From LCpioneers.com:  Assistant Football Coach Ian Falconer Resigns

Falconer is leaving L&C to take an offensive job with Pacific.  Curious about that decision....

Do you think the potential of working with a new program outweighed the tepid support I heard L&C football receives? Just a guess, I wonder when the Pioneers last had a winning season, was it during the silver and black uniform era?

I think the potential of working with his coach from college (Craft) probably outweighed both those things.

January is always fun for that was the time of the year Wildcat11 let go that the other BE was enrolling in LINFIELD.

Steel:
I logged onto the L&C football website to look up their past seasons. I could not find a reference/link to any type of archives or past schedules that would show when their last winning season was.  :(

Staying dry in Arizona! :D

Outstanding article on Mike Riley with references to Linfield & Pacific Lutheran football.

Question, when does the NWC faithful think Coach Locey will get elevated to the coordinator level at OSU?

I don't think he will and I think he's content in his current roll.  Might be wrong but I think that Banker is a hell of a D.C. and I'm not sure if Locey would want to be O.C. if Langsdorf moved on to take a HC job.

When Linfield Grad Danny Langsdorf gets a head coaching gig

I wasn't implying that OSU's current coordinators are not top notch. Just have to figure that a great coach who has a national championship ring as a head coach will tire eventually of being a position coach. He could very well be happy and content but to me it would be a waste of a very valuable resource and talent.

To me it would be just like being a NFL backup QB and being content with it.  It's a perfect job; great pay, little physical risk, not too much work or stress, limited responsibilities.  But yet all competitors in the heart want to move up and accept the risk.  It's in the blood, which comes from the heart.

Great article. Riley must really love his job. There was a 3 million 3 hundred thousand dollar difference in his ($1,100,000) and Pete Carroll's ($4,400,000) salary for the 2009 season. I wonder what USC offered him to make the move to California. Anyone know what Kiffin is getting paid?

My guess is something in between, I think Kiffin is only 12-21 as a head coach, and he will finally have to produce at USC. Was glad Riley turned down the job, sometimes money isn't the end all be all of everything. No offense to the golden state, but I think living in Oregon played a role in Riley's decision.

No offense taken---I'd glady move back to Oregon if I could convince the wife (from Phoenix) that the rain and clouds aren't so bad!

I agree with both of you. I know living somewhere is different than just visiting, but I fell in love with Oregon (ie. McMinnville and the surrounding areas and the coast) over the five years we traveled there during football season.

i think that locey should get the d-coordinator job. osu defense could use his input.  and their tackling is terrible. they need to get back to basics and fundamentals. these things will only come from "small" college coaches. the dI guys are too busy to teach basics. locey should go back to defense and danny should keep the oc position. the coaches at osu are in a great spot, their jobs seem secure in and environment that is very unsure. so to have stability, is worth a lot.
i heard the jay turned down the portland state top spot. so i think he will stay with osu no matter his role. that staff is soild and i am expecting great thiings from them. they need to just dominate the pac-10 and the nation. go beavers   go cats
