Thanks for the heads-up on Elliott ball...been lookin for him with no luck lately.
It'll be nice to see his familiar "Cat-Like" style.

I got to watch the last 2 minutes of regulation and all of the overtime. Brett Elliott threw for 8 touchdowns ("Cat-Like") with only two interceptions in a game that saw the Utah Blaze losing in overtime 56-55 to the Milwaukee Iron. The Blaze will be playing here in Arizona in July. I just might put on my Linfield Red and Purple and go to the game. :)

I was watching the game last night, first time I've seen Elliot play, and he underthrows a streak route by like 3 feet and the announcer starts going on about how he just doesn't have that strong of an arm, good touch but not a lot of arm.  Is that correct?  I guess I just assumed with the numbers he put up that he had a cannon.

Nothing wrong with Elliot's arm, unless he was dinged, maybe he just made a bad pass. I've seen John Elway and Brett Favre underthrow passes-it happens. Arena football doesn't require the QBs with the cannon arms anyway, it's more about accuracy and quick decisions.

I agree with Steel Curtain on this one. I watched Elliott for two years. Nothing wrong with his passing arm. Whether it was short, medium, or long; He got the job done. He could also throw across his body to the opposite side of the field. :)

Just a reminder of some of his numbers from Linfield:
Pass attempts #2. 833 - Brett Elliott (567-833-20) - 2004-05
Pass completions #1. 567 - Brett Elliott (567-833-20) - 2004-05
Passing yards #1. 8614 - Brett Elliott (567-833-20) - 2004-05
Passing TDs #1. 110 - Brett Elliott - 2004-05
Passes had intercepted #9 (tied). 20 - Brett Elliott (567-833-20) - 2004-05
Pass completion pct (minimum 250 attempts) #1. 68.1 - Brett Elliott (567-833-20) - 2004-05
Pass efficiency (minimum 250 attempts) #1. 193.7 - Brett Elliott (567-833-20) - 2004-05
Average yards/pass (minimum 250 attempts) #1. 10.3 - Brett Elliott (567-833-20) - 2004-05
Average yards/completion (minimum 250 attempts) $1. 15.2 - Brett Elliott (567-833-20) - 2004-05
Passing yards/game (minimum 20 games) #1. 358.9 - Brett Elliott (24 games) - 2004-05

Thanks, It seemed like a prepared statement, like the announcer was just waiting for that under thrown pass so he could bring out his "this guy doesn't have that strong of an arm routine".  I'm with you on that one Steel, everyone underthrows a pass now and then.

ADvantage Catdome:  Later Menlo.  It was real while it lasted.

It sounds like this will turn out the best for both the NWC and Menlo. Wasn't that about a 12 hour drive from McMinnville? The first Linfield game I attended was versus Menlo in 2000. They had a short quarterback, whose name I can't pronounce throwing to WR Nate Jackson. Jackson went on to play with the Denver Broncos as a TE, he may be in the UFL now.

Actually, according to Rick Reilly, Nate Jackson is now trying to become a sports writer, not sure if he=s still trying to play at the same time or not.

I know he used to write a blog while he was over in NFL Europe that I used to read.  Not bad stuff.

It sounds like he may be making the post-football transition, another player who may fit that description soon is Jamarcus Russell, arguably the biggest draft bust in NFL history. Hard work and passion for the game sum up the traits for D3 players, but Russell is afflicted with a lethargy addiction, as a Bay area sportswriter called it. Never heard that term before, but it's kind of amusing. Former Raider teammates said Russell slept during meetings, and was known for his frequent trips to Vegas.

Thanks GHC...that's hit counter isn't an perfect and I lost all of my tracking data when I switched over from that geocities hosted site 2 years ago so I think we're well pass that 100K mark now but it's still fun to see people coming and checking out my ramblings and videos.

Funny thing is that hit mark is still pretty dang small compared to warhawkfootball.com and Mtunionfootball.com.  We still have a lot of ground to catch up if we're going to catch them.  :D

BTW...Thanks Speedy for the words about the Menlo piece.  It's just my take but I think that it's pretty accurate.  There are probably other factors that I'm not aware of but I think we talked about the heart of the situation.

Linfield sports has just press released the program's second round of recruits for the 2010 season.  It's a huge class with a huge upside.  I'm very excited about this incoming group.  I know coaches always say this is our "best class ever" but this really is an exceptional group by all accounts.

A great looking class indeed.  And a 3.42 GPA, that's pretty impressive.  Any clarification or expansion on that stat as it has peaked my curiosity.  What have previous groups GPA's been?  What is the Linfield College average for incoming frosh?  In comparison to other campuses?  Not sure how accessible this info is, maybe someone from the "inside" can shed some light.....
