Puget Sound opened camp with a new look helmet.  Looks familiar?

http://www.loggerathletics.com/sports/fball/2010-11/photos/Practice1

That looks like the helmet Puget Sound wore in 2000, but I think the facemask was red, they had a red stripe down the middle, and player number on the side. The 1990s green/yellow Logger helmet looked sharp with the axes.

If anyone coming south this fall can bring me a couple of LINFIELD Football Camp tee shirts - any year - I will pay top $ for them.

Yes, it's true, I plan on cutting off the sleeves and wear them to the gym.

Sorry Dens.  I usually get a couple of year but missed out this time around.

BTW, lets get a pre-season mailbag lathered up.  Have a question about the 'Cats upcoming season, the NWC, or anything else.  Drop me a question at mailbag@catdomealumni.com

Understood; one guy down.
I am trying not to cut the sleeves off of my 24/7/365 tee shirt  :)  so I'm even willing to take one of those ancient 2004 championship shirts.
I go to the Orange Coast College gym so it's all advertising anyway. Conversation piece, so to speak.

Overnight in the fieldhouse after a full plate hot dogs and BEANS! Awesome! What a warm welcome for the newbies!  :D
Go Cats! Make it 62 in '17!

Wow, the Bearcats must be facing one of their toughest schedules in recent history beginning with three away games against UW-Stevens Point, Hardin-Simmons, and Southern Oregon before returning to McCulloch Stadium.  The WIAC sports information directors picked the Pointers to finish second in the conference after Whitewater.  "UW-Stevens Point, ranked No. 16 by D3football.com, has posted at least six wins in 19 of 22 seasons under head coach John Miech who is the longest tenured coach in the conference. Senior Jared Jenkins earned All-America honors as a punter in 2009 and finished third in the NCAA Division III with a 41.2 average. He also led the league with 80 receptions, 1,210 receiving yards and 12 receiving touchdowns. His receiving yardage ranks as the seventh-highest total in WIAC listings. Jenkins matched a conference single-game record with four touchdown receptions against UW-Eau Claire on October 3, 2009.

What a huge test in two weeks to start the season with!  Go Bearcats!

And, oh, the Pointers were ranked No. 11 according to the USA Today Division III Top 25 poll.  "The Pointers come off a 7-3 campaign in 2009 and will begin this season with three straight home games and four of their first five contests at the friendly confines of Community Stadium at Goerke Park.

The Pointers' roster is expected to boast over 60 returning letterwinners and will also include a talented class of transfers and recruits when the team opens preseason camp on August 14."

Based on last year's record, the Pointers can put points on the board.  Could be a high scoring game if Willamette can get its Fly buzzing!

GO BEARCATS!

River,

It should be a tough opening game for sure.  Linfield has been there and done that.

After the 'Cats 2004 win at UWSP
QuoteStreak Stopper:

UW-Stevens Point’s loss to Linfield snapped a streak of 16 straight regular season non-conference victories
against Division III opponents since a 10-7 loss on Sept. 26, 1981 at St. Norbert.

The Pointers had won 14 straight regular season Division III non-conference games at home since a 13-10 loss to St. Norbert on Sept. 21, 1974

river

That Wildcat win against the Pointers must have been one of the best comebacks in Linfield history.  Of course, you had the benefit of a fairly decent QB (;)) in Brett Elliott who passed for 3 unanswered TDs in the 4th Q and won the battle of the Bretts 46-35 (with the help of some timely effort by the Wildcat defense).

The Bearcats play SOU at home this year.  After that they have a bye before getting you-know-who on the road.  Still, it's a crazy schedule for sure.
