It'so sad to see the Cats lose this big one.  I feel the pain of players, coaches and family members.  It won't heal quickly, but it will turn for the better in the end.  The Cats had an excellent season and made the UWW faithful and everyone who was watching respect our team once again.  GREAT SEASON LINFIELD WILDCATS!!!
Don't forget your booties cause it's cold out there!

WOW,

Another great game. Not bad from a Cats team that ended the season at least 3rd best in the country. Started out picked to finish 3rd in the NWC I believe. My Top Hat comes off to the fine Coach's and Players that believed in the Wildcat way.

It was great to have that Linfield/Wildcat feeling again where we feel we can and will win ever game we play. You could see it from the Alums, Fans,  students(when they attended) the Players and Coach's!!!! I'm not saying it was ever really gone just turned down a notch maybe.

To the Sr's......Oh the memories. Thanks Wildcats!

Happy Holidays to everyone!
GO WILDCATS!
Only at a D3 football game could you have 2 seats on the 50 yard line (2 rows behind bluenote) and have an obstructed view!
I love D3 Football!!!

Was anyone else scratching their head on the phantom FALSE START call that was made in the 4th quarter... Cats had the ball on the 50 1st and 10... the WW left DE kept playing after the whistle and sacked Boehme and nothing got called.  It was either a VERY late false start or a late hit that wasn't called, or BOTH??

Actually it was neither.  The penalty wasn't a false start, it was a delay of game.  However after confering the officials decided that the Linfield coaching staff had called time out just prior to the play clock expiring.  Evidently the officiating crew didn't feel the DE tackle warranted a penalty under the circumstances.

I just wanted to say congrats to Linfield on a great season and on a well played game.  Easily the best opponent we had faced all season.  While it didn't match the 2005 matchup it was every bit as challenging a contest for our guys.  I was very impressed with the Rocketman and no other defense we faced this season controlled our third down success like yours.  I think Linfield has a lot going for it and they'll be a force to deal with in the future.   Best wishes this offseason and perhaps we'll be fortunate to meet again in the future.

...can't say how proud I am to be a Wildcat.  We were picked to get thumped by WW and we fought with a mighty vengeance the whole game. I was just amazed at how even this game was considering all the factors that were involved. A few big plays by Whitewater that made the difference... but when you think about it we were right there the whole game showing the world we are at the same level as the top teams in the nation, in fact there is not much difference at all between us and them.....What a great season and I'm glad to be a part of it. Thanks for the fantastic season Wildcats....we all are very proud!

Was really looking forward to another color of purple, but not to be. Packing up Jr for his seventh Stagg and my tenth. Mount Union showed the heart of a champion today. As they said in the postgame: "Whatever it takes".

Does anyone really care what Mount Union said in their post game comments?

Having a back up QB come in and still win the game they were heavily favored in is hardly "showing the heart of a champion"

Mount Union was heavily favored? 2 of the 3 triple take guys picked Mount to lose.

Pat Coleman

Two people picked it as an upset - the percentages make that clear.

A huge congrats to the Cat family, players, coaching staff and fans!  Your boys had an awesome showing in the Perk yesterday, a venue that is hard to play in!  Another hard fought game between two stellar programs.  Both teams equally impressive and talented just as in 05!  A couple of plays one way or the other changes the outcome just as in 05.  A nerve racking 60 minutes of excellent football, just as in 05!   Again, congrats on a great season and I suspect, (and hope,) there is a good chance we will meet again very soon!  :)

My sentiments exactly.    Great year, Linfield.

That Donovan was the only QB I have seen this year who was a match for Boeme.    He beat us, especially on that crucial 3rd and 10 early in the 4th Qtr.:  "WW 3-10 at Lin47   Jeff Donovan pass complete to Adam Brandes for 35 yards to the LIN12, 1ST DOWN WW."

That was the turning point.   Everything had been going the Wildcat way since the 5 minute mark in the 2nd Qtr. when Boeme ran for 67 yards.

And, Donovan had just thrown two bad passes and all we needed was to stop UWW to force a punt.   But, Donovan and his receiver, Brandes, came through big time.    The momentum shifted on that play.

Yes, Linfield came close to an upset, but UW-W proved again they have one of the two best programs in Division III.    Congrats to the Warhawks.

Next year.

Anyone know off the top of their head what players/how many do we lose to graduation off this team?

On offense we lose 8-9 starters (OUCH!).    On defense we return 6-7 starters.    Depends on whether the seniors, with one more year of eligibility, return.

I think you are both spot on.  Just glad Jeff could shake off the effects of the huge hit on him earlier in the game.  He threw several uncharacteristically bad passes after that but luckily for us, he seemed to settle back in.  BTW, the Rocketman was as good as advertised! Probably the best QB we have faced this year.
