I was able to watch part of the UWW Witenberg game.  Witenberg stayed with UWW until the 4th quarter.  Was this because Witenberg was that great or was UWW on an off-start?  UWW posters?

Wittenberg's passing offense impressed me, they were able to dink and dunk the ball down the field with little 5-6 yard passes. they put together a couple long scoring drives in the first half.

Whitewater's offense looked the worse i've seen all year in the first half. running game wasn't there, a hand full of dropped passes, a pair of missed field goals. Even though we were up 14-13 at half, it felt like we were losing. then the second half was a complete 180....Wittenberg didn't score again, and whitewater ran off 17 unanswered to win 31-13.  Our narrowest game this season.

If Whitewater plays like they did in the first half this upcoming game......you guys might be able to steal one in Whitewater....Let's hope that doesn't happen though  ;).

If the forecast is reliable for sat., then the cold will not be much of a factor. The 'cats are practicing in cold temps right now, and the predicted high of 22 is really not too bad for mid-december. Wind and or precip would be a much larger factor, and this looks unlikely.

I am staying in Janesville, WI as I was able to use hotel points to secure a free room. The hotel sit. in whitewater proper looked sparse. I may not have been digging though.

Tailgate for saturday?
Saturday will be the most epic tailgate ever, especially if my wife gives birth under the Quick-Shade.

Tailgate for Saturday

It was great to get a chance to watch the 'cats on the internet. my brother and i watched the game on his laptop. it has been a while since we have had a wildcat fix like that so, we took ADvantage of the the tele? cast. I'm glad they are moving on. sounds like a tough one in whitewater. Oh well the Linfield has to do it the hard way to let all the D3 experts see that they belong. I'm hoping for a Wildcat Purple Raider Final. Its been some time in the making. lets hope all goes well and the cats' are at the dance.
GO CATS!!!!!!!

cat fans of all shapes and sizes - keep up the support!!!! i know from experience that the Linfield Fans are the best. It makes a huge impact when cat fans are out in number. i will always remember when we would have more fans than simon-fraiser and we were playing in canada. if that doesn't get you going....

oh well sorry....... anyway..........

Go Cats!!!!!!!!  Leave No Doubt......just thought i throw that in........

The webcast and film for the UWW game was topnotch with sideline reports and even a halftime show.  However my internet speed did not allow me a continuos view as it kept pausing to rebuff.  Did you have this problem D O.C.?  I was then able to watch the Wildcat feed without any problems.

Will be a long week waiting for this game to happen.  Apparently UWW appears to be a heavy favorite but I really like how our Cats are rolling right now.  I think UMHB was the toughest team we played yet but their turnovers absolutely killed them.  I'm hoping forthe same outcome in this weekends game.  The ball will bounce our way.  I believe!

I don't think temperature will be much a factor.  I remember when we played a game in Minnesota with cold temperatures I never realized it was cold until during a timeout and I couldn't drink out of a waterbottle because it had frozen over.  The adrenaline and movement of the game will keep the players warm.  If it's rainy and cold then that could be a factor but it would be for both teams.  Gotta love the games in December.

Let's go Cats!

I remember watching a special about the 1967 Ice Bowl game, and they said one official tried to use his metal whistle at the start of the game, and it stuck to his lips, and it had to be forcibly removed! That was the last time whistles were used in that classic game.
The Warhawks live feed of the game was very good, the only thing I would suggest is to lose the "Warhawk Replay" graphic when showing replays, everyone can tell by the slow motion that we're seeing a replay. The station logo graphic with the Warhawk logo would be sufficient.
Aside from the student broadcast, will anyone else like Fox be covering the game for the Wisconsin viewers? Just curious.

If anyone else is covering it most likely would be a delayed broadcast.  Some WIAC football games are shown on FSNWisconsin but they are always delayed broadcasts.

I do remember the Icebowl in Greenbay....I don't think anyone benefitted or really wanted to play in that weather...Both teams were just basically froze in time...Not an enjoyable game to watch.  Personally, I  hope this game gets snowed out with a huge snow storm and the NCAA is  forced to move it indoors.....There's a storm a comin ;D ;D

One final Ice Bowl story: It was so cold, Cowboys QB Don Meredith was losing the ability to call plays in the huddle, to formulate speech. One of the Dallas receivers said Meredith at times, actually had to use a hand around his mouth area in order to articulate words properly. The irony here was that Meredith was earlier photographed getting off the Cowboys team plane in Wisconsin, with his hands together and a big smile after saying "easy money", describing the Cowboys chances in the game. Fortunately for Packer fans, Bart Starr had no such problems, especially on the game winning drive.

STRONG LOW PRESSURE IS STILL EXPECTED TO DEVELOP OVER THE SOUTHERN PLAINS ON TUESDAY... AND WILL MOVE NORTHEAST TO LOWER MICHIGAN ON WEDNESDAY. THIS TRACK WOULD RESULT IN HEAVY SNOW OVER MUCH OF SOUTHERN WISCONSIN. TOTAL SNOWFALL WILL LIKELY EXCEED 8 INCHES IN MOST AREAS.

IN ADDITION... STRONG WINDS WILL RESULT IN BLOWING AND DRIFTING SNOW AND SEVERELY REDUCED VISIBILITIES TUESDAY EVENING... AND AGAIN ON WEDNESDAY. NEAR BLIZZARD CONDITIONS ARE EXPECTED FOR SEVERAL HOURS.

I have one question about a ref call in the game that maybe someone can answer for me:

When we ran onto the field in punt formation late in the game why did the official stand over the ball after it had already been whistled into play?  I know in the NFL you have to allow for the other team to substitute if you make a substitution, does the same rule apply in college?

For those of us Young'ens who odn't know too much about the ice bowl, I looked it up.

Of special note. Game Time Temp: -17 F  Windchill: -36 F

"The University of Wisconsin–La Crosse (then Wisconsin State University–La Crosse) Marching Chiefs band were scheduled to perform the pre-game and half time shows. However, during warm-ups in the brutal cold, the woodwind instruments froze and wouldn't play; the mouthpieces of brass instruments got stuck to the players' lips; and seven members of the band were transported to local hospitals for hypothermia. The band's further performances were cancelled for the day."

On a more serious note...some a-hole(s) are seriously causing some issue around Linfield's campus.  Second time within 7 days the Mac PD, bomb squad, FBI have had to make it out the campus to dispose of suspicious packages.  No joke.

Mrs 11 and myself were on our weekly Sunday morning walk with our dogs and when we hit campus the entire North end of campus was shut down with police tape, barriers, etc.  Students where kept in the dorms for hours while the bomb squad removed up to 5 packages. I hope they catch whoever it is and drop the hammer on them.

Oh wow ... "curious how police would respond to finding several suspicious packages around campus."  Really?
