Do you UWW guys play on synthetic or are you still on grass.  I suspect that synthectic would be a better playing surface at 25 degrees but don't really know.....It would be interesting to know how the Linfield coaching staff is preparing for this level of cold.

Not a WW guy here, but the Hawks do have a similar playing surface to Linfield, synthetic. No advantage to WW there. The early weather forecast for Saturday is partly sunny, with highs in the low 20s. If snow and strong winds stay away, you'd have to say weather won't be a significant factor in this game.

Yes, cris, the field turf was installed before last year. The many late season games recently, especially with all the snow, were a maintainance headache for the grounds staff. The grass field was taking a beating. The grass field was very nice to have, but it's time was up.

Ha, let me clue you in on a little secret about the weather (I'm sure you've heard this before)...wait 5 minutes and that forcast will change!! LOL  ;)  :D  ;D  Warning: don't consult with the Wesley football staff - they had a couple lousy trips to the frozen tundra south.

One correction, whenever there's a big, purple Warhawk head on the 50 yard line, it's a huge advantage for the home team, just like when you play on the field where there's a Big L in the middle!!  :P

02, I think that win streak is like the longest on the west coast or something like that, if I remember correctly - more than just D3.

EDIT: just looked, 02, it's the longest non-losing streak in all of NCAA football, not just on the west coast. That's rather impressive.

Congrats again to the Wildcats.  The more you win, the better we look. ;D

UWW and Linfield should be a barn-burner.  Perhaps the Whitewater fans can fill me in - how much came back from the team that played Willamette last year?

Linfield has the longest streak of consecutive winning seasons in all of college football, regardless of division.  But after watching Willamette play the underdog card so successfully last year, Wildcat fans are trying their luck at it - and succeeding pretty well.  The primary source for this mentality seems to be that they were picked third in the NWC in Kickoff.  Seriously, what NWC sportswriter could be dumb enough to pick Linfield third?

I think he means no INDIVIDUAL big name players.  You know, like years back when the Dallas D was referred to as the No Name Defense, as in no known stars.

PPJ, now that the kid is on the front page of d3football.com, that kind of makes him a celebrity.  AND by extension, that kind of makes you a celebrity.  AND that kind of makes me a little bit famous for knowing you.  Also since no one from St. Thomas could bring him down, I also feel pretty good about likely being the only one on this board who has tackled him in a game  ;D.  Congrats to Linfield on a stellar, statement win.

P.S.  I'm coming home for Christmas PPJ... you should be back from the Stagg Bowl in time to come visit for some football and rolling hills blackjack, right?

Not a big deal, but I think you mean the Miami Dolphin defense of the early to mid 70's. Dallas was the Doomsday Defense, with Randy White and Ed "Too Tall" Jones. The University of South Carolina had an interesting name for their defense in the 1980s, the "Red Ants". This was when the Gamecocks wore red helmets, and all red uniforms.

Exactly right, SpeedyBigBoy.  Our great teams of 1986, 1992, 2002, 2003, 2004 and 2005 had lots of proven stars returning.   In August, the fans had no clue about this team.   We lost a lot of players from last year.   The coaches probably had a good idea of what this team might do.   We knew the Wildcats would be respectable, but Willamette had to be a heavy favorite in the NWC.

The 2009 Linfield team was a no-name team.   That has changed!

Win or lose Saturday, UWW will know Linfield is back---big time.   Yes, UWW is a heavy favorite, but we will see Saturday.

I was thinking it might have been Miami and not Dallas, but that really makes my point.
They were so No Name I didn't even get the team right.   ;D

George, I had no doubt your guys would top the NWC this year.  I'm sure a part of that is that I come from a time when it was us (PLU) and Linfield on top and everyone else was fighting for 3rd, when the others were having a great season they would give us a scare but still come out on the losing end of the score.   I still struggle with Willamette and Whitworth consistently being better than my Lutes.

I'll be pulling fo the Cats again next weekend.

On offense we return 8 of the 11 who started against Williamette.  We've replaced both tackles and a tight end.  On the defensive side we return 10 of the 11 starters having replaced only a linebacker.  All 4 of the replacements played in the Williamette game.  Obviously we have experience.

Back home in cloudy Central CA.  ??? Great game yesterday, should be a real barn burner in Whitewater.
The Cats passing game wasn't what it has been in previous games. But teams have off games once in a while so to get the win was nice. The D and special teams picked up the slack. The 2005 game with UWW was probably the single most exciting game I've seen. I expect nothing less this Saturday.

Very understated bw - only a linebacker was D3 football defensive POY, Jace Rindahl.  ;)

Note to Linfield fans...don't come unless you just want to see how good WW is in person. The game will be over about half time, and WW's subs will be playing the second half. Most of the fans will leave for the bars at half time and watch WW's second team play Linfield about even.

OK...pet peeve time.  Not a fan when posters go onto their home board to tattle tale on what another posters wrote on their board.

I've been around long enough to know that Janesville Flash was being sarcastic and just responding to something you wrote to begin with so quit trying to manufacturing board smack talk.
