The only ranking that matters is #1 at the end of the season...

+1,000.  The only ranking I care about is the one that comes out after the Stagg Bowl is played.

As a player, this is the right thing to say.  And you should never look/prepare/think further than next weeks game.  Probably shouldn't care about anything that anyone says on the D3boards either.

But as a fan and poster it's fun to have albeit small bragging rights and disputes as to the rankings.  That's what half the fun is of the boards (maybe I'm the oddman out on this one).  So on that note, yea i agree that Willamette's ranking is a surprise to me as well.

YUP...I agree with most of that...so here's an idle chat comment.
Seems like WU should be at least 2 or 3 slots higher.  They're a good team that would
leave most defenses grabbing at air!

Linfield and Willamette fare much better in the only Top 25 rankings that matter:

Thanks for keeping up with us out in the upper left corner!  It seems likely that your poll is put together with some thought.  An interesting take on things, some of which I really do agree with...like moving Willamette up a bit.
Like the others have been saying...polls are fun to fiddle with and they do show some
insight into how things seem currently.  What else can we do to stay "In the game" between Saturdays.  Our guys love to play at the Catdome...I'm sure that Perkins would not be to dissappointing a place to play either ::)

Well...at the risk of over explaining myself; let me say this about that...

The Catdome is the preferred venue for Wildcat football...(IMO).
If that venue is not available for whatever reason...and the Cat's are
playing football; I would be happy to see them playing on and on and on anywhere
there's a game!

Thanks, Mac!

I have to say the last time the Cats came to Perkins Stadium, we were treated to a GREAT game! The Cats are the real deal and that's why I continue to rate them highly. The Linfield folks were really nice and it was a great game day experience all in all.  Would LOVE to host the Cats again.  But it would be even more fun to see UWW moved to another region and meet you in Salem!  :D

I'm sure glad Linfield beat Boise State.

As the guy who writes "Around the West," I'll take any top 25 that lists 13 teams from the West!

+K, even if you'll need to flip Willamette and Linfield in a couple of weeks. ;)

You do a great job with that column, BearcatPress!

Willamette is another really impressive program!  With the Cats and Bearcats both suffering a non-conference loss, the stakes are really raised for their battle! What a great football day that will be!

The Linfield Football Weekend begins this morning as Mrs. OldCat and I head on down to the Phoenix bus terminal for the trek over to Laverne. Be assured that if we show up smelling of cheap wine (or certain Mexican smoking materials), it will be traceable to the other fine patrons of the USA bus system.::)

Assuming we can catch a ride to the game (do they allow hitchhiking in Cali?), Mrs. OldCat will arrive with parasol in hand...to protect her delicate beauty from that most inhospitable sun we've been told to expect at the game.8-) I, on the other hand, will have my UMBRELLA.;D See y'all there.

Go Cats!!
