okayokay. it was a joke. glad your not serious in thinking Linfield should have gone instead of Whitworth.

I just voted for Brett Elliot for the third time.  How is the campaign going.  Are you guys still getting the vote out once a week.
I'm so happy 'cause today I found my friends. They're in my head.  I'm so ugly, that's okay, 'cause so are you!

d-train

Well...desertcat1 might have been serious about feeling robbed. But the streak thing was a joke, all in good fun.

Re: The Elliott campaign - it's not looking real good. I think he had 2,300 votes and trailed the top 3 by 21,000.

RFB,

I respect Redlands and shouldn't have included them with the rest of the SCIAC.

My point was that if a conferences second place team wants to get a playoff bid they better have proven thereselves well.  But you can't compare scheduling decisions of Linfield to those of Oxy and CLU.  All Linfield fans know that the Cats have a really hard time finding in region competition.  Linfield will schedule quality out of conference opponents.  Stevens-Point may have been down this year but was a top 25 team when they played a year ago.  The addition of Hardin-Simmons further proves the point.

CLU may very well be one of the top 8 teams in the west right now but how does anybody know for sure?

Rockcat-

It's certainly fair to point out that the Kingsmen's schedule is somewhat weak this year, but I think it's also important to acknowledge that at the time this year's schedule was set (2-3 years ago) nobody would have looked at PLU and Menlo (a combined 13-6 in 2003) and said that CLU was setting up a creampuff schedule for this year.  I know that in the past 6-7 years CLU has also played Azusa Pacific, Whitworth and Muhlenberg when they were a top 25 team a few years ago.  I'll give the nod to Redlands for setting up a tougher schedule than the Kingsmen, but I think Cal Lu does a better job than the other teams in the SCIAC in setting up a non conference schedule.

rockcat

That's a very good point.  It is unfortunate that CLU caught PLU this year in a down year.  That game could have been a difference maker if it was a typical PLU team.

As a few of us have talked about on the SCIAC board the conference is doing good things, especially CLU, Oxy and Redlands.  It will be unfortunate if CLU gets left out because they really could be one of the best teams in the west region since their game against Oxy.

D-Train and GHC...thanks for the run down on the fly. That gives me some good info so I can evaluate our performance. DesertCat1....I'm not able to take too many notes during the game, especially if I'm with TuxGuy and our wives are together gabbing, plus I usually use binocs on every play to get up close and see the action! I'll try to take the Palm with me and make some diagrams for future reference.... :P

I have to chime in on the Kelly Bird praise. He is one heck of a guy and does an excellent job of Linfield SID. He's progressive, insightful and very informative in his efforts. Plus his writing skills are unmatched in the journalistic realm. He should be greatly commended...and be given a double figure raise!  ;D

I guess I'm a stat / numbers freak, but here are some more. these are national rankings from the NCAA site.

Total Offense: Linfield #15
Passing Offense: Linfield #5
Scoring Offense: Linfield #1
Turnover margin: Linfield #1
Scoring Defense: Linfield #11
Rushing Defense: Linfield #1 :o  :o

Willamette is not in the top 35 in any team category.
It is going to be a long day for the Bearcats!

Catville Commissioner Elect

Wildcat '64.

Just got back from a big meeting where we decided that in order to lower the taxes for most property owners in town we would increase those in the Brockwood area.  We felt it was only fair given the great wealth of absentee owners in that area.

I will be treking over to the courthouse tomorrow and will let you know what your increase will be.  Of course you can always feel free to send it to me in advance and I will make sure it gets applied correctly  ::)  I could even ask Camcat to escort me because I am sure we are both very honest and sincere.  Is it cold up there yet?

BlueNote,

I am very happy that you noticed that I was on a diet and not eating as much as I normally do.  The menu you proposed looked kind of sparse but that is ok I will do with what you suggest.  Of course if you would rather, we can meet and discuss it over some drinks.  I would ask Swede, but after that rather rude comment regarding the Jack Daniels.  He knows when it comes to wiskey I only like Crown Royal on the rocks.  It is almost as good, but could never compare to HGCs Longies of course.

Well, I never make predictions, but on this one I have to go with GHC.  After all the butchers track record is very good and who wants to argue with the butcher.  Phone it in!

TopCat1....I thought you might enjoy that little entourage of snacks I proposed. Of course instead of the fried chicken we could substitue a nice 35 lb slab of juicey cajun prime rib and have some fried oysters, shrimp and scallops on the side with some ceasar salad to start.... ;D  Just let me know your preference!

Sorry, But any team that can't get 100 yds O and gets beat 29-0 by a so-so NAIA team does not deserve to go anywhere but back to their locker and clean it out. Yes I know that game DID NOT count.

I AM NOT TALKING ABOUT THE STREAK, DAMNIT!

Topcat
I still want a couple tickets for the first playoff game (grandstand) If you can kiss up to the other guys you can damn well get me some. I told you I'd pay for them. You owe me anyway. So just get 'em.

Wildcat'64

Top Cat 1,
Is it cold yet?  As the locals say, "it's cold enough to freeze the balls off a well digger's..." I saw last Saturday that it was 80 degrees in the desert  as dc1 was rubbing it in and listening to the games on the net with cool one in hand....at the same time I am bundled up at 0 degrees and listening to the same game......I'm headed south where we can meet at the Catdome with a compromise of 40 degrees and of course a few WINS for the Cats!

Speaking of property taxes, you and I both know that old political trick of "motion of reconsideration"....You know how your constitutents want to support your upcoming campaign when you watch out for them.....thanks for not cleaning me out totally so that I can send my contribution over for Phase II of the Catdome!  I just want my skybox next to your skybox so that I know we will get first dibs on the Spurs Hot Dogs!

I scheduled a trip the other day for DC....and planned it to coincide with the week of the Stagg Bowl.  So let's start winning a few playoff games so I don't have to come home early (after a week with those politicos) and can have a great Tailgater in Salem (East).
